Single player also allows you to start with the most stupid OP weapons in the game.
And it still takes a long time to get enough money to level them up, and I get to choose what and when I level up. I like choice. Now it just comes down to when to unlock specific weapons. Common, then Uncommon, then Rare, and finally UR seems like a good progression to me.
But it encourages you to try other weapon classes. Which encourages replay value.
There's a difference between encouraging and forcing. I've played with every weapon in the game, but by this time I know what I like and don't like. I also know what I'm in the mood for at that moment. The game shouldn't dictate what I'm allowed to play. I've said from the beginning, if we can't buy the weapons we want, then let us unlock the next weapon by doing challenges with the previous ones. That way I have to use the Katana to get the Eviscerator in order to get the Graal in order to get the Disiple and so on until I get to the Wraith and Venom. I agree that's "forcing" a player to use a weapon, where as now they can just let it sit on the shelf and hope for a better item to drop, but this goes back to the illusion of choice for the player. Many would suffer through playing with a certain weapon for a few games if they KNEW they would get a specific weapon afterwards.
Getting stuff like Hurricane in the first pack breaks the game. After which players only stick with the most OP thing they have. So consider yourself lucky. And try everything else too. Eventually you'll keep getting other stuff to try out, and replay value continues with it.
I got the Hurricane in one of my first commendation packs. My game wasn't broken. Why are people getting so hung up on people playing with good items in a coop game? Do you get mad when people put on consumables too? Yeah, I use mostly rare and UR weapons now, mainly because I don't care for a lot of the common and uncommon ones. I also don't use a lot of rare weapons because I don't like them, and I even don't use several UR weapons because I don't like them. The only thing they have in common is my personal preference to not liking them. Other people probably do like them. It's all down to the person.
