...how would that balance dual-casting? Both of those things would take an already highly advantageous build and make it even better. The way to balance dual-casting would be with slower cooldowns and damage/duration penalties, not boosts.

Wow, I hope you'll never be in charge of balancing a game in your life
You should suggest reduced mobility and armor, while you're at it

You can already cast 3 powers at once (using 2 of your squadmates, and your own ability).  That's fine with me.

Some people can fight without weapons, some can't. No need to impose your playstyle

I'm talking in-universe.

Either way hopefully "casters" won't make an appearance in ME:A.

You're only thinking about single player

I guess you're just trolling here then

No, but a "caster" does sound pretty laughable.

[Snip]

I want to carry twin swords with some kind of element or even eezo coated around because you know (mercenary/ninja ftw  )

Not sure if this is sarcasm but I would absolutely love this. The whole Shooter thing has always given me a love/hate relationship with this franchise. I love RPGs, the Sci Fi setting and story but hate shooters. :/

The irony is so real I hit my head on it.

You don't balance an advantage by making it more advantageous.

You surely did hit your head at some point, no denying here
As you can read here, most people consider having no weapon a disadvantage, yet you want to give more disavantages, without adding any advantage => you clearly don't know what balance is

Sorry friend, but Mass Effect is a shooter and if you don't like the pew-pew aspect of it, you can just spam powers.

QFT.

People have short memories, but ME3 and its broken weapon weight/PRS and combo system is actually the only game in the series that you can get through on insanity in a somewhat efficient fashion without using the weapon much, but even then not shooting between powers is objectively a suboptimal playstyle (as it should be...in a shooter).

Going into combat without a weapon should be an option in ME:A, but you should end up deader than Pvt. Jenkins at the first lowly mook you run into, and subsequently unlock an achievement aptly named "Darwin Award".

I love it!

Man I hope the next ME has Dark Souls level of hurt for poor decisions.

Being able to cast 2 powers without cooldowns would be immeasurably broken. Biotic and tech explosions deal so much more damage than guns that every class not dual-casting would have gimped damage output in comparison.
Have you even played Mass Effect 3?

Yeah. You know how in ME3, you can chose how many weapons you carry by unselecting the ones you don't want? Well, make zero weapons an option.

That doesn't seem very practical.

No they don't. They are great to start with because you level up more quickly than you get weapons, and they solely depend on your powers. But once you stock up with high level guns, ammo, mods, etc dps from guns overtake combos by quite a lot.

Note that you can already "cast" 2 powers without cooldowns by using grenades (and some special powers). And yes, you could consider some grenades broken, but no more so than some weapons, and not because of the biotic explosion.

I don't think there is any point in making any combination of powers work without a cooldown.  There can be some cases where it is quite cool. The Awakened Collector is awesome the way it is able to muck around with cooldowns on dark sphere and seeker swarm. There are combos like Throw which instantly refreshes the GCD. There are powers that don't use a cooldown but some other resource like Nova or Phase disrupter. But there are certainly some powers that should never be allowed to be chained together.

To be fair, every class is overpowered if you know what you're doing. Soldier + Typhoon + Incendiary Ammo with explosive bursts can take down a Brute in less than 3 seconds on Insanity. When I play as a biotic and have James on the team, even at 60% effectiveness, I can take one down in less than 5 with a Hurricane...only because it's big and slow though. I can't aim that weapon for sh-t.

Yep, 5 single player playthroughs and 900h in multiplayer
Also nobody but you spoke about having no cooldown between powers, I only spoke about a reduced cooldown.
But don't worry, we'll let you play with your Harriers and Hurricanes if you want to stay the DPS uber race ;-)

I've seen some people speaking about dual wielding guns or SMGs, but what I'd like is the ability to dual cast powers (e.g. Incinerate in left hand, Overload in right hand).
When I play ME3, I tend to use more powers than shoot bullets (you can call me a spammer). This would give me the opportunity to go on the field without any weapon (maybe a pistol holstered just in case), like a caster should be.
Obviously for balancing, dual casting would bring better cooldown and/or more powerful effects (duration, damage, ...)

                                                                       <<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>

There is no need for that. You still have to key the Powers seperately anyway.

Come to think of it,  perhaps a combo Power later in the game and when you reached a certain ability level.

I would love too see the ME version of a derrigener (a small gun that Shultz killed Candie in Django Unchained).

Dual casting, you better get the perk so you don't drain your magicka too fast.
