Well, that's kind of what happens when so many people gravitate here, like this Joni person did, who apparently comes from Delaware.
Why do New Yorkers think they're so special? I don't mean to pin point you, but people from New York are generally...ass holes. Just my experience. They think they're special and precious and the world revolves around them.
Well, perhaps not around them personally, but certainly around the city 
Anyway, in my experience, it's hard to judge what New Yorkers are really like from walking around the city, because all year long, it's swarming with tourists, especially around the trap-y areas around midtown. I work in the Empire State Building, and I'd bet that more than half the people walking on the street at any given time come from a few states away.
