They rebalanced the Acolyte once to add a charge-up and clearly they thought that was enough, it's not a game-breaking weapon by any means so I dont understand why some people are so insistent on specifically targeting this weapon and not including it in Andromeda.

No, they removed the charge-up to prevent Acolyte from being used for missile glitching, but as that didn't work, they changed it back.

Ignore Tabouleh. He was a bronze n00b at the time, and can't remember much.

Fixed - dont try and bring me down to your level

Then I think it's quite clear Bioware isnt that concerned with rebalancing the gun

Imagine if that actually fixed the missile glitch just how broken the Acolyte would be? I guess they could've changed refire time or something to balance it without the charge mechanic.

Pretty sure they will change guns and powers in the next game anyway, would be pretty lame to recycle current stuff anyway.

This thread is funny.

What I have learned is the Acolyte is comparable to cheating and using it means you are less of a team player.

They did. Then people whined because their favourite crutch wasn't as good as it used to be, and Biower caved in and changed it back the way it originally was.

And you should have less respect for people who outscore you using an Acolyte.

Yes, out of all the reasons to have less respect for someone, using the Acolyte is at the top of the list. People who use it are such selfish scrubs. How dare they score more than me! It is clearly do to them stripping shields and barriers with a gun instead of powers. :P

Being a PC player, I am not bothered by the Acolyte, I do not use it myself nor see others use it. There are more efficient entertaining ways of dealing with barriers/shield(I recall using one Reegar Carbine lvl 1 means you just vaporized a Banshee's barrier). Even though the Acolyte is overpowered (500% dmg vs barriers+shields, no dmg reduction from armor, stagger AoE, on lvl 1 only weighting 50) it doesn't bother me, although I must say it is somewhat odd that both me and my brother had this weapon at lvl 3 before any of the other rares.

Oh man... I think I've had a change of heart, lol.  I just saw this absolutely ridiculous video... and my hate for the Acolyte completely subsided.  It by no means discounts any of the arguments made against the weapon in the context of this thread.  But I honestly believe that the type of gameplay demonstrated in this video would not be possible with any other weapon.  It has got to be the most aggressive gameplay I have ever seen in an ME3 video.  Not saying that it is the most skillful, or even the most efficient, but it demonstrates that the Acolyte perhaps allows one to use their powers in the most aggressive manner possible.

Hmmm... I guess what I'm trying to say is that there is a silver lining with the Acolyte that I hadn't seen before.  Just as it can facilitate a dull, conservative play style as an l2p weapon (e.g. facilitating constant flamer spamming, for instance), it can also enable an extremely aggressive style of play in the hands of a skilled user.  In the latter case, the user's"skill" is obviously not measured by their proficiency with the Acolyte itself, but rather with regard to the effectiveness and efficiency with which they wield their powers.

Don't get me wrong, I still think the weapon should have been balanced better (e.g. more weight, less of a multiplier to shields and or barriers), but I just wanted to let you all know, that this Acolyte gameplay that I saw was truly exciting, and even a bit inspirational.

Here's a link to the gameplay that I came across if anyone is interested: very aggressive acolyte gameplay

sorry that you understood it that way.

I respect everybody.

Peterman just heard "score" and from then he only wanted to focus about being outscored and stuff, whereas my main PERSONAL issue with this gun is the dull gameplay and I also don't like the fact that the Acolyte/Hurricane is the best universal combination for every caster in my opinion.
Bioware should bring more variety into the antishield weapons.

Other people can use what they want and being outscored is not nearly as important as Peterman wanted it to be. I even explained that being outscored in most situations doesn't matter at all to me.
only: when I see guys like Heldarion do Headshot after Headshot, I have the greatest respect and know that I probably could not have done it. FOR ME PERSONALLY this is a difference to someone wielding a flaming Acolyte Reegar.
but my god, I respect both as a person ;-)

The aggressive gameplay in that video wasn't facilitated by Acolyte but by hacking enemy AI behaviour.

Fair enough, but irregardless, using a different weapon would have necessitated a slower (i.e. less aggressive) play style... which... may be more evidence supporting the "Acolyte is OP" argument, lol.  The reason I referenced the gameplay was simply to illustrate my misconception that using an Acolyte inevitably leads to dull and boring gameplay, which is not necessarily the case.

You're all over the place. The game play is dull to you but not others, so how does the weapon existing bother you? Just don't use it. It's really that simple. You brought up score to justify the impact to you, so I'm not sure why you're backtracking now.

I am sure that you are not.

but you will experience this with others, too,

if only you used enough looooools and words like "outscore" "be mad" etc. (which were not used before at all) and try to reduce everything to that.
