One of the things missing from previous games in the series so far has been crossbows. Beyond Varic's custom crossbow, I was disappointed that we couldn't use one ourselves. We could use them in DA:O, they were slower but they weren't out of place. Something similar could be implemented here.
In addition to this, I'd like to see the return of the berserka specialisation. The three playable classes should each get another specialisation; something focussing on range (such as the ranger) or perhaps duelling (duellist?) As for the mage, I'd ideally like to see the return of healing magic, but that's maybe a stretch too far - but definitely needs another addition to the available rosters.
I'd like to see a greater variation on armours too; I feel like my warrior has worn the same variation of coat and scale mail the entire game. I've not found any more interesting armour schematics better than the armour I've found on bosses or in the game world itself. The same thing can be said for weapons too.
Finally, I know this is also possible a bit too much to ask, but the explorable areas with their own individual quests feel good when you do them, but once completed, you really notice that they add little to the story or the ending of the story. I'd like some of these areas to be tied into the DLC quest-line in order to round it off. At the moment, I don't feel invested in exploring these areas because whether I complete those quests or not makes little difference at the end of the game. It also levels my characters to a point where I am stronger than the recommended level for story progression making the main quest ludicrously easy (or at least easier on nightmare).
