In your opinion, what are some of the worst designed enemies?

IT would be quicker to ask what the "best" enemies are. When the game first came out everything seemed okay really then they introduced those challenges and balance changes and here we are...pretty much everything is broken. As you ask though in no particular order:

Collector husks/aboms (someone always blows them up on objective/extraction)
Dragoons (Silver upwards)
Rocket Troopers (multiple rockets simultaneously, cmon Bioware ffs)
Pyros (that flame reaches way too far)
Seeker Swarms

-Geth turrets do too much damage and the cooldown is too short. They need to either have a much longer cooldown, or do less damage.

-Banshees are too slow and their sync kill should be removed. I'd double or triple their speed, increase their attack damage, and remove the sync kill. They're a joke on Platinum with a half-decent team because like most enemies, they just get focus fired like crazy.

 

 

I disagree with the turrets on this. All you have to do is kill the engineers and/or use hard cover and the turrets won't be such a problem. Turrets are one of the most balanced enemies IMO. They can be destroyed fairly quickly, can't chase you, don't have a sync kill, are neutralized by hard cover, and have to be set up before they can attack you.

Cerberus in general is too reliant on the Phantom and Dragoon to carry the team. Nemesis is a very weak threat, and Guardians are easily bested by using piercing for even the people with the worst of aim.

 

Also Geth staggerlock should die in a fire. Possibly a fire that dealt damage at a range that is larger than the visual implies.

Every geth. The whole faction is based around artificially introducing "difficulty" via retarded stunlock mechanics. The shite design becomes glaringly apparent when you use a kit that can't be staggered, like worlard or Proguard, and shitstomp them without even trying.

The Prime is king of horrid design. Both pets are retarded, the sunlocking 100% accurate siege pulse is retarded, and countering it is just a matter of tedious RHA camping. Or a nuke, which is my way of rejecting biower's lazy gams design.

Edit: The best way to change them would be to remove the faction altogether.

You forgot to mention their stupid face. Makes me want to put a missile square in the jaw every time I see them. Disgusting.

You should play DAI multiplayer. Stunlock appears to be signature feature for Bioware developers introduced at every opportunity. Geth pale in comparison to despair demons with wallhack ice beams and mines that knock you down for the whole 3 seconds of stand up animation that cannot be cancelled. And some levels have 6 of these things. Also, there are no stagger immune kits in DAI. No geth scanner and no drill rounds either. Geth are actually not that bad. There are even some frames when you can dodge to get out and apply the ultimate cobra solution if needed.

Phantoms on host, especially platinum.

 

Quite lame that they not only survive a Point blank Claymore blast to the face, it only takes away like 2 bars of barrier - man that's messed up.

Reapers: I think they're all fine. Cannibals not giving a single **** combined as long as there's a dead comrade close by is a bit stupid, but other than that, the entire faction works together really well.

Cerberus: Dragoons, hands down by far the most retarded design (at least within the faction). They don't fit thematically and just make the entire faction extremely obnoxious to play against whenever they appear. They always appear alongside Phantoms, who aren't that bad otherwise (they could use a few minor tweaks to be reined it though).

Collectors: Seeker Plague is retarded, 'nuff said. Other units could use minor tweaks (more and louder sounds from Praetorians, Scion laz0r not hitting through walls, etc.)

Geth: Nuke them from the orbit.

Then blow up the planet, just to be sure.

Then blow up the mass relay in their solar system. Just to be sure.




Just kidding. But really. Assault Trooper is fine, Pyro would be nice with a fix on the range, same for Rocket Trooper if they fixed the cover bug causing him to quadra-rocket (also better hosting system). Same for hunter, just fix those bugs allowing him to shoot out of CC.

Bomber and Prime Drone&Turret though... those are just awful.

As they are moving the game anyway to a different galaxy we can only hope that they come up with new enemies and design from scratch. Knowing Bioware I doubt very much whether this will happen as they are so lazy in other areas.

Seeker Swarms and Plagues are, as far as I'm concerned, the worst design concept in the game. They are "your services are no longer required and here's a punch in the throat" bad. There are some things that could mitigate the problem (like, say, not making them harder to kill than Brutes), but the core concept is a problem in a game where anything that's not a bullet is a "power".

On that subject, the power bubble thing that Bioware loves so much is hogwash, as well. This is doubly so when the power-bubbled belligerent can use powers (which are much better than yours) right the hell back at you through the bubble. If I want that crap, I'll play cops and robbers with a five year old and be informed that he has a forcefield but all of his guns shoot exploding lasers. This already unforgivable design error is compounded by deeming everything a "power", from space magic to alternating current to kinetic energy from a fragmentation grenade. There's simply no way to make an enemy immune to everything all at once without looking like you just mailed it in. A limited and temporary immunity to a certain type of attack can make sense and force players to change tactics without a designer's "nyah, nyah" echoing through the game.

There are a lot of things that are hard to call, because I don't know if the designers actually meant for some of the stuff to happen or if they just couldn't get the ones and zeroes to line up right. I don't object, for example, to the concept of Geth Bombers--in fact, I kind of dig the idea. The implementation was sloppy, but the idea may have been pretty good. And who can guess what terrible combination of deleterious factors resulted in Geth Rocket Troopers?
