I agree on better styles and I would even go so far to say that I'd love the main character hair to be unique. The hair styles of our companions in DA/ME verse are usually exclusive to that one character. It irks me to see NPCs rolling around with my hair style, but that might just be a personal pet peeve.
I would really love to have a color wheel for hair like we did for eye colors in DAI. If I can be even more greedy, the way they do hair in the sims with the different highlights/lowlights, etc. That level of specificity really isn't necessary, just a pleasant daydream. But the color wheel is necessary at this point.

Normally, I would wear my hair like Katniss.. but I reckon anyone could grab on it.
Just pull the side braid into a side bun while on duty and you're good to go! No worries about anybody grabbing it and you have pins to use if you need to pick a lock or something!

I'm not sure having sharp objects in the hair is recommendable... and they pull on the scalp... ouch. But if your hair is thick enough, braids do act like a cushion for the head. Then again, I like helmetless combat. Maybe we should have invisible helmet in the game.
Honestly, I would prefer/lust default BroShep more if he had some hair. I don't know why but I was really bothered by the shape of his head from behind. Why must he have the same hair do in all three games? At least with FemShep, there's variant with the same hairstyle and Vanderloo is gorgeous with hair... BroShep is a bad copy of him.

lol these forums always get hung up on hair. Also if we are playing as a marine again then long hair should not be an option.

Well, keep in mind...if you're part of the military you shouldn't expect long luxurious flowing hair options. The fact that Ashley got away with it made me cringe.

I usually hate threads like this...
...But I agree. We need better hair. The hair in ME and DA looks so stiff its bad. Pony tails dont move around, it looks bad and actually takes me out of the experience sometimes. Just up the hair physics or something so they actually move around and I'll be happy.
ALSO: Long hair should only really be available as part of the characters casual attire, long hair in the middle of combat is a hazard, there is a reason why you need short hair in the military
Give us some hair designs like this:

(It always made wonder how hair was able to move in Halo 2 and 3 yet not in any ME games, when the visuals in the ME games were so much better)

Well it depends I think what kind of character we'll be in the game we don't know much about that yet.

I swear, sometimes I think the Bioware Forum would pay for Hair DLC.
I absolutely would and tweeted as such to Allan Schumacher not long after Inquisition was released. Still no decent hair except from modders who have to work way too hard to get it workable in-game.
It is kind of shame too, because outside of the hair options it was by far Bioware's best CC to date. Also some of the images that were released early in development looked a lot better than what actually ended up in the game:
Dat side braid. Seriously, why did they show us this? The blunt cut with bangs from DA:O and DA2 was better than any hairstyle in Inquisition.
As someone who's been modding games for years, I've become immune to clipping.
I say let it clip. A little clipping is infinitely preferable to the silly little skullcaps they gave us in Inquisition and SWTOR.
And it's not like every other damn piece of equipment we have doesn't already clip.
If Bioware's excuse for having crap hair is clipping (which it isn't because they haven't acknowledged that their hair is terrible) then that's dumb. Their own hair clips in Inquisition. Just about every hair option except for the shaved hair clips through ears or armor. And agreed. As gamers, we're used to it. Just make better hair.

Bioware doesn't care about hair. Every game they've done its bad.
I expect this to continue for future games.
So... move to PC platform and MOD the game if you want better hair. I highly recommend it. I expect I'll mod the character textures, eyes, eyebrows, hair, clothing....
I'm very picky and BW gets a "D" for character creation customization's across all games.

Yeah they did a little bit of that in DA2. Given what hey've already achieved with the armours (especiall;y the mage one's in DAI) I think they can do it with this engine it's just a matter of how much effort they'er willing to put into it. While Tomb Raider does an excellent job in this area it dosen't necessarily have to be at that level. Maybe take a few pointers from what the Fifa team are going to be doing with the women in this years Fifa in terms of hair physics. Possibly look at the witcher games too given that has it. There's always a limit to the number of hairstyles that are available anyway and there aer always going to be one or 2 that will be left out that people want. But as long as there's a good mix and there is hair physics applied (especially to the longer type hairstyles.) I think most people would be able to live with it. Personally I think we should have more dynamic hair in Andromeda and we'er now only supporting nwe gen systems it just makes more sense to me. if we were talking about a game cfompany that has a small budget to work with like Codemasters who make the F1 games for example then yes we'd have to make allowances but that's not the case here.

Nope. Not for me it didn't. I'm sorry... it's ALL bad. I expected DA:I to be better with the new game engine and all... but the release version hairstyles concepted wonderfully, but the execution in-game was awful.
I'm happy to Mod tho'

That hair is also pretty bad, just because the textures maps / shader are a bit more detailed doesn't mean it works like, you know... hair.
To have decent hair you have to simulate it to a certain degree, and that's probably pretty challenging considering how underpowered current gen consoles came out to be, just look at how most GPUs still struggle with the ridiculous levels of tesellation some HairWorks games like TW3 use.

Sure, it looks nice, but you lose up to 20fps for it in cutscenes... that's absolutely out of the question for consoles and even mid-range PCs.

Spoiler
If Bioware is super smart, they will take every hair used by Emily Blunt in Edge of Tomorrow and just copy them. And if they are genius-level smart they will get the actress for the female voice of the protagonist.

Lara Croft is very good in next-gen consoles. I wouldn't expect that kind of level of detail in MEA though.

Yes, since ages iirr... and i am still afraid we saw the best of it... the character editor...
There are reasons why my shepard (and most other chars in other games) is bald.
Years ago it was the kinky-looking hair in most games.
Now it is the fact, that i don't got much hair left irl and shave my head, so i look the same and don't care anymore
for hairy chars.

ThePS3 gen probably yes but we're not talking about PS3 gen any moer as Andromeda and future games won't be coming out for those systems. We're talking about the nwe systemsamnd they definetely have more power. And if the gasmes domn't push the tech then we'll never get better games or better tech so sometimes it's worth srtiving and pushing for more. Besides i find sometimes it's worth taking a performance hit if it makes the game better.

Neither would i but if they can get it up to Fifas levels or similar to what they've done with the Witcher games that would be something. Based on what I've seen of it in Battlefield/DAI even the vids of the new Star wars game and even the NFS games that have used it. The frostbite engine looks like it's a very verastile fluid and effective engine. I think with the way they've done the armours in DAI and a few tweaks it's likely they could apply that to hair quite easily I think. i'm pretty suer it's not as easy as I'm making it sound but i'm pretty sure it's possible.
