On some companions Bioware already showed some good looking long haircuts, a pity they didn't bother adding it to the main character.

Miranda, Ashley (ME3) and Diana are good examples of that.

TBH I liked Ashley's haircut in ME3 and it would have looked great on a femShep, but Miranda and Diana's haircut would not work for femShep. It would look stupid I think, especially when geared up in combat-armor. It would probably clip horribly through the armor that Shepard wears not to mention that the combination of fancy hair and plate-armor would just look stupid. The reason why Miranda got away with it is because of her morph-suit and the fact that she was more of a spellcaster than a front-line soldier like Shepard is.

Yeah exactly that's kind of what i'm hoping they'll add to the CC a couple of options like theirs

Stop talking **** about Sentinels, you tool. It's the definition of front-line soldier.

Think it depends largely on the kind of person your roleplaying though hopefully Bioware will give us a few new options in that area.

The more options the better, so it fits to each one's way of roleplay.

Miranda being a frontline soldier? :')

She can use biotics and tech but that doesn't mean she's a sentinel. Just look at ME3 MP. Sentinel isn't the only MP class that has both biotics and tech available.

But every person has to abide by the rules and restrictions laid upon him. If we play an Alliance soldier or something similar in ME:A then having long curly hair is not an option. It would be highly impractical in combat and against Alliance regulations.

If we play something else, for example a Spectre, then these regulations obviously don't apply. We'd still be restricted by logic and common sense though. At least, I hope. I'd absolutely hate it to see the ME2 comicbook nonsense character designs making a return in ME:A. I'm seriously hoping ME:A will be more in line with ME1 when it comes to character designs.

While I agree there is goimng to be some resrtictionds one of the rgeat things about a game like this is being able to play it your way meaning you do get to maske some decisions for yourself how you play. This should also include to some extent how your character looks of course.

Assuming we're playing as a human again, I'm going to say this... long hair isn't practical if you work in the military or as a security person. You could easily get your hair grabbed by your opponent and it would cause you more trouble on the long run, so I don't think we'll get hair under the elbows. I would like some variations here and there but practical for soldiers and military units.

It's confirmed by BioWare we're playing as a human again. As of yet there are no plans to allow us to pick any other alien race for our protagonist, but that might chance (after all DA:I was supposed to only have a human protagonist and they added the other races as options after much protest).

I agree but I think we should be able to pick a couple of Miranda/Ashley hairstyle types though given they were shoulder length and those characters got away with it.  At theend of the day all  I'm asking is if our teammates can wear those sorts of hairstyles then why can't we? I think that's the point of this thread To give Bioware some ideas on how to achieve this.

Neither was running around in a skintight onesie. But hey, longer hair is the lesser of two evils.

i agree besides most of the time in a shooter i tend to keep my enemies at range and never let them get too close so they'd never get near my characters hair. the only time they did in ME was when i was fighting the husks generally aside from them i was able to keep all my other enemies at range. Mostly as that's how I like to play given I usually use the Sniper or Assault rifles most of the time.

Jesus was a historical figure. You can debate until the cow comes home whether he was the son of God or not (no skin off my ass) but he existed in real life. That is fact.

Actually no it isn't. There is no contemporary record of him existing, the first (and probably forged) reference is a good 60 years after his supposed death when Christianity was already known.

Anyway, simple solution is bioware open up the game to modding. Problem solved - they can then spend their time focusing on the plot involving not!shepard.

We actually have more evidence that Keanu Reeves is in fact immortal.

Also, the trilby is the hat you should be hating on.

Hair grabbing isn't the only problem. I'm repeating myself but long hair also has the problem of getting in the eyes and restricting vision, especially when moving around in hand to hand combat, in windy conditions, when running, etc. It also easily gets caught on things such as branches when in the forest. There's also the issue of long hair just making you hot and sticking to you when you're sweaty.

Don't get me wrong; I love long hair. I have long hair. As a person with long hair I know the problems it presents when you're active. I'll say it again, pinning long hair up and out of the eyes is the best way to realistically represent people with long hair in combat. I know people will talk about not needing realism in 'SF Fantasy' and that's fine. I just hope BW gives me an attractive updo for my character that meets these requirements. I also hope they take the impracticalities of leaving long hair down into consideration when designing NPCs in combat.

I agree and I think most people do. I think Bioware just need to be more creative in this area but I think what's being argued here is really if our colleague can wear their hair  a certain way like Miranda & Ashley did for example then why can't the player do it?  At least give the player those sorts of choices. After all we do share the same powers and abilities as them when fighting in the field so why cant we have similar types of hairstyles if we want them. Just put the options in the CC and we can pick them if we want to use them.

I hate to admit it but the only time I think Biowaer came close to getting this right in terms of long hair I think was in DA2 which was considered a bad game by most  but more due to the game rather than the hairstyles on offer I think. Admittedly in the game we're using helmet heads and I think it would be nice to have some hair physics but there's no guarantee we'll get that but it would be nice to have some extra options either way.

I get it. I wanted Josephine's hair in DAI and couldn't have it! I'm just hoping that the developers will take the practicality of hair styles into consideration when in combat. Give the NPC's, like Miranda, long flowing locks outside of combat and a practical updo when in combat (along with a helmet, armor, and no heels!)

This would have the added bonus of giving characters more dynamic appearances. People don't always look the same.

Well, If Bio ever gets their bottoms off the bench and resolve the clipping issues with FB3, new and improved hairstyles would come forth, from the creative minds of the artists.

Assuming Bio can do at least one team member (if time and resource is extravagant) then please prioritize the alien female LI (if she has human type hair). This would give her the necessary exotic flare that shines her alien beauty and avoid a boiler plate look. Failing that, then use the human female with an "Adromeda look", regarding her hairstyle.

On that note, perhaps an animation of the human female taking off her combat helmet showing us how her hair falls down on her shoulders would be just awesome. These little touches goes a long way with the immersion. And, if time/resource is a factor, remove an unnecessary/trivial romance. The animation resources saved can go towards polishing the animations elsewhere.

Folks, what say you regarding the "exotic" alien female look/hair ?

ha, ha!  If I took off my helmet after stuffing my long unpinned hair in there for hours of combat it wouldn't just shake out in nice neat shiny Pantene hair waves. It would be a ratty sweaty mess that I'd dread untangling later! People that have never had long hair don't need to design characters with long hair; they just don't have the real life experience to make it realistic and un-silly.

That would be pretty cool, a nice change from all the bald and shaved versions.
