I7 6GB x2 GTX 295 ( SLI ) SSD in RAID vista x64 -- 195.62 with fixed profile and AA enabled; Steady 60.1 FPS while VSync ON.

Go to the engineering room in the Normandy and see if you get huge drops.  I have great fps too except for in certain areas... it's a definite bug.

Once you notice those FPS drop, check uor card Clock, the power management profile downclock uor CORE speed to 2D MODE. .-.
ALT-TAB or set to "max performance" the  "adaptive power management" over the Mass Effect II profile in the NVIDIA control panel.

Anyhow:

SLI PROFILE UPDATE 4

Yeah man, I 100% have "max performance" set and it doesn't make a difference.  By the way all that SLI update does is what adding the masseffect2.exe to nHancer does, allowing you to force AA.

I double checked to make sure and yeah, 22 fps MAX in the engineering room on the Normandy.  That's all I really need to do to test because that's where the "bug" is most prominent.  It affected me on the first mission too.

Check your card going in 2D mode through Rivatuner and/or EVGA Precison.

I have Precision up but I don't see anything about 2D mode. Also, I installed that SLI profile update 4 and it completely wiped Mass Effect 2's profile from the list and doesn't recognize it. Also gives me an error with nvApp.xml loading it up. I'm going to reinstall drivers and not use that.

I am using multi-gpu 32x antialiasing and there are no fps drops in tech room, with normal aa and sli I have fps drop in tech room too. It is similar to ME1 citadel bug.

Can someone tell how to enable nHancer when I run ME2? Can I use nHancer with a 9800GTX+ using driver ver. 196.21? I've tried playing around with it but it doesn't seem to enable any aliasing to the graphics using the recommended ME2 settings. I'm new to using this type of program to enhance the game so if someone can explain what I have to do would be appreciated thanks.

I have the same problem...
also, we can edit this new profile suing Nhancer, right? we dont have to go line by line in notepad?

Yes, you can. I've tried it myself and it works fine. :)

Grestorn, can you start a new game and take a screenshot of the intro in third shot with AA enabled?

(1st shot is zoom 1 to lava, 2nd is zoom 2 to lava, and thrid is when camera sees the two characters).

Thanks

Can someone please tell me how to make nHancer work? Because it does nothing when I enable the ME2 profile.

I read the posts here and, just to be sure, if I just have one graphics card (GeForce 8600M GT) then I can turn off SLI without worrying about it affecting my FPS, right? I used to have a ton of lag until I read this and turned of dynamic shadows.

Is there a setting that I can change to disable SLI? (running windowns XP sp3) I hope I didn't miss this info in one of the posts.

Where do I get a copy of the old profile?

Nevermind. I just deleted the profile from nhance. It would appear that I'm a moron who didn't know that this was for when you have 2 video cards instead of just 1.

I'll just leave as you all snicker away...

SLI is a feature that only applies to 2 or more video boards linked together to share the processing load. If you only have 1 board (and it's not a dual-pcb sandwich / 2-boards in 1 package) then you do not have to be concerned about SLI as it will simply not apply to a single board configurtion.

i used this nhancer sli enable and it ruined my FPS

i am running i7 with 2 x gtx295 and vista 32 bit. nvidia drivers that were released a couple of days ago.

disabling the SLI option for ME2 in nhancer FIXED my fps again. the antialiasing in the nhancer profile works fine tho, as long as sli is still disabled in nhancer also

You have to be careful of what sub options you pick.

I used my Crysis settings (including the DX10 SLI options) and my framerate actually went up.

The detailing was noticeably better than I had it set compared to the ME1 profile I'd setup (which included the UT3 option listed above.  I found that to reduce framerate in ME2.)

I don't know if the Crysis SLI DX10 settings will work for you if you aren't using DX10 though, but they work just fine for me with a nice steady 50-60fps and everything maxed.

The game doesn't currently support DX10 as far as I know. The default value (in the game configuration file, Coalesced.ini) for AllowD3D10 is False, and if you set it to True the game will bomb during graphics init, on Vista U x54 anyway perhaps you have different results?

Awesome work. Any idea how to fix the really dark shardows present often on characters? I've heard that it is also a problem with nVidia cards...

Opened xml with winrar. This is inside:

<PROFILE Label="Mass Effect II">
    <APPLICATION Label="masseffect2.exe"/>
    <PROPERTY Label="aa_feature_bits" Value="0x080100C5" Default="0x080100C5" Itemtype="predefined"/>
   <PROPERTY Label="hybrid_rendering_mode" Value="0x00000001" Default="0x00000001" Itemtype="predefined"/>
   <PROPERTY Label="multichip_rendering_mode" Value="0x02402005" Default="0x02402005" Itemtype="predefined"/>
</PROFILE>

I'll test it this afternoon. I doubt this will be better than my actual settings.

So I thought everything was pretty cool, not using SLI performance mode but rather SLI AA and getting smooth FPS everywhere, but the FPS in cutscenes actually goes down to 30. It's not really noticeable per se but once I installed FRAPS it became apparent that this was the only time it dipped, and you could count on it.

Looks like it's due to DepthOfField + AA, and I like the depth of field effect far too much to disable it so I either have to put up with no AA, or AA and "slow" cutscenes. Hmm.

OMG finally got AA enabled in ME2 after installing nhancer. Went to Nvidia control and selected override application setting under AA settings in the ME2 profile. Running with 8x AA @ 1920x1200 res. The game looks so much better now with very little hit to performance.
