Forced to choose between spending on a new console or missing out on some irrelevant Disc-Locked Contents (DLC)? Easy.

I am guessing sales on last-gen consoles werent that good. Or maybe because few play the multiplayer on last-gen consoles; this means no micro-transaction and this is a crime to warrant cutting off the last-gen consoles for a publisher that insists that multiplayer is a requirement in all their games regardless of relevance.

Seriously Bioware should not have release this game for last-gen to begin with; at least I believe that will solve the plastic hair issue. However cutting support on last-gen midway is simply.... evil.

This is totally unfair, players that still own last gen consoles paid the same amount of money when buying the game than next gen console owners, some even a little more (I pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition), when they announced the game would be released for last gen consoles as well they never said we would be neglected like this. We paid like everyone else to be left with an incomplete game. I’m pretty sure every gamer wants a last gen console, but Guess what? Not everyone can afford it, and we shouldn’t be punished for that. I am a big fan of the Mass Effect trilogy as well as all the Dragon Age games, as a loyal Bioware costumer I feel cheated. If they released the game for last gen consoles it’s their responsibility to provide the same service to all their customers.  If they were going to do this they never should’ve released the games on PS3/Xbox360 in the first place, now to play the DLCs we have to wait till we can afford a new console and we have to buy the game again! It’s a complete rip-off. Bioware should take this matter very seriously and look for solutions instead of just notifying with a just “deal with it” attitude.

Shitty move Bioware. But I'm not surprised considering the huge amount of anti-consumer actions with this game. I'm saying this as a pc player.

Eesh.  I'm playing on an XB1 so I'm unaffected, but this is really disheartening to hear for any X360 or PS3 fans.  Very bizarre to do this for an already released game versus waiting until DA4.  I'm not saying anything new here that others haven't previously said but....eesh.

I just finished importing my first Inquisitor to PS4, and she transferred so beautifully, I ended up not altering her with the Mirror at all.  And everything is accounted for, all items and whatnot.  MP migration also worked like a charm.

It feels like a new game. *_*

Update...all companions and their equip also seem perfectly fine after transfer...

One, admittedly teeny tiny bug carried over, but I'll mention it any way for completionist sake...the mosaic on the first floor, left-hand side upon entering the throne room that showed 11/12 even if you had 12/12 and was fixed by a subsequent patch, I believe, unfortunately shows 11/12.

I'm not sure if that was fixed retroactively, because I had a save with that bug over on PS3, and even after the patch, it still didn't show all my collected mosaic pieces.  So yeah, it's still the same transferred onto PS4.  *ignoring missing pieces, sobbeth*

The fix wasn't retroactive.

If you had already collected the bugged piece before the patch, the mosaic will remain visually incomplete.

Heard about this via Tumblr. Thought someone was just screwing around until I went to the official blog. I cannot properly articulate my anger so I won't try. Everyone has said what I probably wanted to anyway.

one thing I'd like to say, and then I will say no more on the matter...if we are angry...we have a right to be. I don't like when anyone tries to tell someone how they should feel. And there's no legitimacy behind someone who is unaffected by this in a negative way telling me I shouldn't feel how I feel...cause truthfully, I feel like flipping a table(with paper napkins and cups, mind you...I can't even get a PS4 right now). I do not like to feel played. You did that, Bioware. Never again.

I am on the side of EA/BioWare here. The old gen console users are done. It had to happen at some point. Not my problem.

Well, I'm so glad you're here with us, sharing your profound statements.

tIvxtdH.png

...Anyway:

Of course we know why. There's been 16 pages here, and multiple threads elsewhere. The point is, I'd like to hear from them on the topic. I'm disappointed by the move, not shocked, not mad (though I am happy others are mad), just disappointed. I can't speak for anyone else, but I don't care about trading up copies, or anything else, I'd just like to hear from them the reason. I just want to know whether I'm being lied to or not, or just slightly BSd.

