There is no need to suffer a bad reaction to a business announcement like this, as it seems pretty obvious that once an old format gets left behind - - - this is bound to happen at some point??
Yup and at-least bioware is making the change over easy
You know really do smell a sony and mircosoft hand in things also, given dragon age inquesiton is still somewhat popular
Inquisition sold very well guise :^)

"At some point" shouldn't have been after releasing a full game and 3 DLCs to last gen consoles before the actual story is over.
Fact of the matter is, Bioware should have never bothered releasing last gen ports if they couldn't commit.
Where was this mentioned? I'm curious

Thanks! This is interesting, I wonder why they decided to leave old gen behind. If I had to guess, their sales were probably not as strong with old gen. DAI should've only be current gen to begin with and the game suffered by the concessions they had to make by releasing it to old gen as well.http://www.dragonage...s/save-importer

This is what happens when your system is expiring. It's not something that is unexpected.
No you know what is stupid having valuables and junk in the same category, like what the hell, should I sell
Because I'm trying a new style. Just feeling like it. Don't worry, it's just a phase.
Ha! You're awesome, dude.

Seriously, that made me smile for some reason.

meanwhile in reality, someone bookmarked this gif and killed someone with laughter in the process.
"Next gen" has been out long enough now that they really shouldn't have supposed "old gen" from the start. The game would have ended up in a better place if they just went with "next gen" and PC. It's a move in the right direction if the next DLC will have story-content that "old gen" simply can't support. That being said, those that already purchased the game for 360 or PS3 should be given some sort of coupon or compensation since they will be forced to buy the game again if they want to continue with new content.
Then again, it's not like I've never bought a game twice. After realizing that Skyrim was unplayable on PS3 I gave it away and bought it for the PC. I also bought DA:O for PC after buying the PS3 version. ![]()
Varric's chest hair.. where are thou? He has been converted to the Qun and shaved it.
Well, ****.
The consoles simply aren't powerful enough to play what BioWare is planning ahead for the next DLCs so they had to make a choice.

BS!
Could you please be more specific about what the old-gen can't handle, which the new-gen can? Something, anything, that have never happened on xb360\ps3, but is going to happen in DAI on xb1\ps4?
ps: I'm going to have nightmares from now on, about DA4\MEA forbidding me to play on my current laptop and not allowing me to buy&run their games unless I get myself an upgrade....

My job here is done.

I don't think it's right call to release cross-gen game and stop supporting it on some platforms suddenly.
It would be nice if they at least promised free versions for those who want to buy DLC's. It's unreasonable to force players buy two versions of same game.
Well I have bought DAO for both PS3 and PC. But I bought it only for PC cause I could get all DLC's and game in ~10 euros package when Awakenings alone would have been over it for PS3. DAI at the moment is quite expensive (~60 euros) and no ultimate packages with all DLC's for 10 euros on sight so it's quite different. Also.. Skyrim works quite marvelously on my PS3, I don't know what people are talking about ![]()

I'm pretty sure one of the big things they had to cut from the game was a big battle sequence of some sort. From what I remember reading, the "old gen" consoles couldn't handle it so they cut it entirely.
In the end, we would have had a much different game if they didn't try to support "old gen" from the start. "Next gen" consoles have been out since Q4 2013...it's time to say goodbye to the PS3 and 360. The same thing happened to the PS2 and Original XBox.

Well, after wanting to throw my PS3 against a wall for freezing with Skyrim for the bazillionth time, I just gave up and bought it for the PC. Then I realized that things such as mods exist and I haven't looked back since.

I know hell lot of good games that never had any 'massive battles', that's hardly a feature to dump part of the active player base for. Not to mention that mass-populated scenes and locations in DAI are demanding even on the decent PC configs, 'next gen' might not have it that smooth as well.
Also, we had Ostegar back in 2009. And games like BF (same engine) had intense combat zones and scenes for ages. That's not something that had never happened, really.

Why else would even item packs and mp dlc be next gen only now?
How about 'Because Sony and MS have something to say about it'?.. EA does not really care which player pays them their 4.99$, but the console-holders are interested in their new-gen sales. It's always the same simple question - 'Cui prodest?'
No, really, imagine all the efforts they had spent to make that 'save import' possible. They could've used those resources for the real content. Or for the face codes, (ok, I never said that).
I believe it's less performance and more that they didn't want to spend money on adapting he next dlcs to last gen.

Even MP and Item Packs are next gen only???
