I just hope they can keep advancing on this..

I have a long history with this kind of thing and from where I sit this if it could be made to work would be of great benefit.

Yes there are trials with chips on the retina and stuff. But the vision they provide is shall we say on the level of the game Pong.  It's blocky at best.  Plus you have to wear an external set of glasses or other appliance.  While functional it's not the most practical of setups I could imagine.

This kind of thing if it happens will be much better as it's a direct replacement to the full eye. Hopefully they can find a way to interface to the optic nerve one day too..

There's a part of me that looks at these advancements and waits for the day I can become Adam Jensen.

And all the ethical drama that would bring too.     Most of the augmentation in Deus Ex is things people want to replace not that they need them.

You should probably just have a science general thread tbh. It would be cool if the lobby could be separated into categories.

I wholly support this. A pure science news thread would be epic.

Oh no I agree.

I'd love cyborg legs and arms to run faster and do stuff normals can't do.

Those you call normals don't need artificial limbs, since they are not impaired.

I hope you aren't seriously saying you'd switch your limbs, getting them mutilated or amputated, with artificial ones.

No I mean if they gave you faster running speed then normal people and you could throw cars with two cyborg arms then hell yes I'd want that.

How old are you?

Age is a number and irrelevant to wants.

Needs are however more precedent.

Don't want to be serious all the time.

I'll put it this way:

If I found a genie in a bottle, all my wishes would be geared to what I consider the purpose of my life: protecting people.

So if my being surgically 'mutilated', as you call it, would mean I am better able to prevent people from being forced into such a situation? I would do so without hesitation; I would give up what you and others would consider my 'humanity' if it meant other people got to keep theirs. I defend others because they are unwilling or unable to defend themselves, and it doesn't matter to me what I lose in the process because I gain something few achieve: inner peace earned through the fullfilment of one's purpose in life. Some find this in religion, some find this in romance, I find this in the satisfaction of knowing I made the world just a little bit safer.

. . .and back to the genie thing, though? I'd totally wish to be a Krogan. Similar type change, but- come on, HEADBUTTS THAT ARE EVEN BETTER! I've solved a few of my problems with headbutts, and that was prior to learning about Mass Effect. Just IMAGINE all the other problems I could solve with them!

. . .CYBORG KROGAN ROBO-COP!
