Who thinks this would be for the best?
People kept complaining about Shepard being the protagonist of a trilogy so how about we get to play a new protagonist each new Mass Effect and import our choices like the programmers did for Dragon Age's franchise?
I think I would be okay with that. Also, the more the story spread through three different games, the more I felt it lost focus and couldn't been much shorter. So I suggest that each game is a new setting in the Mass Effect universe, with new stuff to do every time and connecting elements here and there that will remind us of our past actions. There.
That's my suggestion and probably the last thing I'll post as a thread before we get more news from the game by the end of 2015.
[Suggestions] New Protagonists Each Game? No More Trilogies?

I actually got the feeling people were complaining that this would maybe be not a trilogy. What Mass Effect made so good was because of it's trilogies, much time for character development and the cliff hangers (Mass Effect 2, jesus). I would seriously think jumping off the hype train if it turns out to be a non-trilogy.

I think They meant that we won't get Shepard as MC. I don't think They were referring to single protagonist-different protagonist in each game.

I'd really, really, really prefer this didn't happen, but I think you might get your wish.
I was so pissed off the way they ended Shepard's story, I'd rather have a new protagonist each game they make from now on... so I won't get this slap in the face each time I have to face a terrible ending for a character I loved.

I'd like something in between: isolated stories and consequences, returning protagonist and (some) squad members.
I'm okay for returning squad members and NPCs, but as for the main characters... I'd rather have them become something like Hawke in Inquisition so we can focus on new point of views. Though I understand why some people would rather not have the writers handle their characters without choices. Personally, I was one of the only persons who wished a better story resolution for their Hawkes and for the Shepards, but it never happened. Was quite satisfied with how the story ended for my Warden though.

Totally against.
ME had a stronger story because and it made you feel more invested to continue it. Just because it ended in a unstaisfied matter is not a great reason to burn the house down. That's a sympton of another problem of a bad ending.

I can totally respect that, it's just that in a perfect world there'd be a new trilogy without the sensation of a slap in the face for some at its conclusion.

This can happen anyway though.

"People kept complaining about Shepard being the protagonist of a trilogy"
They did? Shepard seemed pretty popular.
Trust me, a lot did and still do on BSN and Facebook. I miss my Shep but the writers said : "Bai Bai."

No thanks, but personally I think it's a terrible idea. Letting go of a PC we get used too isn't that big a problem. And most aren't upset Shepard is gone (note I said most.)
I didn't like them doing it in DA and I don't want them doing it in ME.
It works for games like Final Fantasy because each one is a completely new world/universe that just use similar themes (crystals, summons, etc)
Leave that aspect of a lot of JRPG's out of my ME.

Well, I didn't say it needs to be completely disconnected from the main franchise you know. I meant, a new protagonist, returning characters... Dragon Age style but with Sci-fi instead.

I've frequented the ME boards a lot off and on over the years and I can't even remember a single instance. How about some links? otherwise imperical evidence shows you're wrong. most loved shepard being in all 3. I've heard criticisms about the VA's and choices for dialogue that made him/her look dumb or whatever...but again...this "a lot" is something I'd like to see...As I haven't noticed it myself since ME1 over the years on any of the boards or sites I've seen ME talked about.

why not remake the games again with shepard and change the story slightly instead of making a lot or most of the fanbase mad

I definitely prefer separate storylines for each new game, but I'd prefer it if they stick with the same protagonist.

Eh, then you get those people who constantly compare them and pine for the return of X and Y in another game.

It's a way of speaking. And sorry, I call everyone honey by habit.
My point is that the endings aren't the only reason why I'm upset with the former trilogy.>
Then again, that was unfair since you can't read my mind.
