women in DAMP

I found that women players range the wide cross sections as the guys, in age, in skill, in promotions and on PS3 leaderboard there's quiet a few female players. I also see some guys being extra attentive and others treating them like another player. What are your experiences?

While I have heard some horror stories from some fellow women in regards to online gaming, so far my experiences have been just fine. Have not had anyone asking if I was a 12-year-old boy or a girl, haven't had any "get back in the kitchen" comments, or any weird creepiness like trying to court me via the game.
Granted, most of the time I am not on mic on this game because nobody else is, either, and I feel awkward just talking to empty air, you know?
But I seem to have been lucky in that way. I've played Motorstorm, ME3MP, DAIMP, and ESO online and mic'd up at many points, and everyone's either been silent or just treated me like a fellow dude gamer. That is fine by me, as I just want to play the game and have fun anyway.
I only ever got a dumb, harassing message one time - when I played ME3MP on XBox 360 for a short while (I was primarily on PS3 with that game, and did a little PC time with it on my laptop). And I only got that message because the guy was harassing everyone who was on BSN, so it was not due to my gender at all.

I don't bother using the mic anymore. I get my fair share of hatemail in games (got some today, in fact), and sometimes they make derogatory remarks etc, but mostly they assume I'm a guy despite my female avatar, or it's just unrelated.

so why is it worth noting that #1 is female if there isn't some kind of sexism?
A very good point.
I voicechat with daimp friends almost daily but infrequently in pugs beyond the basic "thanks for ringing the gong" and "good to go" every few games or so. Overall daimp has been great and I've been treated like any other player but every once in a while a guy I've never encountered before in a pug hears me say "there's a rogue door over here" and suddenly decides he should teach me how to play my class. "Ok, give me a barrier now" or "put a static cage in the doorway" like the ability to utilize choke points is encoded on the Y chromosome. It's not getting advice that bugs me (I ask for and accept tips from people I respect all the time), it's the fact that some guys feel the need to teach the woman with the keeper banner how barrier works but ignore the dude who landed in the Fade in zone 2 ![]()
Compared to the awful experiences I had on WoW, DAIMP is a dream come true. Some men might treat me a little nicer, some might patronize or claim some responsibility for any skill I have, but the majority have been a pleasure to play with. The rotten ones can be muted and ignored easily enough ![]()

Agree with you entirely. It's not as much of issue with DAIMP -- not mentioning the one guy who would respond to Izzy's in-game chat as if he were watching a porno as he didn't at that point know I was a woman -- and I greatly appreciate that. Frankly, ME3MP was not as good in this respect. I also don't think Spin-Orbit meant much by it and he's not a horrid sexist as I'd classify them. But Yumi's point was valid. It's a subtle way of thinking, though, that people miss (even in themselves).

Is this the part where you walk me through how to write a post on the forums?
I wouldn't presume to, ma'am. Just figured out how to do a multi-quote myself. In fact, I'm rather proud I was able to accomplish it without the help of my wife or daughter.

I hope it was clear that I was just being silly.
Also I missed a huge opportunity responding to your previous post... damn it, mobile forums!
