I was initially disappointed when I heard Hollywood was trying to reboot Escape from NY, because nobody should play Snake Plisskin other than Kurt Russell. But, one of the rumors is that they might cast Emily Blunt in the lead role....and her with an eye-patch is something I'd be totally down for.

Assuming the character is Alliance military Bioware could get away with limiting the options from partially or entirely shaved to long hair that is tied up in a bun or ponytail. It would actually make some sense in that case for the character not to have long flowing hair, given their background. If so however I hope the options we do have in CC are more varied and look better than what we had in DA:I.

All you had to say is: Emily Blunt.

I mean, we don't need anything fancy. Just a good selection of natural-looking hair. BioWare clearly employs some pretty good artists. You'd think that hair modeling wouldn't suffer as badly as it does.

I just did a quick google search for 'short hair men' and 'short hair women' and both turn up lots of good options right on the first page that could be used, even if the options in the CC are limited to short or tied up in a bun or what have you.

who cares at this point? When Bioware is giving us squadmates who go to war in their underwear, they might as well give us our long flowing locks to live out our retro sci-fi (completely non-p.c.) dreams.

I could go for this, although long flowing hair is the least of their worries when it comes to "making sense" of things.

I'd rather not have squadmates go into battle in their skivvies, whether or not the CC includes long hair.

A variety of tied back and short options is fine, as long is it's an actual variety.
I don't think hair has ever been Bioware's strong suit, but my expectations for DAI were at their highest when it came to the CC and I was appalled (I absolutely want to use a word as strong as appalled) by the poor range of options. Beard textures are even worse than basic hair textures, and basic hair textures were not good.

It is kind of shame too, because outside of the hair options it was by far Bioware's best CC to date. Also some of the images that were released early in development looked a lot better than what actually ended up in the game:

If there is long hair and we're part of the Alliance military, have the hair tied up and then when not on a mission, let the hair down. Don't know how hard that would be to do.

It's still a sore spot for me.
I love the way those look. I probably should have known better than to assume early development images are any kind of guarantee, but I saw those and I was really excited for the CC. I expected those options, or something similar.

This game has had the longest amount of development time since the first Mass Effect. If they don't revolutionize multiple aspects of the Mass Effect experience, it'll be an utter failure.

Even some basic no-nonsense hair would be welcome.
That hair looks lovely. I'd happily put that on my characters.

No, it's not. It's a matter of perspective. It might not be a commercial failure or a failure from a critical or sales standpoint. But if it doesn't evolve and revolutionize the entire experience considering the amount of time they've had, it'll be nothing short of an extreme disappointment. Or as I would call it, an "utter failure". Especially from a creative standpoint.
