I'm really sorry as I have 2 really awesome friends are playing the game on old Gen.  I am not that surprised though.  The writing has been on the wall for a while now that BioWare was not able to support the previous gen consoles anymore.  I am glad that they are at least making an effort to allow people to transfer their inquisitors to the current gen though.  I'm very shocked they were able to pull that off.  Take the good with the bad I suppose.

I do however wish the save import would have allowed for cross import as I know a lot of people probably want to switch ships from Microsoft to Playstation (or the other way around).

And adding insult to injury is BW telling us this is a good thing, they're our good pals doing us a favour. No apology in sight.

It sure seems like crappy consolation prize in lottery. Main information was that there will be no DLC's for old gen consoles, but hey at least we allow you to continue your saves when you have to buy new console and new game to play DLC's!

I think I read that all the DLCs will be free for people who already purchased them on the old generation consoles, so at least that's a nice gesture from BioWare. Like I said on another thread, it makes sense that they won't support the PS3 or the Xbox360 any longer and while it is unfair, I understand their decision.

i haven't posted to BSN for months. I feel the need to confirm my opinion that this is crap.

I originally got the game for Xbox 360. While money was never an issue for me, I gave birth to my daughter two months before the game came out and remained with old gen because what money I allowed my self to spend on what I wanted, was spent on buying extra things for my child. I only switched to PS4 last month thankfully but I did not see this whole DLC only current gen/new gen whatever you want to call it coming at all.

I understand it might be impossible to create but I think there should be compensation. There are people who have families and personal issues in life to take care of to drop a couple of hundreds on a new console. Even a DAI bundle would help as they don't sell them , I don't think.

I'm really sorry for all people effected by this. I know people personally who are and I'm annoyed with them.

Just further proof that when Bioware pushed back its release date into 2014, they should have abandoned the cross-gen idea.

Nearly everything done wrong with DA:I can be traced back to serious project management flaws. People vastly over estimating their ability and seriously underestimating the resources required to do it. People were writing checks their Gantt's couldn't cash.

What a mess. Releasing the gimpy game with all the gimpy DLC is one thing, but this puts it on a whole other level. Just reinforces my conviction that the old gen versions were a shameful cash grab.

On the other hand, I suspect that they're not at all happy about this. But they probably like working for Bioware enough to spin it like they're told. I can't imagine they wanted to release the game cross gen in the first place, if they wanted to present their work in the best possible light.

There is precedent for fixing this though, right? Someone mentioned SR4 and GTA5, but I believe that Destiny also did something similar wherein you could trade up your copy from old gen to current gen. Just turn up the heat and see if it moves.

Just get a next-gen console or high end pc. Xbox 360 and ps3 are basically dead.

PS3 is still alive and kicking in Japan, less than it was a year ago though.

Not sure why but this doesn't bother or offend me in any way, different versions of games exist all the time with varying levels of support and feature sets. If they did release the DLC on the 360/PS3 but it was clearly built for Xbox One/PS4/PC specs and ran like crap on the older machines, would you really be satisfied? In the long run if the sales aren't there on the old systems and the game would be better off built for new systems, then so be it.

The problem here is that sales were likely huge on the old gen systems, because they had such a huge install base. That was the longest goddamn generation I can think of, everyone had a PS3 or 360.

And of course, EA knew this.

The game was clearly built for new gen, and that they released it in the first place is disgraceful. That they're dropping support completely makes it worse.

It doesn't affect me, because I play on PC, but I can be angry vicariously through the other folks here. It was a shitty move.

Have they broken down sales cross-generation? I know other publishers have said they weren't getting as many sales on previous generation consoles to make it worth it.

The surprise was it being released on old gen in the first place.

But they did and now they expect players who brought the Xbox360/PS3 version in good faith because they're selling on those platforms to go out and not only upgrade to new gen at £300+ they also want you to buy the game again.

And adding insult to injury is BW telling us this is a good thing, they're our good pals doing us a favour. No apology in sight.