Me too. For most of the problems I've had with Bioware in the past, their lack of communication on those problems bugged me just as much - usually more - than the problems themselves! Their PR is bad, but their communication skills are worse, and that makes me a very sad Banshee. I've already said that I am flabbergasted at their announcement's positive tone. I ask this:

How hard would it have been to write a simple apology, and if not an apology, an explanation (or both)? Look, this is PR we're talking about. An apology is just words most of the time, and costs Bioware nothing. So why not? And an explanation would definitely have been good in their announcement. Here, let me try:

"All future Dragon Age: Inquisition DLC will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One only, so we designed our Save Importer feature to help make the transition to a new console as easy as possible. We realize that this will be disheartening to a number of players, and we sincerely (see, it's just a word) apologize for any inconvenience this causes them. At Bioware, we strive to make the best content possible, and unfortunately, we had to move past the limitations of the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 hardware so that we could realize our visions for the future of Dragon Age. We look forward to sharing that journey with you when the time comes."

...or something like that. I just made an apology to oldgen players, and spun it into paving the way to better content for all! Look how cunningly devious I am! :P So I ask again: How hard would that have been?

Has anyone tried messaging Bioware directly?

Not that I'm aware of. I've considered trying myself, but I'm honestly not sure what to say. Ideas?

You could ask them if they'll further elaborate on why it came to this decision on BSN or on a blog post

Well it's even worse when some players here try to claim that it's your own fault or that you are less worthy of DLC's than them cause they just bought 900 dollars GPU or sth else

Really haven't really been happy with some users here, but the same elitism has been here since release so nth will change it I guess.

That is not elitism, it is stupidity in the purest form. The same form of stupidity can be seen in some console owners when they cheer that Arkham Knight does not run well on PC.

I game on PC and truth be told, building a PC is as much fun as playing a game on it. However, we are all gamers. I am not telling console owners and PC owners to stop fighting - I find it amusing reading such post and I enjoy reading these arguments as much as playing games and building PC :P

Now while console owners and PC owners can fight amongst ourselves, fact is we have a common enemy which are shady publishers and developers. We should always unite against them and if they wrong any of us, we should stop fighting ourselves for a moment and give them hell together.

I game on PC, I blame the bad hair on last-gen consoles. However, I cannot condone publishers/developers releasing a game on last-gen and then cut them off midway thus I must support the last-gen owners in this case. If they can do it to one of us and get away with it, they will surly do it to all of us.

It was a burden to begin with. They should have not dealt with it to begin with.

It was a burden to begin with. They should have not dealt with it to begin with.

Which may be true.  Perhaps they shouldn't have dealt with it at all.

But that does not change the fact that they did in fact take up that burden.  They made a commitment.  And thus they are responsible for dealing with all the now quite justifiably upset customers whom they have just sucker-punched without explanation or apology.

Just saying "Screw it, this is too hard/expensive/bothersome" and casting it aside is not a responsible act.

In theory this is great for PC & next-geners, but call me skeptical I don't see this as having a major impact in improved performance and visual quality. Maybe they'll surprise with a major expansion.

If Bioware make a version of dlc for players on PS3 / X360 only with the last mission? After the end of the main game, a mission to complete the game would appear on the war table. The game would show an animation to explain and players would face the last enemy. New items and abilities of the original dlc would be available before the fight.
It is an option for at least the players have a conclusion of the story in their current console. This dlc version won't have the same value of PS4/XONE/PC version, it will be a reduced price.
It's better have this than nothing at all.

Why is everyone assuming they had to do this because the old gen couldn't handle the new dlc?  I doubt their next dlc is going to be radically different or more complex than any of the previous content we've seen.  Most likely this was done because of weak sales.  I mean jaws of hakkon wasn't that great and offered nothing new in terms of gameplay and anyone thinking this means that the next dlc is going to be radically better than previous content has lost their damn mind.

So... what about us who had a ps3 and went to xbox one or had a xbox 360 and went to ps4.... Were screwed pretty much just because we are not loyal to one console or company and switched it up.
