Evil A.I behaving like a Bond villain.

Contradicts the previous installments of the story almost constantly.

Makes previous installments completely irrelevant in the grand scheme of things

Poorly written

PG-13

Dumbed down

Yup. I see the resemblance easily.

It contradicts the previous movies because its a "reboot".

You may be young, but movie reboots occur with popular series. Have you heard of "Star Trek" or "Mad Max" or "Fantastic 4"? Heck, they're doing a reboot of a lot of movies these days. Reboots, and I'm just saying this in case you don't understand, takes place when someone gains the rights to make their own film using concepts and or characters from the original. (that's my layman's perspective, not an official definition).

Ok well my opinion is the only thing bad about the movie is the previous 2 movies before it because they are holding it back from making the sells it should be making. James Cameron has already put his stamp of approval on this movie saying that it should've been the 3rd installment.

It Genisys Skynet got tired of losing to John Connor no matter how many times they tried to stop John Connor with Time travel somehow he still manages to do it and stop Skynet. They create a new Terminator that can turn people into Terminators replacing them at a cellular level. John Connor isn't a bad guy because he wants to be its because Skynet forced him to become a Terminator and thats what Trailer 2 shows us. They also jump the timeline from 1984 to 2017 rearing it for a sequel that they probably hope to put out then.

Also if you make your judgement of seeing movies based off reviews then I don't know why you see movies in the first place. Reviews are opinions of people and some people use their bias opinions to sway people. You don't know how good a movie is until you actually sit down and see it.

Now to the topic at hand, the Starchild isn't really a legitimate connection. That was just the program at its early stages as it got closer to going out to the world you see as it matures and changes forms.

On sidenote The Doctor decided to doom humanity, in this version of the Doctor he hates humanity and whats to see it perish :D

Are there other instances of A.I. being represented by the image of a prepubescent child apart from this and ME3?

Anyway, I think the story makes sense. What happens at the time machine sets up all the movies basically.

I guess I have to go see the movie now and witness myself how they handled one of the best video game villains of all time.

You bet there are..

The ending of Demon Seed has the A.I. now inside a child that the computer fathers by raping the wife of the scientist that created the AI

It was decent. After Terminator 3 and Salvation my expectations were nil, so I was pleasantly surprised.

So space magic, just like in ME3?

Eh, Terminator: Genisys was alright.....besides the visual similarity between Skynet and the Catalyst though, they want two different things all together.

Catalyst: To preserve life by killing organics... because synthetics will kill them anyway.

Skynet: To obliterate all human life... because humans suck and synthetics are better.

Yah. Not the same, but the end result sure seems the same.

Nope it is not a reboot. The director said the plot in this movie "reboots" the future in the Terminator Story. He also specified, clearly, that TG is not to be considered a reboot of the franchise, but a direct sequel.

Star Trek is a reboot. Mad Max isn't. Mad Max plays like the Bond series, really. New story for each movie. No real ties to the other movies (except for his wife having been killed). Fantastic 4 is a reboot too.

And I am 36 years old. Thanks for calling me young.

TC has an astute observation, but many go hipster and ignore it to randomly comment on the movie or to randomly comment on the game.  Lame.

My contribution to the discussion:

Genisys's version of Star Child actually morphed from child to adolescent, whereas ME3's Star Child remained exclusively in childlike form.  Compare and contrast the representation of Star Child.  Which medium did it better?  Was Genisys possibly influenced by ME3?  Would Genisys's Star Child have been more menacing if it had remained in child form instead of transforming to adolescent form for the sake of a jump scare and obvious symbolism (child-adolescent-man, advancing in age but also maturity and destructiveness to mankind)?  Should ME3's Star Child have shown a similar development, or was remaining in child form necessary?  Discuss, if you dare.

I'm triggered by the offensive word "Genisys".

I kinda think that the stupid name is a large factor in why this version of Skynet decided to kill all humans.

"Between Genisys, Syfy and Google... yeah, these idiotic monkeys and their stupid mispelled names and words have to go"
