So it seems Darkspawn in "Return to Ostagar" are falling dead of their own accord.

It's almost as If I've used "Killallhostiles"

No idea what's going on, never had it happen before. It's making gameplay really uninteresting.

Mods: Advanced Party & Advanced Tactics

I'll try and get a video up.

So after reloading the save for the third time, it would appear that damage numbers are appearing so they are being hurt but they're killed with very little damage, too little for level 8 enemies.

The Bereskarn (Level 10) seems to be taking damage normally.

(The 46 & 20 are one hit knockouts - Really?)

Been to a different area where battle seemed normal, returned to this area and the same is happening.

That happened to me too, but only in the tower and just during the first part. After that it was back to the usual. It's like when you are fighting them at the end of the game. One hit wipes them out.

At the end of the game too? That's the best bit!  :(

I've even tried loading an earlier save but the same happens. Very irritating.

This is my first playthrough as an AW and I was really enjoying it!

Yeah it's just a quick kill.

For a moment i thought it was a mistake and panicked lol but it seems to be made that way.

Made that way? I've never had such an easy time during my thousand other playthroughs.

If this does happen at the end of the game, may have to try a mod to make Nightmare even harder (and keep my finger crossed!)

So I've just spotted elemental damage works fine, it's just 'normal' damage that causes this bug.

I never used mods on my first PT and I bought the Ultimate Edition. Everytime I fight those pesky Darkspawn in Redcliffe and Denerim before the final fight, they drop like flies from any hit. It's never changed through any PT, so I assumed it was intentional, but maybe only on Casual. I am playing through each difficulty one Origin at a time and just completed Casual, but since you're also having that issue in the Tower from the DLC, I'm wondering if something's messed up?

Hurlock and Genlock Grunts all fall dead with one hit. They are made that way to make the player feel like a badass Grey Warden. And there are many of them in Return to Ostagar.

I see you are a mage so, maybe you are using a spell that affects all enemies around, hence why all Grunts just fall dead.

But I've never had it happen previously!  <_<

The only spells used are set to Enemy: Rank is Elite or Higher (bar Heal) and none are damage spells.

The sustainable spells I have active (as you can see in the screenshot) are Combat Magic, Miasma, Rock Armour, Death Magic and Spell Wisp, again none are damage-dealing.

In any case other characters also do OHKOs.

Anyway I continued and it seems just to be inside the tower this occurred, not when fighting the Genlock Necromancer etc.

Maybe Morrigan is doing it?

Anyway, you should check it. If the ones dying in one hit are named "Grunt", it's perfectly normal.

Bloody Morrigan! But no.

I don't have a save from that point, so can't check if they are grunts.

Not to worry, for the sake of just 12XP I'm not worrying too much!

OK, so this playthough has got to be the most bizarre one yet for me, I'm experiencing bugs I've never heard of:

You mention bereskarn, but I don't think you'd get a level 10 one for a PC or ally with Shapeshifter/Ranger at level 10. Is the bereskarn allied with the darkspawn, or was that a misnomer?

I think the Ranger Bear becomes a Great Bear, not sure how that is different from Bereskarn. Master Shapeshifter does have the PC turn into a Bereskarn though, with the Overwhelm ability attached.

No, I meant the Bereskarn that's caged and released by the Darkspawn, not an ally.

As far as I know, it's just the way RTO works.  The grunts really are one-hit wonders, much of the time.  The pack was as much excursion or fundraiser as it was lore-builder.  I always thought the hardest part was getting the save to take so that I could side with Sophia initially, then come around and fight her with Alvernus, then kill him after the fight, and still get Sophia's gold, no less.  No matter what I did, I could never loot the Warden Commander armor from Sophia before the cutscene.  What can I say?  I liked the way the armor looked, and it wasn't a bad set.  If that was one of the main reasons for doing the DLC, why choose an ending that didn't give me the loot I wanted.  I would have liked all the loots....

It's also possible that the grunts you saw drop for seemingly no reason were actually hit by something but the lag took a moment to register the damage.

Nope, no lag here!  :P

And I kept an eye on every single attack.
