I dont know about u guys but i playalot of rpgs and the old mass effect system was more in depth than before. IDK this new one is just... bland. I'd rather have a million different guns and ammo types and armors, then have one gun, one armor and just upgrade those for the entire game. I like the armor custamization, but I miss adding diferent things to each indavidual gun. Thi is prob just me though!Image IPB

Well, when you think of it, it's not really a million different guns as you said. It's about the same 3-4 models for each weapon type (mabye 2 for each) with upgraded and different stats on some, whilst some remain EXACTLY the same.

I am a looter and hoarder by definition and I don't really miss the inventory one bit. I hated having to break down those stupid weapons because of limitations in the inventory.

i didnt like the omnigel thing either but what i am trying to say is this. In ME1 you could go buy a gun at the store, it looked cooler then the one u had before which was satisfying, it also was better than the one u had before! IN ME2 im a level 12 and i only have 2 assult riffles, its driving me crazy!

Haven't got the game yet but this pretty much sums up my opinion and situation. In DAO I tend to find my inventory getting really bogged down, same in ME1 so am glad they ditched the inventory

I do miss being able to outfit my squad members. I don't miss spending 15 minutes gelling 150 bits of pointless loot after I've maxed my cash. I'll take the hit on the former if it means not having to deal with the latter.

I can't find any upgrades so I have to use the same gun again and again. Then run out of ammo and use a less favorite gun again and again. 'tis a shame I can't get new weapons or armor anywere it takes some of the variety which we all crave.

I don't miss the old system at all.

And it is bloody exciting when you find the next SMG damage schematics, and that means you now have other SMG research unlocked. The research system ends up replacing much of the item system, in my opinion. Except you get to control when and what you research.

I too miss the old inventory system.

I have played the game for hours. And I still have not figure out where everything has gone to. I don't even know how to equip my squad members. In ME 1, if I don't pay attention to my squad's gears, I am a dead meat. In ME 2, gosh .. where is everything?!

Anyone else having issues with upgrades, maybe I don't quite understand it yet but I have got the resources but cannot purchase the upgrade, is it that you cannot research 2 things at the same time? The game dosn't explain it that well....anyway.

No. Of all the big changes since ME1, the removal of the old inventory system is the one I'm most unambiguously happy about. In my opinion, the old system was both annoying in its specific implementation and kind of silly in the general concept.

Annoying because I had to sort through a flood of redundant and/or useless items. Silly because... why exactly is Shepard running around, carrying an enormous bag of guns to sell in the market? (S)he's a spec ops soldier, not some post-apocalytic scavenger or medieval treasure hunter, where such behaviour might make sense.

Good riddance.

Wanting more variety in weapons I can get behind, but gathering them on the battlefield? No thanks.

I don't miss the old inventory system. It took too long to sell everything and play the omni-gel minigame. As for your issue Chocolatyshatnr, it may be you haven't met some other requirements for the research. Some items don't just require materials, they also require that you have other research done first. For example, you need increased ammo capacity for heavy weapons before you can research some rocket launchers. The prereq's are not listed near the price, but up in the explanation of the upgrade itself.

I'm still early in the game, but already I feel like there's more variety in the guns than there was in ME1, having only picked up two pistols. Whoa, different rates of fire! Finally it no longer feels like the exact same gun reskinned a thousand times. And if you ARE into just reskinning things for their appearance, you can do that to your heart's content with your armor.

And yeah, I find it hard to believe that anybody really misses the routine omni-gelling extravaganzas.

I miss the ability to change my squads armor. Too many of these guys are glass cannons.

You don't just upgrade armor, you can find and buy different pieces. Stop talking about the game when you have no idea what's going on.

I would like the new system better if it was simpler. It seems to require too many mouse clicks. Select player, click select, click weapon type, click desired weapon.....And there's no doubleclick feature for navigating these menus, which is extremely frustrating!

I don't miss it. There was little variety packed into a lot of items in the ME1 inventory. Four weapon types with 10 levels of 6 weapons that weren't all that different from eachother. Same with the upgrades - How many Scram Rail IX's do you really need? And it's not like you had to weigh the pro's and con's of different weapons to choose one to use. There was always a clear winner in each category so there was no decision making involved - Once you got all the Spectre X gear, you were done with the inventory.

I do miss that old, clunky, horrible, annoying, over stocked inventory somehow. Oh well. *Goes and plays Mass Effect 2*

Yes I do.

Gotta love the fanbois attempting to justify the dumbing down of the game.

I miss the old ME1 inventory system very badly. I just don't get how you send your colleagues into battle wearing a t-shirt.

Hell no!

Gotta love the anti-fanbois trying to find gold in the muck that was old inventory. Was prolly the worst in history, even the really dubious MMO inventories looked like a great thing compared to ME1.

yeah! Only dumb people don't like having to delete 15 junk items from their inventory everytime they kill a few enemies!
