They have their flaws, but I enjoyed every DLC and I think they're worth the money. Overlord, LotSB and Arrival are must-buys for ME2, in my opinion.

Arrival bridges ME2 and ME3, and builds up suspense to the Reapers arrival. Without this DLC, there is no buildup. The Reapers just arrive at the start of ME3, and thus, the experience feels lesser for it. That's at least how I felt. Note that Arrival is a solo-experience though, so Shepard is going in alone. You can't take your squadmates with you.

How does Arrival give you build up for the Reapers arriving? They arrive just the same in ME3 and they Alliance did nothing with the delay. Not only that, but the results of the mission still happen if you don't play it. It's just that an alliance team did it. Shepard faces no consequences for the events here. The only thing it does is give a slightly better context for why Shepard is grounded at the start. They do nothing with the "destroyed relay = supernova" idea. In fact, they forgot about it when they made the ending to ME3.

All the DLCs are more than worth it. Enough said! And the one I enjoyed the most- Lair of the Shadow Broker1

If it's any consolation, Hackett doesn't face any consequences either, despite being involved, but then, it's Hackett and Anderson's involvement that keeps Shepard from facing anything more than just some detention.

That's a good point. When Hackett tells Shepard at the end of Arrival that he'll have to "take the hit", Shepard could have complained about being thrown under the bus. "Hey, this was your personal mission, Admiral."

I specifically did not play Arrival because of the consequences Shepard faces at the end. I prefer the idea of Shep being much too busy to work directly for the Alliance and so the Alliance team does the dirty work instead. I had actually purchased the DLC and then found out about the ending afterwards, but decided to uninstall it. It's a shame, too, because Arrival did look pretty cool, and I loved the soundtrack, but neither is worth railroading my character into what was a monstrous decision.

The decision isn't a problem for me. It's the lack of consequences. If you don't play Arrival, Shepardis in the exact same place at the beginning of ME3 and the system is still destroyed. Arrival was pretty great, other than Shepard not seeing the trap coming, and ultimately didn't matter. This is the same problem with Lair of the Shadow Broker. It's great on it's own, but has no impact. Not only does Liara still become the Shadow Broker, but she really does nothing with that.

Most importantly a few of them are necessary for the mods to work properly. Citadel allows for a different ending, and...umm, one or two of the others is needed as well. Head to the Nexus and look at some of the mods if you need help making a decision on ME3 dlc.

The Hammerhead is not that enjoyable to be honest. It is overly sensitive I find, and is basically useless in a fight, which usually revolves around hiding behind a rock, popping out firing a few shots then waiting for the shields to reload again, it would actually be easier not to use the thing. Luckily it isn't used extensively.

Do not download Arrival until you have finished the game because it forces a cutscene to start that breaks the immersion as it is best completed after the main story and other dlc. Or use the delayed Arrival activation mod. Enjoy.

yeah I agree I think one of the biggest drawbacks is it can't take a great deal of punishment either. I'm not a big fan of either vehicle in terms of controls really but at least in terms of the Mako it could take a few hits thanks to it's shields. Makes me kind of glad that in ME3 we don't have to use any vehicles at all tbh.

My opinion on the story DLCs is that they're all worth it.

BTDS makes ME1 feel complete by having the Batarians make their first appearance. If you felt it a bit annoying that they got an codex entry, but didn't get any appearance in the standard game, then download this DLC.

I have never played Pinnacle Station. It's regarded by most as the worst DLC for the ME trilogy. It's very combat-focused, and takes place on Pinnacle Station, an arena-sort of place. Since I often enjoy things most others don't, I might have liked this DLC, but i'm not sure. Shepard also gets his/her own apartment in this DLC.

Stolen Thief and Price of Revenge adds new squadmates. Thief adds Kasumi, a master thief. Revenge adds Zaeed, an elite mercenary. Zaeed is free, so you might as well download that. Both squadmates come with their own loyalty missions, so you get some new locations too!

Normandy Crash Site is a free DLC that let's you explore the burial ground of the original Normandy. It's a short DLC, and the mission itself is just a "collection mission", but if you want a little ME1 nostalgia, you should try.

