ok so far already a lvl 20 character

i have 3 assault rifles

1 MG

2 smg

2 shotgun

2 pistols

2 sniper rifles

here is my grip. the only difference between my assault rifles is one is a full auto and the other is 5 round burst. other then that there is no difference. i want more variety in my weaponry. i want the game to reward me for using particular weaponry(specializations) frankly having actual stats to compare weapons is important. instead i have well a or b but there is no difference

Or the automated manufacture system that makes them from schemathics? At least you could complain about the explanation given, instead of making up your own complaints.

ok so instead of 10 weapons instantly appearing my ship makes them from nothing. no resource cost no money cost they just appear.

I agree with this too.

Word of advice, BioWare: Next time FIX an issue. Don't REMOVE it.

They did fix it by removing it. I don't want to piddle around with all that crap - and there's no one that has ever built a good inventory system on any platform. The whole concept of looting sucks, period. You can't make dragging around 3 suits of armor, 10 weapons, 8 potions/medi-gels and assorted other crap fun especially since you have to strip all that stuff off dead bodies -- oooh, feel my heroism.

Hate to break this to ya but you simply cannot dislike an inventory system because it's unrealistic. That's just pathetic, you see? Stating that the whole concept of looting sucks as a fact is also pathetic. I suggest you move yourself to the Unreal Tournament, Counter Strike or Gears of War forums before you make an even bigger fool of yourself.

kthxbye!

That's a cut, like the mako. EA is in big trouble, they need money. The game went out without beeing fully finished. They made the main story, improved the action part, and axed all the rest. A pity to see BIOWARE fall from an AWEsome compagnie to a EA hound.

Poor SWTOR, if it's done like this with half the fearure axed, it won't survive next to the other MMO.

What? The Mako was cut because the consensus was that it was annoying to play, especially in the planetary exploration bits in which you bounced all over the damn place and struggled to climb ridiculously-steep mountain ranges.

The inventory was cut because... it isn't needed? How many people bothered switching out their gear once they got ahold of Spectre gear weaponry and that Predator H heavy armor? (Or your class's applicable "ultimate armor" if you weren't playing a Soldier.)

There wasn't some grand variation of equipment in the original game. Humans had palette-swapped versions of light/med/heavy armor, Tali had one palette-swapped suit, etc, etc. Same for weapons. Combine the similarity of the gear with that annoying-ass inventory system (even on the PC with the improved UI the inventory was still cumbersome and annoying) and you have a prime candidate for being cut.

Inventory management sucks. I wish more games would rid themselves of "inventories". The concept itself of carrying around 14 tons of useless crap around on your character is stupid in itself.

There are better critiques of Mass Effect 2 than the inventory system being s--t-canned.

You can play FPS if you don't likethe RPG micromanaging part of those game.

There are a great number of good FPS and TPS that completly blow ME2 for what you are looking for. They are actually the game genre with the most number of title.

We don't need the old inventory, system (if we need one at all), what we actually need is it to be fixed. Also, everyone is right, no need for a million different guns when there are only 2 models of each. What I do wish they'd done was add some armor pieces to the loot finding experience in addition to finding money. I mean, there was that one Bioware video of the artist saying he drew so many helmets that he started getting sick of seeing them and yet there are less than six helmet models in the game.

On that note, I would hate to have been the guy who designed armor only to see that less than 5 of the hundreds of other pieces I'd created had been cut.

That game needed to go out as fast as possible. DAO, made me consider if I'd continue to buy Bioware game or not. ME2 might be the game that will make me don't care about Bioware anymore.

I wonder if the RPG nerds yelled at Froto and his Fellowship for not picking up the weapons after doing battle with the Orcs.

"YOU STUPID FOOLS! THAT GEAR COULD BE BETTER.. YOU CAN SELL IT FOR GOLD COINS! OMG.. WHY WOULD YOU NOT PICK UP INFERIOR GEAR???"

People like tedious micro-management? The 'inventory' in ME 2 may not exist, but it's loads better than scrolling through all the useless loot in ME 1.

