Pretty much this Xbox one is losing right now they are trying to offer things to get you to buy free games, cheaper console etc...

Xbox one is actually 100$ cheaper right now in Canada at least so if you dont own a next gen console i suggest xbox one here you wont miss the 1080p on ps4 and xbox one will still look amazing. I have compared some games side by side no big differences unless your looking its nothing like owning a ps3 was with alot of games being broken.

Well, one of the problems here is that if an oldgen Inquisition player is looking to upgrade, they need to buy a console from the same company (not even a PC) if they want to keep their DLC and save files :(

Not that it's good, but at least if you're upgrading and haven't bought the DLCs or the deluxe edition, and don't need your saves transferred, you can buy any platform you want, because either way, you have to buy your game again

Hahaha "good news"?! "Good news"! Oh, I get it now.

Good news, everyone! biower just broke every vertebra in their spinal column twisting this announcement into something positive.

I cannot grasp the true form of this stupid, it is so mind-numbingly so.

And then people wonder why games are pirated. Who in their right minds would support developers and publishers such as this. I game on PC so I'm not affected but all the same its really sickening.

Yeah the shock wore off now. I get it. Still... it's pretty funny. I can't believe they thought this was a good idea.

Hello everyone. Last night I tweeted Mike Laidlaw asking about this issue, and he said... he isn't allowed to comment. What? WHAT?!

Are you serious? I know I probably shouldn't post when I'm still this angry, but what the hell? This is completely disrespectful to oldgen fans, to not even apologize at all, and apparently not be able to tell you why you're not getting any more content!

"You're not getting any more content, we're not sorry, and we won't tell you why. But... save importer!"

But the worst part might be the implications of him not being allowed to talk about it. Surely, if it was because of hardware limitations, they would be able and want to tell us, to pitch better content! This is very depressing indeed, because it hints that it wasn't about limitations, but rather finances. That is something that he wouldn't be allowed to discuss.

So basically I'm angry, depressed, and pessimistic now.

Spoiler

A great combination.

You know, they probably can't talk about it because they can't talk about the DLC either.

I doubt it. They wouldn't need to tell us anything at all about the DLC specifically, only "It can't run on oldgen." If that under their NDAs counts as something they're not allowed say, well... I'd be surprised they can say it won't be available on oldgen. It's revealing about as much info: None.

Edit: Either way, it's no excuse for no apology.

Edit: Either way, it's no excuse for no apology.

While this is likely provides little to no comfort, there is the chance that if they have been told to stay quiet about the whole ordeal then that silence may have included apologies as well as providing explanations.

The consequences for breaking silence by providing either can be potentially severe so if this is the case then it is understandable why they may stick to it even if it is frustrating to both them and their consumers.

While I doubt an explanation or an apology would do much good,  I can certainly understand wanting one or both. My sympathies to whoever is stuck having to deal with this be they employee or consumer. It sucks.

Ten bucks says EA is behind the decision. BioWare can't comment because the reason is simply "EA says so."

I suppose they may have been told not to apologize, but I don't see why, and I don't think that's in any way good. They may very well have been told "Just spin it in a positive tone with the save importer for damage control", but it's clear almost everyone saw through that. So, I guess if that's the case, they have bad PR. Which is no surprise, we already knew that.

I honestly agree that an apology isn't going to fix anything. I guess I'm pushing for one so hard just because I feel it should have been a given from the start, and not wanting to give one even now just seems to show an utter disregard and disrespect for not only oldgen players, but all fans, I think.

Bioware can't discuss the reasons for not releasing future DLC on old platforms? Can you explain why you can't explain? NDA?

Mark Darrah @BioMarkDarrah

we need to do things that simply were not possible on older hardware (creature density being the #1 thing)

I doubt it will make anyone feel better, bu it seems to me that the financial reason is probably only a contributing factor to the decisions.

They want to do things oldgen can't support, oldgen being a minority of the playerbase (And thus posing less of a financial loss v. development costs for the consoles) just allows themselves to make the decision with minimal risk.

Even with this, people are still going to be mad. But at least they shared the number one problem with cutting off the old gens.

*Cough* User has a name *cough* :P Anyway, I'm surprised he said so considering Mike Laidlaw didn't want to say anything. Glad he did though.

It actually does make me feel a very little bit better. I'm still angry at this whole thing, but I'd rather they didn't make the decision for financial reasons at least.

I'm still perplexed at why they didn't say this in the blog post. Remember my apology post, where I wrote that they could have painted the whole thing in a more positive tone by using spin to highlight the "great new content" they'll make? I don't understand why they didn't say this to begin with, as it seems to be exciting people.

Edit: About the last sentence. My email basket is lighting up with people retweeting and favouriting his post.

I think Darrah is higher on the ladder than Laidlaw is.  A lot of people pester the creative team for info when they don't have the legal authority to say anything.

Kinda sounds that way to me...  Would fit with the theories some had about the larger scale battles from pre-production potentially making a come-back.

I guess so. He's the executive producer for Dragon Age, and Mike is the creative director.

Yes, but that was only the number one reason he stated. He probably means being able to have lots of stuff happen at once in general, but having a lot of creatures (meaning animals, people, etc.) at once seems to hint at a very large battle at least.
