This is response to these news: http://www.dragonage...s/save-importer

"All future Dragon Age: Inquisition DLC will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One only, so we designed our Save Importer feature to help make the transition to a new console as easy as possible."

"* Requires Dragon Age: Inquisition to play; sold separately; Requires purchase of PlayStation 4 or Xbox One console."

So basically there will be no DLC's for PS3 and XBOX360 anymore. Although we own the same game we will be missing tons of content and basically be treated like second class players. Save importer isn't enough really to fix this. Why should we buy two versions of same game? That's very greedy from Bioware, since we all already purchased the game.

Let me just say that I was really looking forward new DLC's especially when I heard rumors that they will be content heavy, but this really doesn't make me want to buy another version of the game I already have. And I'm not ready to upgrade to PS4 either, I was going to get it for Mass Effect Andromeda, but not yet.

So I guess although I know there is very big change of Bioware actually doing anything for old gen folks.. after waiting over half year for fixes on the actual game.. I still thought it wouldn't hurt at least ask. So Bioware please be fair and do the right thing. Don't milk your customers and treat them as second class, you yourself decided to sell this game for last gen consoles and you should take responsibility over it.

Bioware doesn't have that power. EA, Sony & Microsoft has that power

They had the power to decide not to do DLC's for older consoles anymore though. I wonder if it's common practice to stop supporting some of systems you released the game on. I haven't heard about any company doing it before.

I haven't either, probably because other companies realized it is a disgusting idea.

That decision could've also came from EA, and Bioware is a developer they only make games

Not making them less responsible in my eyes. If they want to be fair their fanbase and keep their reputation up they shouldn't do this to players. EA as well.

Given how rough the Old genners had it, it would be a step in the right direction toward bolstering EA's attempts to establish themselves for good customer service

So would you rather nobody gets DLC or past gen consoles breaking because they can't handle it anymore

Mate, would it break their back to allow old gens to a free upgrade to nextgen to create that scenario?

There is no way they are unable to do DLC's to past gen consoles. They could do that if they wanted, but they don't. That's the problem here.

They basically could do old gen versions that were stripped down enough (more work) or then strip down the DLC in general enough so PS3 and XBOX360 can run it (less work).

I agree that it would be a good thing to do, but Bioware doesn't have that kinda of power and EA would probably have to get Sony and Microsoft's permission to do it (don't quote me on this because I don't how the EA part works)

It stinks that they did this to their players, so I hope that players can get a copy of the game free on next-gen consoles, at the very least.

The decision seems to have come about due to the problems not only working on coding for the new gen consoles, but also having to work backward to make everything compatible with last gen.  It's a bad choice for customers, but makes sense in terms of BioWare actually being able to release new content.  They may have felt that they were unable to achieve what they needed to on the past gen systems.

I suspect it's a decision that hasn't made BioWare's developers all that happy either - they surely know there will be unhappy, angry players ranting at them now.

People would still be complaining about how they didn't get the same content as the new gen, when they paid the same price.

But, yea, Bioware should give free copies to the old gen people.

I agree they should get free copies if they had already purchased the game.  The only problem is some may not be planning to upgrade for a while, or they may not even upgrade to the next generation of console at all.

Something needs to be done for the players who might miss out entirely, but I don't know what to even begin to suggest.

Maybe. But than people would be howling at the moon because  old gen got a stripped down version of the DLC. As I understand it the actual game without DLC was pushing old gen to it's knees.

With how they've been tweeting and selling it as a good thing, I doubt it.

It would be a great help, and would personally shut me up about the current practices of EA in regards to DAI. I'm not affected by the issue as I didn't buy DAI for PS3/360, others did. They did so in good faith that they could have access to the story.

A free upgrade would give quite a few critics something to think about.

They should be able to trade in their copy for the current gen copy. GTA5 and Saint Row 4 did that.

That's how they've been presenting themselves, so unless there is data that suggests otherwise how else am I to think about their views on it?

Again, do you have any data that suggests they don't see this as a good thing?

So everyone with new gen and pcs should get a stripped down version of a DLC just because you refuse to upgrade?

I'm playing on a PC here, but...

Frankly not everyone can afford to upgrade.  People's lives change, their jobs change, everything changes.  People get out of college, or go into college.  They start families.  Even if they can afford it, maybe they don't have enough time to spare that they want to invest that money in an upgrade.

Point being it's not always as simple as "refusing to upgrade."  $400-$500 is a hefty sum to spend.  That can pay a few bills or buy at least two weeks' groceries for two people.

One thing I can agree with on your viewpoint is that, yes, the DLC that the devs want to make/are making might just be too much for past-gen systems to handle without stripping it down so much that it isn't worth porting in the first place (and it seems to me that porting backward requires a lot of extra effort in the first place).

Players should receive some form of compensation, though.  A free copy of the game on next-gen consoles is a start.  But if people can't or won't upgrade at this time, they still ought to get something in compensation for being left out, because let's face it--dropping development on some of the consoles while still developing content for others is a terrible move from a customer relations standpoint.

Lots of players probably don't even buy or care about the DLC, but that's not really the point either.  The point is it's bad customer service...

I personally did wonder why the game was being released on older consoles while being billed as a next-gen game, and now, instead of dealing with the decision that they made, they're just cutting off the last-gen system players...

Bad customer service or no, I can't hate on the developers for making a tough decision so that they can keep releasing content.  But I can't repeat enough that they need to compensate those last-gen console players in some way, shape or form for cutting them off.