This is a sequel to a game with a looting aspect to it... to simply cut the feature either implies laziness or apathy towards the large subsect of gamers that Bioware games appeal to. Too bad Bioware got their wish and this forum has been diluged with the shooter mindset. Hopefully Dragon Age remains untouched or else Bioware is another mediocore company among mediocore companies.

Uh, there's nothing wrong with a company branching out beyond making the same old RPG style games over and over. Look at Valve, they've released a lot of fantastic shooters, and each one feels distinct and different. Half-Life 1, Portal, Half-Life 2, DoD:S, TF2, L4D, L4D2, CS:S. They've moved beyond just making narrative driven shooters (Half-Life 1) to puzzle games and addictive team-orientated shooters.

So what if BW decides to take a gamble and a calculated risk at changing and reinventing what constitutes as a RPG? I'd rather see variety in their lineup, even if it means stumbling a little.

THIS IS A SEQUEL. If this was new IP, then this BS wouldn't be an issue. But ME1 exists. A legacy exists. And this game just ignores almost all of it.

You will freeze to death in the vacuum of space very quickly if you do not have a proper suit. The temperature in space can get close to absolute zero. One of the many little things that just make the game unbelievable and by that I mean the game is no longer a sci-fi game trying to make itself look realistic.

Just FYI.  The underlays on those suits are obviously heat resistant and ultradense.  There is virtually NO convection and no conduction of heat in space.  A sufficiently good and sealed insulator would be enough to go into space.

That is precisely what a space suit is.  The bulk of the space suit is there solely for that purpose.  There's nothing special about it.  It's just a sealed suit.  If Mass Effect technology is advanced enough to do that with a suit of armour, then it can be considered realistic.

So was Half-Life 2 to the original Half-Life. Different setting, different gameplay mechanics, different story, different characters and a different focus, with only a few returning from the original. Did that stop it from becoming one of the finest games ever made? No.

ME 2 wasn't the game you thought it would be, ok, fair enough, BW can't please everyone. So instead of repeating how they apparently 'ruined' what your vision of ME should be, why don't you offer something that the Devs can work and improve on for ME 3? Mindlessly ranting that ME 2 sucked doesn't help at all. Don't like the new ammo mechanic? Find the middle-ground for ME 3. You still need to eject, but you can still continue firing, albeit the weapon does less damage and fires slower. Want to avoid ejecting altogether? Make it so you can upgrade the weapon to the point where you can fire it endlessly like in ME 1. See? Now both crowds are happy.

Don't like the removal of the loot and inventory in ME 2? Fine, for ME 3, re-add it but improve it so we can filter the items by name, damage, cost and type. Not enough weapons, add a few more so there's a wider variety. Don't like the inability to equip squad mates with armour in ME 2? Middle-ground again for ME 3, 15 sets of armour that can be found/purchased. Each set made up of 4 pieces, helmet, chest, arms and leg. Not enough skills in ME 2 for yourself and your team? Add two or three more, with the ability to unlock more for your squad via side-quests.

See? Isn't that more helpful to the Devs than 'ME 2 is ruined!!11'?

I've given long lists in other topics and even other forums, so I'm not mindlessly ranting.

As for the Half-Life comparison... hated both games with a passion, so didn't really care about the changes all that much since the games were still bad in my opinion.

Stumbling a little? Try arms pinwheeling madly as they try desperately to stay on their feet.

And therein lies the problem. ME 2 wasn't personally made to suit your taste, so you hate it. You even hate the Half-Life series, which is a surprise when the original game was pretty much a genre-defining one. And BW are hardly desperately trying to stay balanced. The critical and financial success of both DA and ME 2 along with the release of their first MMO will pretty much guarantee stability for BW for quite a while.

It isn't that it doesn't suit my personal taste. I like TPS, FPS, RPGs, and Platformers. The issue is that this game had a previous installment to which it had to maintain ties with. It severed most of them and thus this game is a failure as a sequel. As a stand alone title or even a spin off, it is fine. But as Mass Effect 2 it is terrible.

As for Half-Life: the story was trite and the characters were bland for the most part. I had to force myself to finish both games and niether was worth the effort. I felt the same way about Bioshock, another revered title.
