You should totally remove the prestige points from Daily Challenges (leaving only chests) or limit them to one a day. The current system of handing out 10-15 pts a day for 10 mins worth of work cheapens the promotion/prestige system and ruins the long-term integrity of the Leaderboards. You should replace the intermediate rewards with gold or random items... like tacos. I like tacos.

Er, pretty sure this daily challenge thing is this week only?
Also, considering the infinite barrier/guard game I stumbled into yesterday, I imagine leaderboard integrity is already gone.

Yes, totally agree. I remember how in the 1st few weeks of damp it was so difficult to get prestige points or rather how hard you had to work for it.
1st weapons challenge, before everyone realized they had to keep 1 of each weapon. Spent the whole weekend grinding for gold on routine to get a mace, no mace. 1st chest I opened after the event - mace... grrrrr.... ![]()

totally disagree
1. the top leaderboard players will laugh if the casuals get 70 prestige points for free (only counting the weapon and faction challenges - Druffy & match points you actually had to work for)
2. and be reassured: the servers were bugged - so some of us finished the weapon challenges but it didn't register towards prestige
3. it was a one-time-special-event so who cares
so all is good and nothing needs to be changed imho

I think the Leadeboards can benefit from these prestige-points-give-away challenges considerably because it gets updated this way. One hundred is a very, very limited number. Inactive players who have no more business in this game shouldn't be there. I have a few friends who have entered the Top 100 or got closer to entering it because of these recent challenges, and I am glad for them.

The only thing that stinks are the active players who missed the challenges. I had a friend who was gone all of last week because of the 4th of July holiday. He was close to the leaderboards and is now 70 points behind.

I think that is the way it goes sometimes. I had to quick suicides runs to get mine done, been occupied all weekend. Sucks but I think as V3gan said it helps to clean up the leaderboardThe only thing that stinks are the active players who missed the challenges. It appears some of you are stuck on short-term pleasure aspect. I said "cheapens the promotion/prestige system and ruins the long-term integrity". I'll place emphasis is on the word LONG-TERM, if you must word parse, so you all understand my position.
1. Let's use a magical equation of 4hrs game = 1 pt prestige (average play for Threatening). 70 prestige pts= 280 game hrs (14 days @ 20hrs/wk). Unless you foolishly salvaged all your weapon types, each event only takes you a few minutes in a solo run. The exception to this would be like the Druffalo event which required you to play 15 or so games but only up to the point of killing Mr. Druffleupagus. That is still roughly 280 game hrs traded in for 3hrs or so from one week long event. That should thoroughly explain the 'cheapen' aspect.
2. This event and any future events like it (including weekend events) widens the gap between LB'ers and non-LB'ers. The faster I leap up (as a LB'er), the harder it will be for you (as a non-LBer) to catch me especially having missed the event(s). So no events like this actually DOESN'T benefit everyone.
3. Long-term ramification: After me and you have stopped playing and BW no longer supports the game, there will be newer players looking to make their way onto the LB only to be faced with the fact they will have put in several hundred hours alone just to compete with freebies you were given (accounting for #1 and #2). Those weekend event points add up over time (in hrs of normal gameplay). They also won't have the "benefit" of cheese AW and glitches, cheats and workarounds others used at the start of the MP.
4. Long-term ramification: Events like these make it too easy to knock off LB'ers who already put several hundred hrs into the game but may have missed the event, currently on hiatus, or retired. This is the inverse of #2. They are essentially leap-frogging players. BW hasn't said this will be the only time this type of event will occur, so they need to take this into account.
5. Not every person on the LB is cheater... except for PC maybe.
While one on hand I don't mind this event knocking off some known retired cheaters, this isn't a lesser of two evils scenario. You want to keep the playing field level for new guys and those working their way up earn their spot, not have it handed to them.

Yeah, a pug I know by pugging (but it seems has found a solid group now) that plays 24/7 finally left the lower 90s and is going up up. I'm happy for him.

I was personally laughing at the LONG-TERM whatever, because no one actually cares about those leaderboards. Well, there are a few people that obviously care including you but they are not even the 1%. They are like the 0.01%. As much as I love DAMP, its leaderboards are hardly the Starcraft ladder in terms of prestige. ![]()
Also I like what SpaceV3gan said how those games will be a boost to clean up the leaderboards from old players. In this aspect, those extra points are actually good. And it was a one time thing that was cool to do and we had fun with it. See, that's why we can't have nice things. Because BW will try to do something nice and then inevitably someone will complain about said nice things.
Plus, don't get me wrong, I actually do understand what you mean and where you're coming from. However... it's a minor complaint, about a vastly unimportant thing that serves as a dubious way for ego boost to a very limited amount of people and I just can't... bring myself to care.
