Johnny was no Kanye West, Taylor Swift, Pharell Williams, Lady GaGa, Bruno Mars, Rhianna, Jay-Z, Beyonce, Sam Smith, Katy Perry or any other of the modern talentless 'superstars' - I'll give you that. I'll also concede, in a very similar vein in-keeping with the tone of your post, that he was truly no Elvis Presley, who was all the things you say and more - racist, obese and psychotically paranoid, to go along with his inability to write songs.  Still more influential than Carly Rae Jepson though.

 

Lady Gaga is extremely talented.  Beyonce is somewhat talented.  The others... not so much, especially compared with Johnny Cash.

 

BTW, Katy Perry has made $135 million in the last year.  She isn't talented at all, and she isn't really even very attractive other than her rack.  This makes me sad.

I had to like your post as I'd never seen the gif before and it gave me a good laugh, though I suspect you've misinterpreted its motivational potential. I view it as aspirational, not cautionary.  Johnny Cash died of a broken heart, not drug abuse, and was still producing high quality work up till the very end.  It's also worth noting that most of his actual health-damaging drug abuse was down to doctors misdiagnosing his illness.

GaGa? Ooh la la, look at all those jimmies I rustled.  She killed Clarence.  And ripped off Aqua's Barbie Girl.  Barbie Girl ffs!!!  And spotted a gap in the 'freak dollar' market. Big deal.  I find her voice grating and abrasive and I'd rather listen to traffic noise.  When you grow up listening to Joni Mitchell, Patti Smith, Debbie Harry, Kate Bush and (later) Maria McKee and PJ Harvey it's kinda hard to take her seriously as an artist.  And this isn't just an old fart thing - St Vincent and Courtney Barnett both produce something I do recognise as art.

I'll mess up this post if I attempt any more quoting, but I have to publicly say how much I thoroughly enjoyed your response to me, while at the same time being diametrically opposed to most of your opinions.  You sound like my best mate, who is also shackled by parenthood. I have a rather more oblique worldview, free of responsibility and shaped by growing up in what was perceived at the time as a war zone; the fact that I've been clinically dead once for around 40 seconds, and coping with an illness which has contributed to me having 9 general anaesthetics.  My IQ puts me in the 'top' 3%, whatever that means, while my income puts me in the bottom 3% of the UK population. I'm also a Triumph-riding left-handed Piscean divorced armchair-anarchist-Utopian stoner, so pursuit of higher understanding kinda comes with the territory.  That is not meant to come across as patronising or in any way superior, just a bit..... different..... and certainly out of sync with the mainstream, while they use their highly evolved opposable thumbs to give money to Apple or Stefani WhatsHisHerName.  To say that philosophy is a waste of time opens up an entirely different debate about the meaning of time, and death by falling off a unicorn actually sounds like a hell of a way to go to me.  I mean, if I don't end up going down the coke and hookers route, obviously.  And discriminating against famous people's views on the basis that they are famous seems a little blinkered, even for someone without a functioning soul, no?

Boogie - I should have put 'relatively' in my original post, and made it clear that I was talking about artistic capability or merit.  Jay-Z is an extremely shrewd and talented businessman, but his 'product' leaves me as cold as a snap-frozen cryo-shielded Phantom on White Hazard.

 

His more recent stuff, I can maybe understand (it's bound to happen when you've been making music as long as he has), but he certainly doesn't deserve to be lumped in with some of those hacks.

On a GI why would you want to take anything other than AP IV? You're going to OSK most everything with one headshot other than mid tier and boss enemies and they aren't going to take that many shots either. 

 

You would want to take something other than AP IV if you do not have AP IV, LOL.  As you know, the RNG can be a real b!+ch sometimes.

My initial gift packs granted me the Eagle I and Turian Soldier... didn't miss the acolyte at all.  So yeah, I get it now.  Sorry for being a n00b.

 

Really begs the question tho: does it make sense to have different balance changes for PC than for console?

I am just tired of aiming at the feet (which is no challenge at all) and do ridiculous shield-barrier damage + cause mass-staggering.

You ever hear Jay-Z freestyle? The guy is trash. He bites lines, has no depth to his content, and has no unique flow. He's basically Biggie without talent and I hated him too. They're two of the most responsible rappers for the sad, sad, state of mainstream hip hop today. Never had a message, could never hold a candle to true legends like Melle Mel, KRS-1, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, or LL Cool J. He's garbage and I wish he had done a battle with ODB cause he'd eat him alive.

I just want to say that after 2000+ hours I have yet to give a flying chuff about what anyone else does in the game, and am bemused when jimmies are rustled because of it.  That said, the idea of using an Acolyte on a Krogan makes the rage rise within me, but it's usually followed by a smirk and a muttering of the word 'pyjak'.  

 

I adore playing the Justicar with an Acolyte, but she's the only character I do use it on.  Why should I care if others equip it more? Am I supposed to be irritated that my teammates are killing efficiently or trivializing Phantoms in particular? F*ck Phantoms, they deserve it. The Acolyte doesn't blind or cause screen-shake so I'll never understand what the problem is supposed to be. If this is a score-related concern, I can only roll my eyes and point out once again that score is beyond irrelevant in a co-op game.

I'll have to check out some of the original Krysae vids, sounds amazing the way you describe it.  Tbh, I didn't unlock the Krysae until after the nerf, and well... the post nerf basically blows chunks, lol... hard.  Cool idea, but for a sniper rifle unable to take advantage of the headshot multiplier... they probably should have just left it as a cheese gun instead of nerfing it so hard.

It did make multiple phantoms a joke, and turned them into mush in two rounds by shooting at their feet.
