can someone please explain why there is a delay in casting spells. We would throw a emulate and then have to wait quite awhile to cast any other spell... in some cases the spell the would just not be available to use?? explanation please..... getting very frustrated at only 3rd level!

Maybe you're out of mana?? The spells' icons grey out when that happens.
If you're playing with Keyboard and Mouse the UI doesn't give you feedback of how much Mana you'll need for the spell you just tried to use, you'll have to use a Lyrium Potion or just wait for the spells' icons to highlight again.
The Mana Pool UI stays around your character's portrait on the top left... FAR AWAY from the spells...

Just in case you are unfamiliar with this (and if I am reading your query correctly), all spells have a "cool down" period after i initially being used. These cool down times can vary from spell to spell, and can change if you have chosen certain passives, while leveling up. Check the spell trees to see about cool down times, and mana costs, for the individual spells.

It can't be cooldown if he is trying to cast a different spell. OP, is it possible you are still in the targeting step of casting Immolate? All other skills are blocked until you pick a target for Immolate.

Hmmm...good point. I lacked the reading comprehension, apparently, when I posted.
And yes, I assumed he meant "Immolate" as well.