I finally upgraded to the ps4 after deals with gamestop.  I am not sure if I want to repurchase DA Inquistion (paid the same price as everyone else when it was released for the PS3 version) now that I have the PS4 and had the "great" experience of DA I on the ps3.  That said this drop of support for the previous gen is terrible.  As was said in the thread, Bioware, or EA, chose release it on the previous gen, we would have totally understood and accepted it if they did not release it on those consoles, but they did.  We bought the game in good faith that it would play well, not as beautifully as on the current gen, but play without the significant problems that we had.  And now decides to no longer support it?

I am pretty sure I know why EA has decided to do this, their other DLC is not being bought so what they are going to do is give us a 30 dollar dlc that will contain all the content cut from the game that they claimed was cut do to the last gen consoles not being able to handle it. you watch it will be 30 dollars so we can play the game we were suppose to have gotten last year.

I don't think they'd be so stupid as to spin it like this. I also would be very surprised that they'd think we were this stupid after all the backlash they've received on various issues over the last few years.

However, I do believe that cross-gen development was likely a weight around their ankles, and wouldn't be at all surprised if it crippled the current gen experience. Which probably indicates that whatever they do have planned for DLC or expansions might just be too damn big for the old systems to handle. Which is great, but they dug themselves a heckuva hole with this.

It's absurd to dangle this sort of carrot in front of people. If they had just skipped old gen, people who cared for the game would have eventually upgraded and gotten to play it. I'm not sure that a PR disaster and lost goodwill like this outweighs any sales they may have made on old gen systems.

I wouldn't object if they announced that Dragon Age 4 would only be available for next gen consoles. I was more or less expecting that, and wouldn't have made a peep. But to allow us to start a game on the earlier consoles and then expect us to buy new consoles to be able to get the rest of the content is a slap in the face. Why bother releasing DA:I for the earlier consoles at all?

The worst part is that they should have known this would upset a lot of people. When Jaws of Hakkon was first released, it was only for select consoles, and those of us on the ones who didn't get it were pretty angry. That should have been a red flag to them that this was not a good idea. Now I should shell out hundreds of dollars for a new system AND another $60 for the game disc that will play on that system AND whatever cost they're going to sell the DLC at?

I don't know when or if I'll ever get a PS4. It's not a high priority for me, not when I have outstanding medical bills and things like that to be a much greater concern. So I was prepared to have my participation in the DA franchise stop for a while since I knew it would go on without me. I just didn't expect it to happen so soon.

I am not affected by this (I own a pc and a ps4) but I also think it would be nice to give ps3/xbox360-players a free upgrade for the game.

In retrospect Bioware can only be happy that DA:I came out before it´s competiting titles, because this was the only way it could win the rpg of the year title.

This year they really show a lazy and disinterested behaviour regarding their dlc politics (offering some lame costume packs to buy, which other games offer for free) and now they cut off the old gen customers, because it´s to bothersome to release dlcs anymore to them. Very bad customer service. One can only hope that not many buy the game anew, so this shady tactics don´t bring any revenue.

Any chance the Dragon Age Save Importer could be CROSS Platform Save Importer? Not all DAI fans plan on staying within the same console family once they can finally afford to upgrade to next gen consoles. If anything, maybe the cross importer option can be worked through the Dragon Age Keep?

Bioware: Your Dragon Age fans with old consoles would REALLY appreciate utilizing Dragon Age Keep as a viable solution. Cross Import Saves via DA Keep, would allow players to enter in the choices & decisions they made during their DAI play through(s) on old consoles and then import those DAI choices to next gen consoles NOT in the same family.

Both Bioware & EA would STILL make their money because fans will purchase the DAI game for the next gen console of their choice. Then fans can easily participate in upcoming next gen DLC in order to finally complete the story they already committed so many hours to playing.

While many DAI fans on old consoles are not happy right now, the utilization of Dragon Age Keep to assist in Cross Platform Saves could totally be a win-win for your company and your fans.

We shouldn't just take this lying down! We should all try to do something to fix this! Bioware shouldn't alienate their fans this way, it isn't right! We aren't getting something that buyers of the game are entitled to! What could people do? Petition? Complain to the BBB? Or we could boycott the buying of any new dlc until they are available on last gen! We can't give up and excuses like 'buy a new system' don't work! Many people don't have the money for a new console, and we shouldn't have to spend more money on something just to finish a story that Bioware promised us!!!!
