1 The franchise has always had paid DLC. No harm, no foul.
2 The minigame was available to everyone with any kind of internet connection. It didn't even require purchase of the base game. It may have been a timed exclusive, but it wasn't gated behind a particular platform or playing style.
3 Origins had the Dead Space armor (which I still don't have). I won't play sci-fi, so no Ser Isaac's armor for me. Besides, I think the time's up on that offer, anyway. Again, this isn't something new.
4 Origins had retailer-specific items, too, and they were eventually available as free downloads.
Hey, if you like playing MP, great! If you like playing MP and SP, great! But a lot of people emphatically don't like MP for entirely valid reasons. If they're trying to entice SP players to try MP, it would make sense to make the MP environment more hospitable instead of offering SP treats.
I'm not going to grind at something I don't like for 20 hours to get a dragon head to hang on my wall. Not when I've killed 80 dragons in SP already.
I'm not going to buy loot chests so that I can play something I don't like.
In short, it's BioWare's decision to offer this content as an MP exclusive, but it's a stupid one. I might have purchased SP content as a DLC, but I'm not going to grind MP to get it.
There was a time when Dragon Age was a quality SP game. I grieve to see it turning into an MMO.