Firewalker adds a new vehicle to replace the Mako. People are pretty divided on this, but it won't cost you anything.

Overlord adds a nice little story, and is a MUST if you love exploration, like me.

LOTSB is highly praised by most, and lets you have Liara as a temporary squadmate. You also finally find out who or what the Shadow Broker is.

From Ashes adds Javik, an actual living Prothean. The mission itself isn't great, if you ask me, but the permanent squadmate it provides is interesting, and has a lot to say if you bring him to the Thessia-mission.

Leviathan goes in-depth to explain the reapers origins. It is a very lore-focused DLC, and it attempts to foreshadow the ending, so it doesn't come so out of the blue.

The atmosphere of the DLC is very mysterious and creepy. If you felt that ME3 lacked that mysterious atmosphere from the previous installments, especially ME1, then you should probably try this DLC.

Omega is an action-oriented DLC, which you may or may not like. Personally, I loved it, but I like Aria and Omega, so i'm biased. Note that you can't take your squadmates with you on this mission. Instead you get two temporary squadmates: Aria and a female Turian. If you have ever wondered how a female Turian looks like, then you might like this DLC, just for that.

Citadel is, in my not so humble opinion, the best DLC for the ME trilogy. In this DLC, you say a final-goodbye to your crew from all three games (Aside from Legion, Mordin and Morinth, who does not show up in the DLC - Mordin still has some content though).

This DLC adds a new hub-area, lets you have Wrex as a temporary squadmate through the DLC (Seriously, the DLC is worth it just for that!), and gives you the opportunity to throw a party with your friends from across the three games!

In the Armax Arena, you can join up with some of the ME2 squadmates to combat other enemy factions (including the Collectors from ME2!).

This is the ME trilogy's final DLC, and it is a pure "have-fun" DLC, with a lighthearted tone, and your squadmates as the focus. It really adds so much to the ME3 experience.

That's my opinion on the trilogy DLC.

Pretty much sums it up for me as well except I have played Pinnacle station. It's basically a training ground for you and your squadmates to practice in. I've beaten some of the missions but not all of them as some can be hard to do.Basically it's not necessary to do it as it doesn't add to the story really al it does is give you a few extra weapons to play with if you get through all of them successfully and as you mentioned an apartment. You only get the apartment however if you beat all the missions though. Basically I just use it for practice and just do the odd mission in it as in terms of the extra weapons and stuff you can get anyway in the main game if you do enough looting and snooping around. The only thing that's different for me is the fact my favourite DLC is ME2's Shadowbroker mission but as most if not all are saying all the DLC adds something to the whole package in one way or another.

All DLCs are worth to buy but not for the current cost as they're more epensive than the game itself. I just hope Origin points you get for completing achievements in games like ME3 or Battlefield3 can be used to buy ME DLCs. Also would be great to have BP on sale.

It would be nice to for the DLC to be lowered in price, or at least put on sale at the same time Xbox/PS have their sales...but EA/Bioware have repeatedly stated they have no intention of phasing out BPs for pre-DA:I titles.

It'll be interesting to see what prices are will be down the road over the next few years for these newer games, as EA/Bioware have already made some of the DLC available for DA:I at a discount for (gasp...) PC owners.  Given EA/Bioware's propensity for ridiculousness, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Andromeda or Inquisition being cheaper than ME2/3/DA2 DLC as time goes by, which would be damn pathetic...

As for Origin points, they're just another lame-ass achievement score system for (IMO) empty bragging rights; it can't be used as or for buying equally lame-ass virtual currency.

Yup. I got all DLC on my 360, and now they are the main reason for me to keep that console. I got the 3 mass effects on origin for next to nothing on a sale, and only after that I found that not only I can't use the 360 controler, the price of the DLC would offset any gain had on the sale.

I was really hoping that they would release a enhanced version with all content for the ps4, as buying that would be cheaper than getting all PC DLC, but apparently even that is off the table as well. I came to look if n7 day would bring up some discounts, but no luck.

Guess I'll stick with the 360 for a while yet...
