The combat system is still crummy, why can't Bioware add in the tactics system? I'm currently playing Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts quest and it's a lot of slog work even if you don't want to do the annoying side quests which provide you bonuses to your influence - so I'm forced to do them to get as much influence I can for the perks.

Nice analysis. I agree with most of it....however I have derived a ton of enjoyment from the game - hours and hours of game play and about 5 playthroughs. Right now I am playing TW3 and that game is as rich and deep and soulful as I have come to expect from DA. It makes DA:I a bit pale in comparison.
I think Bioware simply tried to do too much, and tried to please too many so the result was not a s focused as it could have been. Good for trying and good for being pretty successful. I think next game will be more focused and deeper.
I'm playing TW3 too and I'm blown away by the amount of stuff there is to see, i love exploring, but DAI left me cold... finding shards and mining iron and all that in a world that was mostly without memorable characters or cities or a narrative was kind of a chore.
They're so similar, but TW3 makes me feel the ways origins once did, and DAI... well, I love dragon age, and i felt genuine disappointment at more then one aspect of the game.
Edit: Seriously, finding shards was painful, and the payoff, that stupid rift demon with extra hp was no substitute for great story. It could have been so much more.

DA:I was a chore/slog for me, I never had any fun beyond learning more about the lore. Everything else felt like having to work in order to get more bits of lore.

The worst thing about DAI is that it was only narratively unsatisfying in its own right, but it actually tarnished the lore established in the previous games.

It doesn't so much tarnish it, as completely rhrow it out the window wherever they felt like it. Remember when redcliff had cliffs? Remember when the qunari were ultra strict and not very accepting? Remember when mages could heal, which i'm sure has nothing to do with charging people for potions in mp...

it would seem mages can still heal because when you go to the injured refugees in recliffe mother giselle is trying to persuade some one to let a mage heal them. Just apparently mages cant heal in combat. I do miss heal mages.
