I can respect that. At least you know the game isn't good enough to get too excited about.

Still a sleazy act on Bioware's part though. Or is it EA? I don't even know.

Bioware is EA.

*sigh*

I'd have more sympathy towards last-gen players if I hadn't already have to buy the game twice.

I originally bought DAI for PS3, but after two weeks of constant crashing back to the home screen, crappy graphics, and, eventually, a complete inability to load, I saw the writing on the wall and went with an Xbone.  I wanted a PS4, but an Xbone was cheaper, so my wallet didn't bleed as much.

It was probably one of my most financially irresponsible decisions, but, if I wanted to keep gaming, I had to put up or shut up.  What really cheeses me off is that I spent the money to upgrade to a new console for what turned out to be a lackluster game.  <_<

I've heard from friends it still crashes on current gen, that's just something dragon age does it seems...I didn't feel the game was lack luster though...BUT everyone is intitled to their opinions on that. Could it have been better? yeah but I feel that way about a number of games...usually nitpicking...but this is simply a matter of forcing extra financial burden and sleazy practices on gamers; it needs to stop.

So all of you still thinking this isn't a big deal, after doing a little digging I found out...guess what. Even if you get a new console, and a new copy your pre-order bonus' that you...ya know got free when you pre ordered and BOUGHT your copy of the game? Yeah those...won't carry over that free flames of inquisition pack you got on last gen? You will have to PAY for that on current gen, the special mounts, the skyhold throne that you got for preordering deluxe doesn't carry over...so still think this is fair folks?

Bioware is EA.

Technically yes, but I'm not sure who ultimately makes these decisions. The developers... or the slick marketing grad who doesn't really give a **** about consumers.

I mean, is this something the developers are actually proud of themselves about? It's hard to imagine.

Based on the tenor of some tweets from the devs, it sounds like they would have rather just never released on old gen.

I would agree with them, but coming to the conclusion nearly a year and probably a million customers later (at least) is shortsighted. I would call it a ****** move, but "shortsighted" will get more agreement.

It's not really that is the game isn't good enough to get excited about, more that the size and scope of this game makes expansions seem unwarranted. I already skip at least more than half of the zones as it is.

For all its flaws, I must have enjoyed the game a fair bit, seeing as I've played it through 4 times already and have one more play planned. If nothing else I've certainly got far more than my money's worth!

If there is an epic Solas showdown that IS something I'd want to play, but guys do you really think that's going to happen? I don't think his big twist was meant for a DLC conclusion. It's a sign of where the story is going in the next game. At best on the Solas front we will probably get something on the Witch Hunt level, which is better just youTubed.

The game is extremely stable now on the XB1.  I haven't had a real crash in over a month, and I sometimes play for most of a day.  A week or so ago, it lost all response to controller inputs when I tried to go to the rooftop with Sera.  The characters were still swaying a bit in their standing positions, and the music was still playing.  So, not a crash, but just as terminal.  Backing out to the Home screen and relaunching, I was glad to see it had autosaved in the tavern.  I lost nothing but a bit of time and peace of mind.  The one and only technical disappointment for me are the loading times.  They do impact the flow of the game and narrative.

Compare this to crashing to the Home screen every 2nd or 3rd time I galloped on a mount, 3-4 patches ago.  (Much improved since.)

As for lackluster, I agree with you--not so.  No disappointing game holds my interest--more like holds my entire gaming time hostage--for months.  Can't happen.

More squarely on topic, if Bioware/EA aren't going to support 2 consoles which they chose  as release platforms for the game, then they should at least facilitate migration to the newer consoles.  Minecraft is the perfect example of how to do this.  MC is normally $20 on the XB1, but only $5 for owners of the 360 version.  After plunking down that fiver, everything already owned can be transferred freely--game saves, texture packs, etc.  BW going along with this would mean something like a $15 price tag for rebuying the game for a new-gen console, and that should include all DLC already purchased.  But I guess they expect everything to be re-bought at retail.  That's simply greedy, and will cost them goodwill.

