I'm not blaming the players. If I'm blaming someone, I'm blaming the devs for giving us a weapon that, in my opinion, has a negative impact on the game, its evolution, the metagame and the community.

 

The Acolyte did all of that? Wow!

I said "negative impact", not how big that impact was, which makes your comment look rather silly.

I've also explained my position. Are going to actually argue any of the points I've made, or are you just going to throw more ridiculing gifs at me like a real grown-up?
 

With the MP forum being around for as long as it has, you really think there has not been discussions about other weapons to use on the Fury? Probably even videos too. Many people use the Venom. Many people use the Acolyte on the Fury because it is incredibly effective. It doesn't make the kit easy to play, nor does it mean the person needs to learn to play. My Fury uses the Tempest and Acolyte. I did my Platinum solo using those two guns. I could have done it without the Acolyte... but why? It synergizes so well with her and I'm a super aggressive Fury.

Yes, other weapons have been discussions and there are some videos with other weapons. I know, I've been around. Doesn't change the fact that Acolyte dominates on the Fury, and it affects the amount and quality of said discussions and videos. (You see, we're talking about degrees again; you do understand that concept, right?)

 

Whether Acolyte makes Fury easy to play or not is a matter of opinion - for what it's worth, I think there are certainly many other kits and setups that are much easier than that. Still, Acolyte definintely makes the kit a good deal easier to play compared to most weapons. But you know what? That's not really the point. The point is that it offers simple, standard solutions to interesting tactical problems with practically zero downside. Just like I've written before in this thread. Have you read my previous posts?

If the Acolyte was removed from the game people would just find another weapon to flock to and we'd be having the exact same conversation except you guys would be complaining about how OP the Reegar is or whatever. It's just that the Fury wouldn't be nearly as fun (imo).

 

Besides, it's a co-op game. In fact I'd love it if more people would use the "zomg s00p3r OP pls N3rf" setups more often so I can play my Batarian Sentinel or whatever in peace without feeling bad.

I've played hundreds of platinum games and can't remember a single game that was "dominated" by an Acolyte/Fury. This whole "Acolyte ruined MEMP!!!1" is quite a subjective opinion only and something I hope the developers ignore.

Bad wording on my part. I meant that Acolyte is the dominant weapon on Fury.

 

Oh, and please keep your straw men to yourself. Acolyte didn't ruin anything, I just think it had more negative than positive impact.

You ever hear Jay-Z freestyle? The guy is trash. He bites lines, has no depth to his content, and has no unique flow. He's basically Biggie without talent and I hated him too. They're two of the most responsible rappers for the sad, sad, state of mainstream hip hop today. Never had a message, could never hold a candle to true legends like Melle Mel, KRS-1, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, or LL Cool J. The Acolyte's existence is at least partly responsible for the fact that I still play the game after 3 years. It expanded the game and made it better. Without it, I think the game would be weaker, and I probably would play less.

 

I know that's blaspheme to some people, and I don't care. The devs had plenty of telemetric data that we don't. They could see how much the Acolyte was being used, and its role in the game at large. PuGs rarely use it, especially when compared to Harrier or Reegar (which are far more problematic weapons to the "bigger picture" than the Acolyte ever was.)

 

The idea that Biotics need to have bigger disadvantages than other playstyles to make sure they can't perform as well seems disingenuous to me. But regardless, I think the Acolyte, while far from perfect, is anything but some game-changing mistake the devs made. There are big problems with the game, but no one is ever going to convince me the Acolyte is anything more than an incredibly minor one.

 

But then, I also don't care what other people think of what I use, so this is about as much energy as I'm going to spend on an argument that I see as largely pointless.
