Most exlusives are tied up in first party studios though, there are some exceptions with third party ofc. All in all it would be better if every game came out on every platform, but then how would they sell consoles? If i could play God of War and The Last of Us on PC with 60 fps, why would i buy a PS3?

Because it's cheaper? Easier to use? Requires less maintenance?

And you can also easily take it (like some of my friends) for a lazy night shift at work, when nothing happens for 6 hours :P

Well, apart from occassional gems like Divinity: Original Sin, or Pillars of Eternity, the "pure" RPG genre is almost dead. If we count only AAA releases, then it's truly dead. Everyone shifted to Action RPG.

Plus Wasteland 2, Drakensang 1-2, Tides of Numenera, and some others coming up. Seems it is actually returning more than disapearing these days. Fallout 4 might be a proper rpg too.

Fallout 4 will be an action RPG/FPS.

Good of you to remind me of Tides of Numenera. I'm really looking forward to this one.

I've found that the VATS system is great at reducing the gameplay to a near-turn based system. That being said, the options of "Attack, Attack or Attack" when using VATS was always pretty limiting.

Fallout 4's V.A.T.S. will only slow down time.

Seeing how they've taken out skills, I highly doubt that. Sure, Fallout 4 can still redeem itself in my eyes by making perk unique conversation choices to substitute for Fallout NV's skill based conversation options, but I highly doubt they will.

Uhm...what? They have removed skills? When did this happen?

I'm aware. Not ideal... but it is still stat based (a character cannot hit a target in VATS if they don't have the appropriate skill, while a player can game the FPS portion to correct for the character's lack of skill), which is a big portion of RPG gameplay.

It hasn't. People are confusing the 10 level rating system (as opposed to 300% rating system) of skills to (incorrectly) mean there are no skills. Misinformation.

This project is ambitious, Guerrilla Games has mainly sticked to gritty war games, both contemporary and sci-fi.

And now your regularly scheduled reminder that the new consoles are ****. The new consoles are ****. Thank you. For more information, look at a new console and rub **** in your eyes.

The main character, Aloy, seems to be voiced by Bridget Regan.

I don't rightly know why, but I have the impression that this will be an overhyped game ala Destiny or Dead Island.

I mean, hunting robotic dinosaurs seems cool and all, but this game better have more than that under the hood. Also, the title is pretty bad IMO. Like they just mashed three cool-sounding words together and called it a day.

A lot of people hype this up and I'm the angry old man who's pessimistic about all the new stuff. All kidding aside, it looks interesting, but I cringed hard at the protagonist's dialogue in the footage, especially the "woah, someone's angry!" as she's running from the robosaur. It's her voice, the recording quality and the speaking-to-herself-ness that I find jarring, and it's weird to complain about now, but it makes it less appealing to me if it's indicative of the full game's style.

Also, we may get the context and it might turn out to be clever in the end, but "Zero Dawn"?. I'm getting Infinite Undiscovery, Legend of Legacy, Bravely Default title vibes here.

Apparently the demo was already playable at E3.  GT and IGN crew talk about the demo, story, setting, hunting and trapping, trading/economy, towns, RPG elements, etc.

I have a hard time seeing anything "Western style" about that game.

I'm more thinking about how much damage the RPG label/genre has taken, if people now are indoctrinated into perceiving that as "Western". It's the injury of jrpg and action rpg yet again.

Awesome, loved her in White Collar and Agent Carter. :) About the genre of the game i would say Action-RPG. Problem is that genre's are not the same as before, games mix and match so many elements from eachother now that it is all a huge mess. RPG can mean so much more than before, same with a fps etc.

WRPG and JRPG continue to have one major big difference:

WRPG continue to explore more mature themes and subject matters, feature characters who are adults and older, more mature, and have settings that are darker, more mature.

JRPG continue to execute storytelling as if they are anime/manga or WB teen dramas.  Even when JRPG try to be "mature", the characters still have very childlike or adolescne appearances.

Another big, major differences: character and NPC interaction. In-depth dialogue trees and choices have become the staples of WRPG.  JRPG still barely touch the surface.

Nowadays JRPG has started to become more like WRPG, (given that WRPG have been thriving for over a decade while JRPG has been in a long slump like Japanese economy.)  Even so, they still have stark differences.  Just look at Dark Soul, (the "Great Hope" of JRPG afficianodos, which I thought was hugely overrated; or maybe it was just not my cup of tea given that I have never liked JRPG.)  Even as Dark Soul tried to be a "mature" game, it still had characters with very childlike facial features, (i.e., "anime" characters,) and barely any dialogues or NPC interaction.

I remember her as Kahlan from the cancelled TV show Legend of the Seeker.  I had only watched a few episodes of that crappy show, but she was hot in it.
