While I agree with your post I think there are still many people who play just for the sake of playing.

And until the game is fun they don't give a **** about anything else. I am one of them.

Yes of course I am not blind and I can see the flaws of a game, but as long as I am having fun I can easily overlook them. And I know many others like me..

The Witcher 3 did it yet it was well received by fans not to mention Bioware already canonized Udina as the councilor.

No they didn't. They have a different story depending on if Anderson was Councilor, in that he stepped down so his talents as a military commander could be utilized in the Reaper War. Not much, but it still adresses your choice of him being Councilor.

Deus EX: MD and Witcher 3 have the right idea do dealing with choices made from previous games, Bioware should do something similar.

No they don't have the right idea. As much as I love Deus Ex, they lost a lot of respect from me by doing the whole "We aren't addressing the thing(choices) that we sold you as very important".

It would be if it can't be salvaged but this is not the case.

The term space magic only applies to the Lazarus project and synthesis since they are poor written/implemented and lore breaking. Things such as element zero and biotics aren't space magic since they are made believable within the limitations of the lore.

Meh, tell how the Ardat-Yakshi works and Mindmeld. Biotics are ME's version of the force. Indoctrination is also a form of space magic and the Thorian.

The created will always rebel against their creators, especially when the creators are Bioware and the created are their fans.

Fans?

I don´t think so.

My post is probably going to start a war.

I loved ME3's ending. The game made itself great because of those difficult decisions that made you cringe no matter which way you went. I think some of us are forgetting that saving a GALAXY would not be easy, or delightful. It was a terrible situation, thrust upon a main character who had been going and going and going since ME1. Shepard's death in combat was inevitable, and it only served as the side to the main course. As much as we want to believe the main character was the spotlight, they weren't. The spotlight was the story, and me3's ending was the embodiment of a crazed antagonistic point of view.

I see where people are coming from in that the choices sucked. But so did the whole situation, and if something like this happened in real life, the choices might not be too great either. Life doesn't always give you what you want. And I personally loved the ending because it reflected just that. Yeah, I wasn't happy with it, being a die-hard ME fan, but sometimes you just have to go with the flow.

Which brings me to DAI...I loved that as well!! If MEA takes a few points from that, I'm not complaining. It was a hell of a lot better than DA2. But aside from this, Bioware said they are not going to take anything from that franchise for MEA, so that settles that argument.

Can we all just agree that no matter what our points of view are right now, we are all going to pre order MEA and get really excited for it the closer it gets to release. I know I am.

Yeah so am I I only really tend to complain about a game on a forum if I fid i'm not really enjoyinjg it that much like with F1 2013 as I felt Codemasters did a pertty dodgy job on that game with the AI whereas in the previous games I felt it was perfect. Fortunately they corrected the issues for their 2014 release but I tend to only complain when I don't enjoy it. Fortunately with Biowaer with regards the games I've played of theirs I've enjoyed all of them.

Which is never addressed in the game at all.  You shouldn't have to dig through the codex to learn the results of one of the most important choices in the trilogy.

And I lost a lot of respect for Mass Effect after reducing all this so-called "very important choices" to RGB and their awful implications.

I'd rather not address the choices since they were never mine to begin with.

The premise doesn't interest me. Any protagonist, even if they're the best-written protagonist of all time, will still be in Shepard's shadow. If they try to mitigate that by making the character exceed Shepard's might, it'll rightly get called out as a transparent, obnoxious attempt to get the character points with the pro-Shepard crowd. I don't really care about Andromeda, either. IMO the franchise should've ended with Mass Effect 3, or barring that, a continuation of Shepard's story. I think we'll get that eventually, but whether we do or we don't, this feels like a shoehorned, ancillary side story.

Well choosing to ignore the issue's completely doesn't really inspire much confidence that Bioware has learned anything from them.

Bullsh*t.

Going into ME3 they were faced with a lot of variables. Essential characters could have been dead because of the suicide mission. People could have sold Legion to Cerberus. People could have not opened Grunt's tank. Hell, even Shepard could have died, which of course ended up in a non-importable situation. But really they should have made you play Kaidan or Ashley and had a stooge fill in for them in the coup, and your only squadmates would be James and Liara.

Next: did you kill the Geth? Or did you kill the Quarians? or did you make peace? Each of these requires a different galactic situation unless you trivialize the races.

Next: is Wrex alive? or is Wreav in charge? did you cure the genophage? or didn't you? This one is a bit sticky because the Krogan will overpopulate their planet in 10 years, and if Wreav is in charge you have a new Krogan rebellion.... which brings us to the elephant in the room....

The ending..... They are not going to make three different games to satisfy everyone. They are not going to make destroy the canon ending. They are not going to make synthesis the ending. And they are not going to make control the ending. Plus all of the mass relays are fubared... severely damaged.... and will take centuries and quadrillions of credits to rebuild. Just think about how much rebuilding the Citadel will cost. The civilizations have more pressing matters like providing food, fresh water, and electricity to their remaining populations. Travel will be restricted to local clusters. The galaxy is a wasteland.

There is no way to deal with this without throwing out our choices and setting canons. I can guarantee you that if they did that no one would be happy.

But I killed Shepard in my last play of Mass Effect 3. I finally got closure on the series. Shepard jumped into the green beam. EDI is alive and not alone and had 12 iChildren with Joker. Even Wreav is happy now. It's time to bury Shepard and move on.

There are those of us who just want a well written story with good game mechanics.

I've never played any Halo games, so can't comment on the writing.

