Interesting. I wonder what this means content wise for the future dlc.

Me too. I wonder if they finally hit the older-console limit as to how much stuff you can keep adding to the game...

Kinda too bad for the XBox 360 and PS3 folks, but they were going to get left behind at some point. I expected it to happen with DA4.

This is what I suspected.  The game is already rough for the last-gen to run as it is.  If future DLC is going to be even bigger, it was probably no way to keep it stable.

No, this will transfer your actual saves, the Keep just records your decisions.

Have to admit, that is not cool on Bioware's part.

At least wait until the next game before being PS4/XB1/PC only, rather than dropping PS3/360 players mid DLC cycle.

Perhaps new features in DLC are beyond the hardware of older generation consoles? Or maybe save/game files would just get too big for the memory in them?

Just guesses, but to your question, the Keep was intended for that purpose, but also for people that wanted to customise their world state without having to sink a minimum of 60 hours in two games.

I'm wondering at the timing of the patch and this announcement. Does this mean that the next dlc is ready to launch.

I'm calling tomorrow as dlc is normally out on a Tuesday.

You have to feel for the last gen brigade who have been waiting patiently with the rest of us for the story dlc. Personally I can understand that that having to make each new dlc last gen compatible is resource intensive and probably hold back possible content but then I'm not on a last gen console.

This is a disappointing goddamn tragedy. Last gen players literally being left in the dust because of EA.

The Keep was for recording decisions in prior games to import a world state into the start of your DAI game.

This is for someone who, say, is mid-game on their PS3 playthrough and decides to upgrade to a PS4. They can now take that save they have lingering, for example, before "Here Lies the Abyss" on PS3 and transfer that Inquisitor and imported world state to their PS4 version of the game and pick up right where they left off. As opposed to buying a new system and version of the game for that system and having to restart their Inquisitor entirely from scratch.

Keep is about keeping your cannon between games this will load a DA:I playthrough from last gen to current gen. This loads the whole game save.

As someone who plays on last gen, yeah, this sucks. Not the end of the world, but an announcement a long time ago, instead of right before the next DLC drops (I'm assuming tomorrow or next week), would have been nice. It definitely would have altered my choice to buy Jaws, for example, and I could have saved that $15 U.S. for when I upgrade. Especially considering I highly doubt they're cutting anyone who already bought Jaws on last gen consoles any slack.

When I bought Jaws for my PS4, it came automatically with a copy for PS3. Not really sure why one would downgrade, but that makes me wonder if, perhaps, when you upgrade to PS4, since you bought Jaws for PS3, maybe there will be a free upgrade to the PS4 version of the DLC for you?

That's probably why they didn't announce it until now. They squeezed as much money as they could out of old console users, then dropped them. *not bitter*

My friend isn't going to like this. I feel that 360/ps3 won't be able to finish their inquisitor's story, especially people who romanced Solas. I knew that Dragon Age 4 would be new gen, but not future DLCs.

The only good thing about this is that they won't have to hold back on stuff.

Assuming this is the case, then I can live with the move even more. Still sucks, but certainly better than many would have done.

If you bought it for PS3, you also have a copy for PS4; it's a "crossbuy", I believe is the term.

I'm allowed a little hyperbole, sorry if I gave you the wrong idea.

It's not surprising, just disappointing.

For the next game this was expected but mid DLC cycle it's pure BS.

Then I'm quite happy. New copies of DAI are like $30 U.S. at the moment, all in all I can live with rebuying the game, especially at that price, seeing as it's 1/13 of what the actual system is going to cost.

Still sucks overall, but again, not the end of the world.

They announced a cross-buy program a while back. You get Jaws free on PS4 and XBox One if you bought it on the older generations. This only applies to the DLC, though.
