So firstly I know this is in the wrong section, but there is almost no activity over in the DA2 parts of the forums so I apologise in advance to anyone I have offended.

Now for the topic, I have heard alarming things about DA2 and Windows 10, specifically that it won't work. Is this true? I am very worried since I love playing the older DA games every once in a while.

With the update coming in the next few weeks I'm becoming very hesitant.  :(

While OS upgrades come with a lot of benefits for gamers, such as increased performance and stability for modern releases, they also bring issues of compatibility for older ones.

Honestly though, I don't think DA2 should have many issues with Windows 10. It's much more likely that there's a problem with Origin. A fix should be out relatively soon.

According to Windows Compatibility Center, Dragon Age 2 is compatible with Windows 10 Technical Preview. Once Windows 10 is officially out it should still be compatible. I don't use Windows 10 so I can't comment personally, but I wouldn't worry too much. What alarming things have you heard about the game other than it not working? any error codes? And where did you hear this from?

Like I said it's probably the Origin software acting up.

Given that, under Windows 8, DA2 (as well as Origins and Inquisition) all cause my computer to occasionally reboot itself, I'm hoping there will be some sort of magical fairy line of code in 10 that fixes that problem, if anything.

Probably hoping in vain, granted, but still hoping, at least for now...

You sure that windows is the cause?

I replayed all major games of the past ten years during the time I have win 8 respectively 8.1, including NWN 2 + expansions and of course all DA games.

Problems: Absolutely none.

I pre-ordered win 10 and hope, that things get even better.

No, not sure of the cause at all, but since all other attempts to troubleshoot it so far have failed, and most others may involve significant money to test and/or fix, I'm just kinda hoping to get lucky with this one.

Just a quick question (I am still using Win 7)

Did Microsoft remove the option to launch a program in Compatibility Mode? NWN2 was unplayable on my PC, crashing every 5 minutes. Once I launched it in Windows XP Compatibility Mode it worked fine. If you'll still be able to use DA2 in compatibility mode I think everything should be fine...

I read it online (I think on the reddit) where users were saying they were having issues with getting it to work.

I would also like to ask anyone with a NVIDIA card, do you see graphical issues with DA2? I get issues where an enemies head is invisible, or the ground is shaded in a square type thing. Like very random graphical issues. I had none of these issues with my old ATI card but I did have some with my 760 and my current 970 SLI setup.

Known driver bug. I think it's on DX11 so maybe try DX9?

Eh, that's annoying. I'll try DX9 next time I'm in game.

The W10 TP's been know to auto-install bad video drivers. Other than that it runs most games pretty well. The only thing I can't run is ToEE.

Will it overwrite already installed drivers?

Both DA2 and Origins run fine on my (Intel i7-4770 / 16GB RAM) Win10 Preview rig.

No "Compatibility Mode" tweaks required.
