Hi I started a another thread just so that the hour I spent can be shared at the beginning of the thread. Keep in mind these are observations and not anything that is though through

1. General - seems you can start nightmare mode from create or quick join mode
2. General - Heartbreaker difficulty seem to be available once you do a run, wipe or not in the lobby

3. Specific test - Keep in mind this is with a level 18 Keeper with 110 Con
perilous - mooks doing average of 70 to 90 damage
nightmare - mooks doing 140 to 180 but doing critical on me to 290 300 range
heartbreaker - mooks have katari like charge and BUILD GUARD and hit for 400 range
brute have Avvar Firesmash like jump attack!

these are all I have tested, I am sure there are great testers that will get some great info but just to share with BSN know what I have found!

Edit to add:  thanks for noting you had to do a run on nightmare before seeing "heartbreaker" which they define as being only for the most masochistic players.  I launched it without hesitation.  Died before clearing the first area.  Observations at Level 17 keeper (stats 35/32/43) with fully evolved barrier (but no guardian spirit since I hadn't been needing it).  Red templars:  one arrow took my barrier to half, with the second eliminating it completely, third arrow took me from full health to dead.

I am not liking the sound of this, aka difficulty for the overpromoted which us "filthy casuals" will never be able to do properly.

Nightmare was viable and I'm only so-so as a player but there was one strong player on the team -- that's why we got to wave 3 at all.  I could see with a good team being able to clear it.   The other 2 players probably weren't even so-so.   I'm curious as to the gold amounts but our good player wanted to speed run it.  The others went to open a room --- probably curious as well -- I joined them.  We died fairly swiftly.  I think with a solid team, nightmare should be doable.  Heartbreaker, on the other hand . . .

The armor values for our character are higher. My top armored necro had 162 armor and a top tier armored duelist had 173 armor

The enemies are now level 20 and up

Yep, I was writing my post about Heartbreaker. :) Nightmare will certainly viable (my stats are roughly around yours) and I can play quite decently when I am not Leeroy Jenkinsing or being drunk.

Which difficulty?

 

I tried nightmare, got no gold at all from chests or pots. Enemies seem to be using their abilities more often.

What did you get from chests and pots? items inside? just didn't get anything because of bug, which would be very bad quality assurance...

Nope, didn't get anything from chests or pots. No items, no gold, nothing. It even showed "0g" at the end. On a positive note, stonefist detonations are fixed and now actually do damage.

I am going to hold out hope that maybe the modes aren't viable yet until tomorrow's DLC.

 

Otherwise, if it became truly available today and no gold is an enormous bug, eek...

Isn't there a Beta programm to eliminate most bugs? (real no ironic question, as i could not apply for Beta on console)

 

A no gold bug seems irritating then.

there was a beta program yes... and I guess the testers (me included) tried to find as many bugs as we could... if BW listened to our feedback on the other hand... we'll see

Also, I don't recall encountering the no loot bug, or even seeing it mentioned. Granted, I wasn't the most active of testers and was late to the party, but I think I'd have noticed that one.

I see it as more of long run investment. It will now probably be viable for few players only, but if the game stands long enough, there will be more and more.

What worries me bit is how much these two difficulties will dilute an already small pool of players while at the same time I think that nightmare/heartbreaker people will have hard time filling their lobbies.

Well, I had to use all my potions to survive calpernia on perilous as level 7 avvar and that would never happen on threatening so I don't know. Zones 1-4 felt a bit easier on threatening an perilous but I could be imagining things. Let's wait for some dev comments on this.

I have to do more testing but it would seem that nightmare mode is more of what was expected with some welcomed creativity

1. Enemies have much more HP
2. Enemies hit harder
3. Creativity one - Enemies also have increased critical I saw streaks of this so can't tell the pattern but they can go for 4 or 5 hits on critical damage to player
4. Enemies utilize more of their abilities as per Nibyl

The Heartbreaker mode is much more interesting in terms of gameplay. Enemies have been given specific abilities that are typically utilized as the first move.
1. Venatori foot soldier charges and develops guard, I saw pretty close to full guard and they repeated this move every time they saw me.
2. The Venatori Brute immediately did a jump smash reminiscent of Avvar Fire Smash.

these are interesting moves, I did not face the Red Templars. However it would seem that evasion, positioning and agro management will be much more crucial...

so evade/combat roll/fade cloak/fade step may all come back in fashion once again

Edit - the old methodology standing in place auto-attacking or defending is definitely a tough proposition, virtuoso will also need to have support because one charge or smash he will be down and can be finished quickly. Time for the bright guys to come up with new tactics!

Well I wanted to test this nightmare difficulty out with a level 14 AW solo and made it almost to wave 5 but took so long I got sloppy near end of 4 and died to 2 pride demons doing the Sat Night Live "Baby don't hurt me" dance club routine. lol (Was using Dragon staff, CL ring, HOK ring, 15% cooldown ammy) (Skills: SF, CL, FS, FC all upgraded)

 

No gold or items either on the Xbox One, but got 26k exp on Chateau. Still took way too long as a solo, and each of my stats are in 70's. Think will be ok with team play but will see more of the OP classes to start or for under-promoted players until people get used to better combo-ing and team play, etc. Oh and yes I unlocked Heartbreaker difficulty too, but have not tried it yet.
