Happened in a Threatening lobby for me. I'm guessing more than a few people were experiencing the same, but were too busy taking advantage to comment.
I mean it's literally saving time and maximizing efficiency, so who could blame them. Wonder what the official word on this is.
Edit: Just to clarify what we were seeing. Any gold source would tick twice, exp seemed to be tripled, all kills were doubled (so killstreaks of 30 in every zone for most party members were possible even on vanilla maps). A group of level 1s in threatening would be level 15 after one clear. 20 with one perilous clear immediately afterward.
Should have taken the day off tomorrow...

I've done 12 matches now, all like more like triple XP and averaging 2.4k gold a run.
Two matches topromotion.

I had a couple of games on perilous late last night before bed. I didn't really notice the extra gobs of cash or exp but I did notice that both games seemed much easier than previously. As in we had only medium level groups and yet we still won. Perilous seemed to be what Threat used to be and I had a threat game earlier and it seemed not far from easy mode.

Damn! And I thought I was getting so much better. Even clutched a wave 4 on perilous this morning. Well, somebody's got some 'splainin' to do.

You can thank the new armour ratings for that... Along with any new crazy heal on kill weaps you might have gotten.

This sounds about right. I know threatening isn't much to most of the players here, but enemies were hitting my level 1 AW for 1 hp a shot to the front. Pretty substantial difference from the day before.
It's like Brave said, feels a lot more like routine with everyone being far less squishy.

No new heal on kill weapons. I was using the legionnaire however. Even my damage seemed a bit better.

Seriously, The Game is running the best it has so far IMo. I haven't even tried nightmare mode.
About the bug I think it might have been tied to those fixes they were trying to push re: gold drop bugs in the higher difficulties. It's probably been fixed, still trying to see if I can recreate, if it works, I will not be posting it here

I had it happen when the group I was with changed difficulty levels. But it was with the same group, no one and done.
