I have 26% crit chance mostly from the masterwork upgrades of the hammer. But you can always use something with crit chance instead.I just never felt it was worth switching the ring etc for 2 or 5 % more crit chance.I farmed the plans for the weapon upgrades in sulevins cradle or whats it called.Fun. I don't even know there is a superb critical chance ring.

I just finished a NM playthrough as a 2h Templar DPS. I built around quick CDs mostly, and high crit. Ended up using a custom made axe I called Conviction. It had 21% crit chance, and 35% Guard Damage Bonus, plus 11 Strength for giggles. I ended up with a 61% crit chance (with Templar Armor, my axe and haft, and the cunning bonus from the Chateau in Emerald Graves), 90% Crit DMG bonus, and something like 209% Guard Damage Bonus. My move set was: Mighty Blow, Wrath of Heaven, Grappling Chain, Earthshaking Strike, Spell Purge, Blessed Blades, Rally, and Pommel Strike. Build Wise: I look the MB upgrade for more DMG against grounded enemies, Flow of Battle (Which went off literally every hit with my crit chance, allowing for 1 second of CDs each hit), Shield Breaker (Which also was always active, meaning a constant 20% Armor Reduction effect), Guard-Smasher (Which is how I got my Guard DMG so high), Upgraded Earthshaking Strike and Pommel Strike (Both of which were fantastic against Despair Demons), Upgraded Grappling Chain (Cause I like to kick people in the face), Crippling Blows (Again with high crit going off constantly, I had an endless weakened effect going, and it stacks!), Hamstring (Since Cassandra was tanking, I always ended up attacking from behind so this was always going on), Upgraded Blessed Blades, Wrath of Heaven, and Spell Purge, Makers Will, Champions of the Just, and There is No Darkness. I did the most damage in the group and had the best control moves, maybe second only to Cassandra. My other party members were Dorian, whom had all the Spirit Tree, Some of the Necromancer Tree, and A splash of the Ice tree, and acted as support mostly. And Second was Cole, whom was bow and assassin, with a bit of Subterfuge. Cass was my tank and was heavily Vanguard, with plenty of Templar and W&S. We rarely used potions, and hardly ever died, which is why I removed The Last Sacrifice and replaced it with Hamstring. I never had an issue with survivability, even without using Block and Slash, which I had to put a point into to move down that path. In fact, it was never really an issue at low level even with Cass tanking. Never used Tac-Cam either, never needed to, unless Cole was landed on by a dragon and I needed to rez him really quick, which happened a couple times
. This was also my favorite playthrough in any game and the first one that I finished the game with. Anyway, that's my two cents.
