I don't care for FB3 that much, but seriously, BioWare didn't choose to use it, they were mandated to use it by the company that writes their paychecks, EA.

@nobody

I for one think they have done well getting it to work with RPG systems, they had to spend more time developing engine systems which gave them less time to develop story and content. I am also not on the "BioWare Bad Game" bandwagon that seems to be so fashionable these days. Aside from the few issues that I ran into (some I fixed myself), I think the game is really good and am much happier with DA:I than I was with DA2 (and I also liked DA2). At the end of the day (or any day up to now), DA:I hasn't failed to entertain me (neither did DA2 despite all its flaws).  We choose whether to be angry at toothpicks or accept the world and everything in it as it is, flawed, because nothing is perfect and nothing is as we expect.

I am not sorry, but I sick of this "it's not Bioware it's EA fault" BIOWARE IS EA. DA:I is full of bad design decision and not only on corporate level. I don't think suits forced make DA:I "open world" and fill it with fetch quest to sink time.

Spoiler

DA:O and all Witcher games are "perfect" I get everything what I expected and more. If you think DA:2 was bad. I think it was fine. I think DA:I was worse then DA:I. I don't care much about world and levels. Most important story, characters, and quests. I have more fun in my one cave in DA2 than all DA:I. I rather have one have filed with good story's than big empty world.

.... Bioware was EA even before DAO.

In any case - whether you like it or not DAI and its formula was successful, even if not perfectly implemented. Same with, say, Witcher 3, which also went 'open world', despite NOT being part of EA.

Also, the one thing that seems to be holding DAI the most on technical level isn't Frostbite, but old-gen platforms (PS3/Xbox 360).

I've been a Bioware fan for many years now, but something seems to be going wrong behind the scenes.

Dragon Age: Origins was released in November 2009. Two of its dlcs dropped same day (Warden's Keep; The Stone Prisoner). Return to Ostagar first came out in January 2010. The expansion Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening dropped in March, and almost immediately Feastday Gifts & Pranks followed in April. The Darkspawn Chronicles released in May 2010. And that's not counting the various promotional items released through retailers. To spectacularly round things off Bioware gave us the "wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am" triple header of Leliana's Song, The Golems of Amgarrak and Witch Hunt in July, August and September 2010 respectively. Although I'm not going to list them, Dragon Age 2's dlc (albeit more limited in comparison) were released in a comparable timetable.

Dragon Age Inquisition came out in November 2014, and all we've seen is Jaws of Hakkon in March, the Black Emporium in May and the oddball drop of Spoils of the Avvar (which seems like nothing more than leftover fodder from JoH) last month, A single story related dlc in eight months? WTF??

The rumor mill is spinning beyond all decency with the devs invested in such silent running tactics, but the industry is reporting that an upcoming third dlc will close the books on Inquisition. So JoH, BE, and whatever else is in the works is supposed to be it???

DAO had an abnormally large number of dlcs compared to other Bioware titles. I'd expect we end up with three story dlcs (JoH, whatever it is that seems like it will be coming out soon, and a dlc closer to the one year mark which might be the dlc discussed in the leaked survey).

Well duh, EA owns them.

Doesn't mean the usual developer/publisher relationship doesn't apply to them.

ME1 had Bring Down the Sky and Pinnacle Station, 2 DLCs. DA2 had Mark of the Assassin and Legacy, 2 DLCs.

Well, if you count Exiled Prince DA2 had 3.  I don't, though, that was day-1 DLC.

Personally, I think that if the next story DLC counts as an expansion and if it's the last story DLC they planned... I won't be mad once they move on to the sequel projects.

I dunno as long as i've been part of these forums i swear everyone looks at games like DA:O and ME1, etc with rose tinted glasses.

Great games, no doubt, but they are not perfect (neither were all the witchers in my opinion).

DA:I is also a great game but its not perfect, granted i do enjoy it and its story more than DA:O and DA:2; But thats also because its the DA game i'm currently playing.  Just like i'm sure i'll enjoy each successive game more than the last even if i miss this bit or that bit.  But i can enjoy the next title without condemning it from being like the last one.

But i have yet to play ANY bioware game where i did not LOVE some of the characters so they are all good in my book.  I just hate this mentality that if game b isn't exactly like game a then its crap.

Most gamers i've known personally dont divvy games up in that manner, they enjoy a game for what it is and just like with a movie it may not ALL be perfect but it wills trike  enough chords to be enjoyable for the time they spend with it.

That said so far, i've also enjoy Witcher 3 WAAAAY more than 1 or 2 which for various reasons either bored the hell out of me or annoyed me for some reason or another.

But one can be a fan of multiple RPGs without the need to compare and claim x is better than y because of z.  Just like one can enjoy a plethora of JRPGs without always comparing them to FF7 :P

Much as I really really loved TW3 and do on balance think that it is a better game than DAI (both excellent games though),  I am still very undecided about whether I will bother with TW3 expansions.  As I understand it they will take place within the timeframe of the game which doesn't interest me at all.  I was already struggling to justify all the dithering about playing cards and taking on contracts that Geralt was doing when he should have been getting on with the fairly urgent task at hand.

On the other hand, DAI dlc that is post ending is a  no brainer, get it on release date purchase for me.  I care more about the DA universe than TW, and will probably always be more invested in the story as I get greater freedom with my character and choices.  So regardless of what is being released at the same time, be it TW3 expansions or Fallout 4, I'll still be getting the DAI content (except for the Avaar armour - too ugly)

I will be very disappointed if we don't get more closure on Inquisition and really hope for two more DLCs

I think two more story based DLC would be the realistic approach. One of them would obviously be the Inquisitor going after Solas for answers. I only hope it's not an carbon copy of witch hunt. While my guess for the next one would be the Grey warden civil war, as it's an major plotline that was left pretty in the open after the epilogue. Not to mention we never found out what happened to Hawke (or the warden ally).

