Saw the film last night. It was surprisingly GOOD. After the last Terminator flop, I'd lost hope.

But... There's one thing. One thing that made me grit my teeth, furrow my brow, and look around the theater for anyone else disturbed by what was on the screen. (No MEU people there apparently... )

...

...

That damned AI kid from ME3 seems to be in the new Terminator.

&&^(&^^%!!!##@!!@$%^&&!!!@ !!@$#$#@@%$#@%$%$#

I know I hate it.

I know I cannot finish ME3 anymore without MoDs because of it.

... And it's got a new gig.  Granted it's not on-screen for long. But it's appearance got my blood pressure up. Brought back those feels of hate. Feelzzzzz. You know?

ARGH! UGH! Stay DEAD child AI. Stay DEAD!

I liked the movie, but having thoughts of the kd/catalyst in ME3 was the furthest thing from my mind

Throughout most of the movie I was fine. Can't say enough about the movie. Its GOOD.

But as soon as that thing popped on-screen... You didn't correlate? You didn't hear the similarity in voice. The size of the kid? The hazy bluish white coloring?

None of that resonated?

...

Just me?

People say this movie has messed up the stories of all previous 4 movies.

Nah. Kaiser.

Its infinitely better than the last Terminator.

The series needed a reboot and they did an awesome job. Arnold is Awesome (and I'm no fan of his). Danny (Emilia Clarke) does a decent job as Sarah. The guy playing Kyle Reece grew on me.

The twists were not always foreseen, at least not by me.

I recommend everyone sees it for themselves before judging.

No, you're just easily pleased is all. The film is receiving mostly negative reviews across the board and has a 27/100 on Rotten Tomatoes. Everything post-T2 has been terrible and nowhere near the standards set by the first two films. This franchise doesn't need to be rebooted, it needs someone who actually cares about it and isn't afraid to do something new with it. It needs someone who is competent and isn't only there for the paycheck.

The terminators are a boring and outdated concept today. I know a lot of people will disagree with me there, but deep down you all know it's true. There is nothing more that can be done with them that hasn't been done already. So, looking at it from that perspective, why not continue where T2 left off? The terminators simply don't exist in the current timeline, so you have to start thinking about other ways to expand the universe and go beyond the terminators. If you don't do this you get stuck in a loop that you'll never see the end of. You'll rely entirely on the terminator gimmick for each movie you make and it will become more and more stagnant and unimpressive. That's exactly what has happened unfortunately.

Movie universes, like game universes, have to expand beyond just what's familiar in order to stay relevant. Every director that has taken over for this franchise has been scared to death of T2's ending. It's either briefly mentioned like it was in T3, or sidestepped entirely like it was in Salvation. They're scared of it because they don't know what to do with a movie that actually concluded the story. It means they would have to actually invent lore and create new ideas and concepts for their films instead of relying entirely on Cameron's work.

So... when did you  go see it? Or is the above based on what others have said?

Have you seen the movie?

No, and I really don't want to because the trailers already gave away so much and the reviews have been very poor. I don't have to see a bad Terminator movie to say it's bad, just like I don't have to see a Transformers movie to say it's bad.

The thought also crossed my mind. I was reminded a little bit of the starchild. I think genesys is reaper tech. There's always been an organics v. synthetics theme to the terminator films though, so no surprise there.

Movie was pretty good as a whole. I've always liked Sarah though.

Okay.

I don't mind that reaction. I would probably feel the same if I was in your shoes. All I can say beyond what I've already said is that I'm looking forward to the Terminator rights reverting back to James Cameron in a few years. I hope he either buries it forever or goes on to do something great with it.

They both had questionable writing and plots, I'll say that.

I was sniggering inside when I saw Matt Smith pop up playing a villain.

The film was okay but not great. I'd say it was watchable but I'll agree with the people who say that it contradicted the previous films and offered nothing new to the franchise. In the end it felt like a retelling of an old story but with new action scenes. I also found it highly predictable thanks to the writing.

No you don't. But talking as if you know what something is about with only secondhand knowledge isn't going to do you any favors if you want to be taken seriously.