But yeah Mac as "creative director" whatever that means, tells me that the "Art" isn't going away.

Actually, a lot of the things we heard so far about the game sound good to me, especially if this leak is true. I`m not hyped, but I am more curious than I was before, and I'm not throwing anything under the bus before I've seen it. As for Andromeda, I'd rather stay in the MW as well, but let's face it, running from the ending consequences is the second best choice here (after canonizing destroy, but that's subjective). It gives the series a chance for a fresh start.

Nope, I won't. To me, Mass Effect is about the characters, not the story or the setting. If you strip away the characters that made the franchise enjoyable, it stops being interesting to me. No Shepard? No squad? No Normandy crew?

There might as well be Seinfeld with no Seinfeld, no Alexander, no Richards, and no Louis-Dreyfus. And no, I wouldn't watch that either.

Most sensible people will leave the forums well alone for the bitter and twisted to whine in.

My suggestion will be to pop back for N7 day and for E3 2016.

Time to follow my own advice for the ME:A forum, so see you in November  ;)

People complaining about a sci-fi game based on space travel actually letting you travel to a different part of space is ridiculous. Andromeda is still in the ME universe, just a different galaxy. If you were expecting us to never leave the Milky Way it's your own fault for being so short-sighted. Space is way bigger than any one galaxy.

Everyone has their opinion and I'm not trying to change anyone's or start any fights in this thread. I hope you guys can see where I'm coming from before the chorus of "OMFG GET A LIFE STOP COMPLAINING" happens

I liked ME3's extended cut anything. I consider ME1/3 to be masterpieces, and 2 to be very very good as well. Nothing I'm saying has anything to do with the ME trilogy, and everything to do with DAI.

MY problem is that the one thing we know about this game (it will be exploration heavy) is just something I don't care about. Dragon Age Inquisition's exploration was all around disastrous for me. I feel like the character driven Bioware formula simply does not go well with open world exploration heavy stuff, especially not the pseudo-Open World that DAI gave us.

For me, I felt that the quests took a complete nosedive from DA2 and DAO. It felt like I was playing Guild Wars 2. I don't know why everything had to be so. ******. tedious. with so. many. fetchquests.

I would love to ignore the fetchquests as I'm often harrased by forum users to do whenever I bring it up, but when you need to gain "power" or w/e to move on to the next story mission (....) I can't ignore them. The game literally FORCES you to do fetch quests. And there was significantly less plot driven content. That's simply a fact.

And finally, this open world I was supposed to explore? Completely empty, there was a lot of land, but very little interesting content that inhabited said land. Unless you count those shiny minigame things, fetch quests, and closing oblivion gates rifts

Why am I bringing up all these negatives? Because all we know about ME:A is that it will be exploration heavy.

I really really REALLY hope Bioware knows where they went wrong with DAI and knows where they went right (Almost everything not tied to the above was flawless) and makes a game that's actually worth playing more than once.

Especially since the ME trilogy was based on mysterious ancient aliens providing us with magical space travel.

A well written story from Walters and Halo 4s writer isn't going to happen, come to terms with it before you get too hyped.

I've said it before and ill say it again - Halo 4's story was actually very well written. I'm beginning to think that those that think otherwise probably just dont understand the story, because if they did, they would see why it was well written. Halo started as a mindless FPS, but over a decade it grew to have an extended lore that is deeper and more extensive than Mass Effects. Now, there were two types of Halo fans: CoD shooter fanboys and those who are like us, and love the universe and lore of Halo. And they had to appeal to both, at the same time, or Halo 4 would not be a commercial success.

The story of Halo had been heading in the direction of the Reclaimer saga for awhile, and the background of the story was laid out in subtle clues in the prior games, and fleshed out in detail in the novels - especially the Forerunner novels. And now, in order for the story to progress and humanity to become the Reclaimers, they had to introduce characters from the Halo lore which, again, is way more extensive than Mass Effect's.

That's a daunting task. I think the writer of Halo 4 succeeded, overall, although the story stumbled at times - such as during the Librarian's reveal - which no doubt had every casual Halo fan going "wtf is happening?"

And overall, he succeeded in making Halo 4 what it was supposed to be - a transition of a game. The transition between the action heavy, story light prior Halo games with a massive out-game lore, and the action and story heavy Halo games of the future, starting with Halo 5: Guardians. Halo 4 was a bridge between the two. And I think it was a narrative success, overall. Any Halo fan knew that Cortana had to die and the Ur-Didact had to be introduced to move the overall Reclaimer story arc forward. And that's exactly what they did. He didn't shy away from controversy, and he masterfully wove Halo 4's story with pre-existing lore, remaining truer to the lore than Bioware ever did with Mass Effect, and appealing to both casual gamers and hardcore Halo fans at the same time.

That's the kind of guy that knows how to work a new story into prior rich sci-fi lore. He was the perfect choice for Andromeda, honestly, and I think in retrospect a few years from now, most people will agree.

The reason why those aren't considered space magic is because they are well explained to make them believable within the limitations of the universe. The only things in the ME series that are considered space magic are the poorly written aspects of the series.

It's especially funny to me because we literally called this a year ago. We all knew this was coming. And yet, people were STILL surprised and upset by it. And it was even worse than that, because not only did we call it a year ago, but a month before the Andromeda reveal was a massive leak stating the game was set in Andromeda, the validity of which was supported by historically reliable industry insiders, and people STILL were surprised and upset. Seriously? I have absolutely no sympathy for people who are butthurt by this. It's your own fault for burying your head in the sand and not being open minded to change.
