With Andromeda it is possible that we'll have an all human crew, as we did throughout the Shepard trilogy. This is particularly likely if the main character ends up being Alliance military and in command of an Alliance ship, as it wouldn't make sense from a lore perspective for an Alliance warship to have crew members who aren't in the Alliance military.

It is also possible though that with the new galaxy old factions like the Alliance, the Asari Republics, or the Turian Hierarchy will no longer be relevant. The colonists will be be on their own, stranded over 2.5 million light years from Council space. As such it could be that the Andromeda colonists won't be aligned according to the old factions and instead will be united into one single entity, not unlike Star Trek's Federation. Instead of an Alliance vessel, the ship could be an Arkcon (or whatever) ship crewed by a multi-species crew.

To be clear I'm not referring to squadmates, who almost certainly be multi-species. I'm referring to the actual crew of the ship...the Andromeda equivalents to Joker, Dr Chakwas, Adams, Gardner, Kelly Chambers, Traynor, Cortez, and all the nameless characters you see working or wandering around on both the SR1 or SR3.

Do you have a preference between the two? Would you rather the ship was Alliance, or multi-species and part of whatever Arkcon is?

As much as I liked the Alliance SR1 and SR3, I think it could be interesting if this time around the ship has a multi-species crew, with for example an Asari pilot, a human gunnery officer, a Turian comm specialist, a Salarian engineer, ect., ect.

I would prefer a multi-racial crew, but since we know pretty much nothing about ME:A atm, I'm not placing any expectations yet.  Well, except for jetpacks.  Gotta have those jetpacks.   :P

Also, it's SR-2, not SR-3.  If the Normandy had to be rebuilt again, it would be pretty annoying.   <_<

I wouldn't mind some Turians around I just like how Human and Turian cooperation there has been since the First Contact War and I'd like to see that continue and when you consider it in the Mass Effect world their both militaristic in culture so it could be interesting. Honestly initially I'd prefer an all human crew but I feel more open to a majority human crew with a select few specie as a minority in the crew.

I would also prefer a mutli-species crew

BUT...

only if its done carefully.

For an example, as much as i like Star Trek (actually i belong to the rare kind of geek that likes Star Wars and Star Trek), i would find a

species-clusterfuck as in Star Trek Titan rather tiredsome.

I really, really don't need a Hanar-Pilot...

If story goes where I think it goes and Ark is Council project then having Systems Alliance or any other MW nation would be ridiculous. And united government should have united military.

Going the multi-species route would also avoid falling back into the Humans are Special trope, by having an all human crew on a human warship finding new homes for the Turians, Quarians, Asari, ect.

I'd prefer a healthy mix of all races plus the ability to romance them regardless of our character's gender.

Indeed...

a "take our hand, inferior species, we lead you to the promise land"-attitude of a N7 on a stars and stripes banner is another thing i need

as much as a hanar-pilot.

Multi, definitely. But you make a good point, logically the whole Pathfinder thing should only involve humans, being an Alliance thing. Maybe we'll run into other species also trying to colonise Andromeda on their own initiatives, and end up joining forces. Then again, humans will have been a Council race for a while by this point, so maybe Pathfinder would be a joint venture with the Alliance just spearheading it. Or something.

I dunno, but I'm almost dead certain we'll have other species as crewmates.

Multi-species crew. This project is probably a collective effort of all Council species to move in another galaxy, so it makes sense for all the governments to unite their resources in a single project. I actually think that without their homeworlds and governments...the Council species will achieve greater integration and it will be most definitly and multi-races crew.

Echoing what most have said, I believe/hope that it will be a multi- species crew.

I also wonder how they will go about how you choose your squad. You are in a new galaxy, so will all the members from the Milky Way already be on the team? Will the only members you recruit yourself be Andromeda natives?

Just a thought I have.

Maybe it'll be done like in ME1/Inquisition: You recruit most of the squad in the first few hours ( In that case the Milky Way crew) and then you'll recruit 1-2 natives later on. ( Like Legion)

I want a completely Geth/EDI. no need for sleep or rest. With Geth it would be like a hive mind so they wouldn't even need to "talk" to each other.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are other species as crewmembers in the game. It might even have one of the new species join the crew

I expect that we'll have a mixed species crew. It is relatively easy to account for a mixed species crew whether the expedition to Andromeda is civilian or military in nature. A civilian expedition with military support for exploration and research would probably have many species on the crew. It would also make sense for an ark ship to have multiple species on board.

As far as a military mission, I can imagine several scenarios the writers could use to explain a multi species crew. The easiest explanation is that other species are advisers in some capacity. Another scenario is that the alliance of the future allows non-humans to join. Perhaps, the alliance is not the same after ME3 in that several species joined together. N7 is till associated with humans but several other species enter the program. I'm sure more talented people can imagine many more scenarios.

Whether human or not, we will probably start out with a few squad members fulfilling different combat roles. In a mixed species crew, these squad members will probably represent some of the diversity on our ship. We could have many different species fulfilling roles on the ship even if those species don't make it on the squad. Then, we'll probably pick up new squad members in Andromeda that act as guides or experts.

I say keep it 99% human with like 1 alien, a mixed multi-species reminds me too much of star trek.

Even with a multi-species crew being commonplace in Star Trek, humans still outnumbered their alien shipmates by at least 2:1, sometimes even 3:1 or 4:1.

Personally, I would like to see a multi-speceis crew with an equal presence on the ship; if we are only taking the 4 Council races into account, then I would like to see the crew divided into 25% Human, 25% Asari, 25% Turian, and 25% Salarian as an example.

I would like to see a more multifaceted crew, but I have a sneaking suspicion that humans will seemingly outnumber every other species in the game combined.

I can see you starting out with a human crew in the beginning (whatever alliance the PC is working with), but then after *insert plot twist that makes the PC the shining star of the story* you either wind up recruiting your crew or find yourself with a new multiracial crew like they did with Inquisition. Of course it'll likely be 85% human and a smattering of the other races.

I'd like it if you got to choose who to sign on if your character runs his or her own crew. Like a choice of an engineer, specialist...with their own advantages and disadvantages. Pro humans, progressives, people who just put who they like better...everyone gets their wish fulfillment. But if that's not an option (and probably isn't) I'd definitely go for multiracial crew. Way more opportunity for drama and insight into the races/perspectives.
