No offense intended when I say that time travel is one of the few things that could make the existing situation even more ridiculous. The original trilogy should lie where it fell.

Well the Mass Relay's just make the object traveling through them massless so that it could reach FTL without needing universe size amounts of energy to just achieve light speed.. err so when they reached their destination the clocks went back an hour for the rest of the universe...all very simple really... or you could just say it involves space magic for brevity.

"FTL drives are devices which allow ships to travel at FTL speeds through space. FTL drive cores work by exposing element zero to electric currents, creating mass effect fields. It reduces the mass of an object, such as a starship, to a point where velocities faster than the speed of light are possible. With a mass effect drive, roughly a dozen light-years can be traversed in the course of a day's cruise without bending space-time and causing time dilation."

It is call Mass Effect for a reason.

I don't really know why you'd want to go back to the ending of Mass Effect 3.

Let me try to explain...

Do you remember the Shepard-Clon in the Citadel DLC ?

Well...travel back in the time before the ending...

Save that guy. Punch him in the face and keep him in stasis until we reach the crucible.

Then wake him up, push him into that ray that beams him up and vanish with Tali in that last shuttle.

No matter what he does, the Reapers will be gone and Tali and my Shepard are free for their Varren-Breeding...

:)

(ok, he may shoot the starbastard and all will die... but remaining risk... and if he takes the blue choice and controls the reapers, maybe we got an evil, allmighty, eternal overlord... but remaining risk...)

But to be serious, uhm... no, please no such bullcrap.

I dearly miss the old setting every time i am done with a playthrough and i dearly miss many of those characters i get used to over the years.

Sometimes they feel like deceased pets to me that i had a good time with and that are now gone (it takes alot to make a game that gives a player that kind of emotions, and it obivously does for many people), but the milkyway-triology is done.

D... o... n... e....

The new setting may destroy the Mass-Effect-Feeling for some of us, or it may not, but that is the risk we have to take anyway.

If ME 4 fails, it fails, but our chance to get new life in our favorite virtual universe (at least for me it is), lays now in Andromeda, for better or for worse.

You do realize I wasn't being serious in my explanation, (apart from the bit about the energies involved to push an object like a ship to light speed). Mass Effect isn't hard sci fi..

...So as I said Space Magic or Mass Effect fields if you prefer...

Offended? No. Shocked? Not really.

I would be upset and disappointed though.

Mostly, I'd think it was hilarious. The point of going to Andromeda is to not deal with the original setting, and Bio's going to immediately reverse that?

To be honest I wasn't that bothered by the ending 3 and I personally don't care too much if it does work it's way back around. I honestly am hoping there is some overarching element or theme that will tie into on of the ancient MW races or something to serve as connective tissue but beyond that I am beyond good with a brand new trilogy or wherever they take it.

That other thread about "What if the guy in the trailer was Shepard" made me realize that nothing would actually surprise me.

I don't care so much, but they'd better make it great and so it somehow makes sense.

I really, really hope MEA has nothing to do with the other 3 games. The only thing in common is the Title, Mass Effect.

Cheers

If at any point the Andromeda storyline folds back into the ending of the original trilogy, I want it to be accompanied by a goddamn trigger warning.

I'm completely indifferent to the original trilogy. If it never gets mentioned, I'll be fine.

If it does get mentioned, I might not notice.

Word.

The Earth is a flat disc carried on the backs of four elephants which are standing on the shell of a massive turtle that is moving through space.

Somehow the Andromeda storyline folded back into the end of the original trilogy? Like say you return to the Milky Way with advanced tech via temporal displacement or something outlandish like this.

McCasey for two, for violating their artistic integrity.
