I've been playing MP for a while now and its just getting annoying not being able to communicate with my team in any way. My headset is broken so I am only able to use speakers so I cant use the Mic to talk, the game is on PC so there should be the option to be able to type to allies. I think it would be so helpful to even at least be able to type to people in the party lobby just to communicate to add each other. Or is there some reason a chat box is not in the game?

Because it is both a PC and console game. Chat would only work if you are playing only with other players on PCs. If you add a person who is playing on a console to the group you would be unable to communicate via chat with them. So a headset works for both PC and console.
Unlike WOW which is only for Windows and Mac and can therefore have both headset and chat features, DAI is for both console and PC.

There is no cross-platform multiplayer that I know of so is the only point of not having the chat because it would be unfair to the console players?
