Morals are shaped by society, and thus, are subjective.  That's the issue with morals; different societies have different morals.  Anyway, as I said, you should try seeing it from BW's side.

That's assuming I know you.  I don't, so I have no idea what your life experiences have been.  Plus, the way you were talking about 'being fair to everyone' implied (at least to me) that you didn't know that.

And I wasn't trying to be condescending.  Sorry if that's how you interpreted my post.

I know they are subjective. I meant for me it was the morally right thing to do. I see and understand Bioware's side, I just utterly disagree with it.

Apology accepted, and I'm sorry I got angry.

This certainly sucks. Sorry to the last gen players who won't be playing future content :( .

I wonder if the choice was partly based on the numbers for Jaws of Hakkon. If relatively few people bought it on PS3 and XBox compared to current gen and PC, I can see why they might decide to cut their losses rather than leaving all the stuff that won't run on those consoles out of future DLC.

Bioware really messed this up. It's on them; not last-gen (like me) or new-gen players.

Suggesting that new-gen lose DLC support, too, is really wrong. Talk about petty. That helps no one.

A kick in the teeth for 7th gen owners I suppose but I for one is glad to hear this news.

Is it really? was (post launch) support of 6th generation games any better two years into the 7th generation?

I look forward to seeing what Bioware can do now that the shackles are off.

You wont really see that until at least the next game.

Disagreeing with their decision is fine.  Saying that it is disgusting simply because you disagree with it...... not so much.

It's not simply because I disagree with it that I find the decision disgusting.

the people who payed good money for new systems or good gaming PCs saw content cut so you could still play the game on your 360/PS3.

Don't be ridiculous. 'People who had  payed good money for good gaming PCs' had much superior visuals along with their 60++ FPS(possibly including cut-scenes), and their 'medium' settings are comparable with the 'next-gen' consoles.

They've just screwed their past-gen players. It's like demanding to buy a new GF960 and extra 2GBs of RAM in order to complete the game one already owns. Someone has a strange idea of 'cross-gen' game, really. MS and Sony must be happy, though. I'm sure they are.

As i recall it, no. The Xbox and Gamecube became obsolete within the year. The PS2 was supported for much longer, though after a year it was mostly fifa, singstar and more casual games being released on the platform. For instance, Oblivion, which was released 1 year into the 360's life cycle never found it's way to last gen systems like the PS2 and Xbox.

I find the decision logical. A business is going to try to make profit. I'm kinda partial to last gen sales not being high enough to warrant further last gen sales. They probably drew a financial loss and they decided to cut their losses.

Because it is unfair to last-gen players?  Honestly, if I was you, I'd try to avoid attempting to stand up for last-gen players since a lot of them might not even mind the support drop for one reason or another, making the gesture kind of.... pointless, really.

Anyway, BW's already made their decision, and there's really nothing we can do to change it.  Might as well grin and bear it.

Content, not numbers. You could probably run Doom 2 on 8K display with bambillion fps, but it would be Doom 2 with the same mechanics and level design.

I play on a pretty high end PC so this doesn't affect me but yeah, it's a pretty radical decision. And kind of unheard of in the industry as far as I'm aware.

But it also raises my hopes for this last story DLCs, now I'm hoping for more interactive and crowded content (battles and real urban areas), so they better deliver.

Mass Effect 3 WiiU did not receive some late DLCs, while more recent Forza Horizon 2 on 360 did not receive any DLCs at all.

Was only one DLC confirmed? could be two?
Either way, as long as Isabela is included, it should be fine.

Ok thanks. So this did happen before on other console platforms and with other publishers.

I'm assuming we'll have a Deep Roads DLC and a Qunari one which was hinted in the leaked survey. But that's just an assumption.

If we see Captain Isabela getting involved with Qunari again that could be funny but I don't expect it :P

Mass Effect 3 for Wii U   should have at least got Citadel since that was a great send off for the original trilogy.

This move I ca understand if last gen consoles were holding back the potential of upcoming DLC.  Though I would have then said to drop Last Gen all together and focus on PC and current Gen.

Also note:  A lot of games on Wii U from third parties have not received all or any of the DLC as the publisher decided they couldn't make enough money from it.

I get why people are upset, and yes it sucks that you won't get more content unless you upgrade, but I don't really see this as a bad thing.

If anything this just cuts out a portion of their customers, so I have to assume that they're doing it because the content they're making is simply too much for last gen to handle. So losing last gen means better content for everyone else.

I guess they made environments that just wont run on the older gen and decided to drop the support instead of dropping the dlc.

It could be this, and they're concerned that DLCs would come off as low quality on last-gen consoles, it could be that figures showed that last gen players didn't take to the DLCs, it could be purely business minded to save time/money. I do have a current gen console so I'm not going to pretend to know how others might feel, but in my opinion some semblance of an explanation to accompany the announcement would have gone a long way. The decision has of course been made but a little more than 'it's happened, here's an importer' would have been good.

Since this is the situation now I do hope the DLC is atleast very high quality otherwise they've potentially isolated and angered fans for nothing.

Also did thread about this, but more on last gen folks viewpoint.

Seriously does Bioware expect me to buy their game twice so that I can buy DLC's for their game?

What is most repulsive about this is the tone in which the news was given to fans. "Oh we have good news, you can now transfer your saves if you re-buy our game on a 400 dollars machine you may not have. What a great opportunity !"

Damn...if at least they had softened the bullet with a bit of honesty stating simply that they wanted to make the best content possible and had to drop the last gen consoles, and severely apologising, it wouldn't be this bad (though it would remain quite slimy from Bioware/EA).

This is a bit harsh, but who is more likely to have extra cash lying around for an $20-$30 DLC? People who can't afford or are not willing to dive into next-gen or not?

I think we all agree that for many reasons this game should never have been released on old Gen, but it seems like this decision basically came down to "do we keep releasing content or not"... and they went with continuing support. "Fair" ain't got nothing to do with it...

This is a disappointing goddamn tragedy. Last gen players literally being left in the dust because of EA.

I understand your frustration but you can't expect devs to keep making games/DLC that will play on last gen consoles. At some point it doesn't make economic sense to do that. At least this isn't Wing Commander from the 80's/90's where you literally had to buy a new computer every time the next installment of the game came out. I'll never forgive Chris Roberts for that and he's doing it again with Star Citizen where it will only be available for PC's. He is kind of an arrogant SOB IMO.

I think Bioware are doing what they can, what is in their power to do, short of pulling the plug on dlc altogether or lowering its quality for last gen. Cross-buy on dlc and save transfers, basically. Free full games for all last gen customers is probably beyond their remit, and more something that would be in the hands of Sony/Microsoft, or possibly higher-up in EA.

Of cource, but to do so to cross-gen game in terms of high-content DLC's feels like slap in the cheek. I don't expect them to do ME:A nor it's DLC's for last gen, but to drop support middle of game release? That's dick move, especially when they are delivering the news in manner that seems like they are congratulating themselves after job well done.
