I didn't realise it was poor etiquette to use that button. Mostly, I've seen leaders of the group use it when the party rushes off past a locked/bashable door or magical barrier. I always follow the leader or tank but a couple of times, someone has yelled for me to come unlock a door and I would have missed it if they hadn't pointed it out. I don't know the maps by heart yet.

I never wanted to use it myself to point stuff out. If the leader wants to plow on ahead I just do it. But if the leader is hanging back trying to get in a room and everyone is rushing ahead and he or she is calling out and I'm just standing there like a plum, I wanted to call out too to show support... or something.

Is this not done?

It's a fond bit of humor, on our part, as kaileena said.  It's really not bad form at all.  As with everything, there are those rare instances where some people use it incessantly and inappropriately so that the running joke is that we never want to hear it again.

Every time I come across a revenant this weekend I am going to spam the 'over here friends!' button.

So, I haven't gone over to the darkside or anything but I have to thank mfr001 for taking me through my first dragon slaying and and putting up with me disconnecting twice during the match. I still strongly believe that SP content should never be locked behind MP content but I'm not going to lie and say playing with someone you (sort of) know is much more fun than playing with randos. I still think MP is a bit repetitive but it is strangely addictive too. I kept playing and killed a second dragon on Threatening but this time as a Legionnaire in a PUG.

I never ever play as a tank in anything because I feel like it's kinda boring not being the one dishing out the most damage but when it's real life players you are protecting it's much more interesting. Our group was just kinda in sync and we ended up playing another five matches after that. I love stage 5 against the Red Templars and trying to keep the aggro of the Commander (?), a couple of revenants and everything else. I didn't have any promotions at the time (I have 2 now) but my little dwarf was kinda indestructible.

I want to give perilous a go but I'll probably wipe in the first round... I did only start playing yesterday.

ONE OF US! ONE OF US!

But seriously, I get you. I'm usually a sneaky rogue in SP, but I'm a true warrior at heart in MP because there is just something about knowing you're playing with fellow fans and tying to protect them. Same with my Barrier-spamming and crowd control with mages... it's nice to know you're helping others and not just pixel people.

Not a knock against pixel people, BTW. There are many I adore, after all.

But there's just something about co-op MP... gets in your blood... then, one day, you see yourself enjoying both while SP-only folks decry you as a MP fan. Life is strange and fascinating, yet here we are.

Shh! Don't tell anyone!

I have to play all weekend now because it's double xp. I want those promotions and some decent armour so I can play perilous.

The thing about the dark side is that it has so many bright shiny things to offer.

You start on Foundation, and tell yourself you are just experimenting so that you will realise that MP has nothing to offer you. But then you think that to be fair you should have a quick look at Threatening, and before you know it ... Heartbreaker beckons you - and MP claims another victim!

I was one of the "I don't want MP in my Mass effect game" until I did it to get the "best ending" and found that it was way more fun than I thought it would be.

While the maps are repetitive the big advantage with MP is you can quickly change your playstyle from match to match.

Barrier Bot one game, the next an assassin, after that a Reaver for a couple more.  Depending on your mood and your team mates.  That is part of the fun and if you can gather a group of friends so much the better.

Think I may go poke Billy about putting Dragon Chests back in the store for a week or two, try to help us help support the SP folks.

Well, they did it. Dragon Chests are back in the store.

But stock up now, as it sounds like this is the final weekend they will ever offer them (according to his tweets this morning).

A BIG thanks to BadgerladDK for carrying my exceedingly squishy Legionnaire through a dragon hunt this morning for the Dragon Props gear.

Again, many thanks to those of you who volunteered to do this - have a fantastic double xp weekend!! :)