Nice to know that all the whooping and hollering, all the finger pointing and binary thinking is still alive and well while I've been laid up.

We don't know what the survey is, since we have zero context for it. It may be a third or a fourth in the pipe line. We don't know. I wouldn't worry about it for the moment.

I also think we may hear something in the next week or so. Not release but press. Don't think it will be Wolf Hunt. I do think we may be dealing with Weisshaupt going silent.

Oh, and get joh if you haven't. It really is a good story, with some nice lore, and it clarifies a bit about how we got to the t/m conflict.

Well, I'm very much looking forward to getting more story content for this game. I really enjoyed JoH, and I'm looking forward to possible follow-up to something more major than Avvar shenanigans.

So this is a thing:

http://forum.bioware...-of-the-qunari/

It might point towards the leaked survey being at least partially accurate.

I have to admit, it is speculation but just think about it....CDPR made it public that Witcher 3 has sold 4 million units in just two weeks. Assuming that DAI is doing better, wouldn't you think EA would have came out and publicly release the sales numbers for DAI?  I mean, EA publically released numbers for Mass Effect 3, saying that it sold 890,000 units in North American. EA ALSO released numbers for Dragon Age 2, saying that it sold 1 million units in just two weeks. Both DA2 and ME3 are Bioware's most recent games not counting DAI but for some mysterious reason, EA chooses not to mention any hard numbers publically but instead goes with the vague "Biggest Bioware lauch....". THEN you have CDPR come out and publically say they sold 4 million which again ignited the debate over why isn't EA releasing hard figures for DAI? What are they hiding? If DAI was the biggest launch for Bioware, you would think of all companies, EA would be bragging and letting the world know just how great their game is doing.....but they don't.

Many unofficial estimates have DAI at around the 3.5 million mark which can possibly be higher than that by  now. I wouldn't be surprised if DAI has broken the 4 million mark but again, we don't know cause EA is interestingly enough keeping quiet on DAI's numbers which is weird given that they were public with both ME3 and DA2.

OH, I just found this, EA ALSO revealed hard numbers for Mass Effect 2! Saying that is sold 2 million units workwide in it's first week. So this makes THREE games prior to DAI that EA publicly announces numbers but for some reason, is all quiet on DAI's numbers.

This leads many to believe that EA will eventually just pull the plug on DAI after this next DLC and just focus remaining efforts on DA4.

Well EA have said that it was the most successful launch in Bioware history and clarified that the figure was based on units sold, but did not disclose that number.

In their January stockholder call two months post-launch they said that players had logged 113 million hours in single player.  So that figure can be used to at least estimate the sales... If the average player played the game for 113 hours in those two months, you would get one million sales... I think the average player had nowhere near that much playtime, especially only two months in... So I believe its a safe bet the game sold at least one million and change.  Though probably closer to two million or more.  And that was in January... The game has been on sale a few times since then and the number can only go up...

Also I think that Witcher 3 figure is kind of inaccurate/misleading and includes bundled keys.  As I know ten different people who are playing/have played the Witcher 3 since it launched and only two of us bought the game... For the rest of us it was included in our GPU purchase... It was included with all 960/970m + cards since November last year...

Nvidia was shipping nearly eight million GPUs per quarter last year... And Witcher 3 was bundled with all of their GPUs above mid range for the last two+ quarters... We are talking at least hudreds of thousands of Witcher 3 keys, if not millions... And they hand them out like hot cakes... I RMA'd my 970 at Microcenter and they printed me off another key on my new cards receipt even though I didn't buy anything new.

I highly doubt they sold four million units AND have millions more keys out there on top of that...

BioWare is a division of EA, but it is still its own company, a Corporation operating under a Canadian ULC to be exact. BioWare still has some autonomy but ultimately must follow the direction of the BOD that control the holding company.

EA/Bioware is similar to your body and one of your arms. You may find yourself absent mindedly scratching your ass from time to time, doesn't mean you're not doing it.

I'm getting all the BioWare-dlc. I haven't played a single BioWare game that I did not have fun playing, loosing track of time and just living in Thedas. That's the thing for me, how much I care for Thedas and all the people I have gotten to know while playing. Looking forward to the next story-dlc! Haven't played through JoH yet, waiting until I get more gametime, currently I can only get an hour here or there. When I play Dragon Age I want to be able to lose myself in it for hours. But I am in no hurry, it is just as nice for me to know that it is there, waiting for me until I can get some more  time.

Not going to buy the Witcher, nice for those who have fun playing it but I prefer to play as a female character. The last time I played a male char was The Nameless One in Torment from the Black Isle Studio in 1999. Since then I have focused on other games. I try every now and then, in SWTOR I have a few male chars waiting, but I just never play them. They just keep waiting around, should really delete the poor guys so someone else can get the names.

Have fun playing everyone!

Still no concrete news about story dlc?

After loosing so many hours in the witcher3 I most welcome dlc to dive for countless hours back in DAI again.

What a fabulous year it has allready been playing great RPG's.

I am more worried there is no concrete news about delivering dlc's for DAI and how many we can expect still.

No news as far as I know. With the large update and new Qunari item pack some are speculating that a story DLC is right around the corner.
