It's not a reward for killing dragons.  It's a reward for killing dragons IN MULTI-PLAYER!

It's not supposed to be "accessible to everyone".  That would kinda' defeat the whole point.

I know exactly how it works and what they want. I'm saying I think they should have done it differently.

I thought that was mind-blogglingly obvious. I've just had enough of your incessant apologies for Bioware, even when I'm not really attacking them. They're not infallible.

Okay. Anyone that wants this on Xbone can contact me to set up a time. I'll run you through a match pretty quickly. You only need to show up. You can be level one with level one gear. It really doesn't matter to me.

You mean I could do it wih a level 1 MP character? I don't buy that, even with an experienced group.

Yes, that's exactly what I mean.  I've soloed it before on routine.  So doing it with a team is not much of a stretch.  It's the most basic level.  Now, you could not do it alone with a level 1 player and not having played before.

I tried it solo on routine with a level 6 character with Barrier and I didn't even get close.

That's why she said with an experienced team. No, I don't believe for a minute anyone who's never played MP before could take a Level 1 character with Level 1 gear and go solo the dragon.

It's not gonna happen. I've been playing DAIMP for 8 months and, frankly, I don't think I could solo the dragon with a Level 1 character with starter gear. Honestly speaking, I don't think I'd make it to Zone 5 to even face the dragon with that set-up.

But a new player can absolutely go Quick Match a Routine Fereldan Castle game, stumble on three other people, and if those three other people have been playing this MP at all (highly likely), then they can help you along to victory. And if you hate human interaction, I can almost guarantee you will hear nothing but silence in that lobby anyway because that's largely been my experience and seems to corroborate with many other MP players. So, you can easily think of those three other people as SP party members that you can't control and are running on the AI tactics.

This is also why a bunch of us are posting in here to be nice and offer help. Because if you get in with someone who's already been playing/knows the MP/has better gear, you'll be fine for beating the dragon. If you're on PS4 at all, I'd be more than happy to unlock the content for you. I did so for two folks earlier tonight and - despite neither having any MP experience to speak of - neither one even died tonight. They survived, one even seemed to really enjoy it, and when either got low on health, I tossed a healing mist grenade on them and all was well.

Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

I just wanted to thank Cirvante for helping me kill a dragon and getting the Decor. It took 11 min. and I kid you not, my 12th level AW barely did a thing. While it wouldn't have been my choice to put SP extras in the MP, there are some great people who'll help. :)

You'd think there would be.  But nope.

For this single player content, you gotta MP...

I don't think the people that are taking issue with this are particularly concerned about the amount of time it could potentially take, or how difficult it might potentially be, though, Hrungr.  The issue would seem to be that this particular policy is in direct contradiction to what was explicitly promised by every developer tweet around the time that MP was announced.  I'm relatively indifferent to the decor stuff, so currently I'm shrugging and moving on, but the people that really get into the customisation stuff and really don't want to do MP are - in my view - well entitled to raise a bit of a stink.  I'll probably be there with them if more significant content is locked exclusively behind MP in the future.

Bingo.

Though I probably wouldn't put it quite so diplomatically,   :D

Oh, I know. And believe me, I don't like or want SP extras that you have to unlock in MP.

But in this case - it's already there. And if you do want it, there are some good people volunteering their time to help.

Yeah,. but at release it looked like they actually kept that promise, that SP and MP would in fact remain totally separate.

Alas a few months later, they went back on that promise.   :(

I guess we are left with the situation of needing to wait and see....are we at the top of the 'slippery slope' (I hope not, and am willing to believe not), or is this a one off 'glitch' in the policy making and won't be repeated.

Time will tell, I suppose.

Just reiterating what some others have said:

Yes, there should be a way to unlock in via SP. But this is how it is, and you only have to play one game. That's not too much to ask, is it?

Thanks for helping, everyone, too!

Yes.  it is.

Not everyone wants to MP (there are some even more reluctant than I)

And there are some who for whatever reason  simply can't play online.  But want to enjoy all the SP content.

Given that it the decor is entirely optional, it is possible to say "I guess so".  The issue is being able to take the developers at their word when they tell us things.

From a principles standpoint, having to click on multiplayer in the game menu could be considered asking too much.

Since we're reiterating things; I don't think anyone is claiming the method by which you claim these dragon heads is onerously difficult or time consuming.  They're claiming they have to do something they were specifically promised they wouldn't have to do.

This too.

How are we supposed to trust their claims anymore?  "This is absolutely true, unless we change our minds later" isn't a great foundation for trust.

Especially since it would be so freaking easy to implement this in SP.  I mean there's TEN high dragons in the vanilla game.

Particularly relevant in a week where we also learn that 2 of the 5 launch platforms will no longer be receiving support or content of any kind.  Nice that they obviously spent some time building the save game import system and that purchased DLCs will cross the generational gap (for those who are affected and choose to move over), but having to buy the base game again...?  Of dubious integrity.

Oh - and I'm on PC, so not affected one way or another, other than general concern about business practices, however justified they might be from a cost benefit analysis point of view.

I haven't seen anything that has shown that Bioware lied. I've only seen very subjective interpretations of what was said. Anyway, it's not like SP only people will never get this stuff. They'll release all the "exclusive" content to everyone eventually just like they did with DAO and DA2.

@AarynFlynn @dragonage count for SP so my question is, IS the MP going to have ANY effect on the SP at all?

Aaryn Flynn ‏@AarynFlynn

@user @dragonage No gated content. But we do have some cool ideas for the future, even as we keep the experiences distinct.

From the twitter thread.  "Content" is an interesting term, very flexible - but if Aaryn Flynn can't be unequivocal and certain, then who can?

Mark Darrah ‏@BioMarkDarrah 1m

And no, singleplayer content is NOT locked behind MP.

Patrick Weekes ‏@PatrickWeekes 1m

Dragon Age Inquisition's multiplayer has been IMMENSELY fun to play. Can't wait to join you. :) http://ca.ign.com/ar...ll-about-loot …

Ability Drain ‏@AbilityDrain

Since the characters work for our Inquisitor, will some of the items we unlock in multiplayer become available in story mode?

Mike Laidlaw ‏@Mike_Laidlaw

No, they're separate modes.

Ability Drain ‏@AbilityDrain 5

Thanks for replying. Ok, one more: will we get to meet some of those characters in single player? Or are they strictly MP only

Mike Laidlaw ‏@Mike_Laidlaw

More details later.

To clarify, playing MP vs. not playing MP will have no impact on your SP experience.

And these.  Still room for subjective interpretations, I guess, but that room is getting awfully tight.

All a bit beside the point, though.  It's done, and they won't be changing it.  Just pointing out that the people who attacked those like Iakus and myself and others leading up to and immediately following the MP announcement in August for being paranoid, delusional and anti-social are increasingly looking like they should apologise.  Or at the least, feel bad.

This is clearly content, no 2 ways about it. They've gone back on their word. Probably because MP is not doing that well but there are other options.

Whilst I agree with you on the sleaziness of this move, at the time they probably had no intention of doing this, so no dice.

Is it not?  I hadn't paid any attention.  If true, I can't say I'm hugely surprised.  For me - and this is just my feelings on the matter - if you look at all the 'things' that make up the game - exploration, lore, conversations, banter, crafting, story, combat etc etc, for me, combat (which is what MP is, almost exclusively - there is crafting, I understand) is the least fun part.