Wow, Bioware is really lame  for doing this to their customers.

People who say last gen players should have known better are also lame.

I feel for you :(

How many threads do we need on this?

As many as possible, especially since EA makes it difficult to file customer grievances. I just want a ****** email address. If I can't get one, I'll mail a ****** certified letter.

I think that part of the problem behind that logic is that both Sony and MIcrosoft are taking a long time to phase out support for their last gen machines. Both are still getting free monthly games for subscribers. Both are still getting regular releases. It's hardly encouraging people to upgrade.

What major releases are last getting aside from the yearly sports titles, Tomb Raider on 360 and maybe COD. So yeah all the main yearly casual games(except Assassin's Creed) may still be available on last gen, all everything else has moved on.

I think the OP is right in being upset. They should be given a free download of the PS4 game to compensate for their losses. It's not their fault Sony and Bioware are being corporate pigs.

How is Sony being a corporate pig? They have nothing to do with EA or Bioware's decision on this matter. They don't even have the marketing deal for this game.

Games for old gen in 2015:

XBOX360: Rise of Tomb Raider

PS3: Dynasty Warriors 8, Persona 5, Yakuza 5, Oddworld, Godzilla, Shovel Knight, Tower of Guns,

Both: Battlefield Hardline, Mortal Combat X, Mad Max, Metal Gear Solid V, Dead or Alive 5, Dragon Ball: Xenoverse, Resident Evil: Revelations 2.

And tons of more, whole list is here: http://www.gamespot....n-2015/2900-45/

The bottom line is that no matter how much some players here pretent like Bioware did great mistake and was weird for doing cross-gen game in 2014 (that they started doing before new gen was even released) we are living in cross-gen period where tons of games are still being made to old gen consoles. Surely next year and following that number of titles made will be dropping greatly until no new games are made for old gen, but some people here are way too quickly to bury these consoles especially when they are still getting lot of new games.

Sony tends to support their last gen consoles for some time, Developers don't all always JUMP right away to next gen as proven by current releases. Case in point, Bioware released Inquisition on all consoles ergo all the DLC should be for ALL consoles; forcing people to upgrade and not even letting them keep their bonus' when switching is even more of a travisty then making people pay more just so they can enjoy the future DLC. I'm also not making up this informaton regarding the flames of inquisition for those who think I am, it came straight for a Support rep who I messaged after getting curious about the matter.

I had to buy a brand new PC to even be able to play DA:I, as games advance so does the needed hard ware to run them.

Not a nice situation if you are sitting on an old console, but by today's standards Xbox 360 and the PS3 are ancient technology not really able to handle new games.

And I'm not sure we ever will. In situations like this you tend to assume it's the Publisher, not the Development Studio. But you can never be 100% sure. Because the Dev Studio is never going to go on record and condemn their Publisher.

Others have posted far more comprehensive lists, above. But really even the two that you have listed there are still prime reasons for some not to upgrade.

For as long as you're offering 2 or more games free with a subscription each month that machine is supported. And for as long as that machine is supported it's a reason not to upgrade.

As a PC gamer, you are looking at this from the wrong perspective.  The hardware vintage of consoles is irrelevant.  Only the marketplace matters.  Gen 7 is just as capable of handling large, streaming, populated worlds as Gen 8.  (Diminishing returns are a subject that comes to mind, but I'll avoid it for now.)  This has been a solved problem for a while.  However, older tech requires more talent and effort to exploit fully.  Bioware is no Rockstar.  Bioware needs more hardware oomph to make their artistic visions shine.  So while GTA V can happen competently on an Xbox 360, DA:I cannot.

Regardless, the fact remains that Bioware/EA chose  the Gen-7 consoles as an outlet for their game.  Dropping support for it midway, without any kind of mitigation for the consequences is dirty pool.  They have egg on their face, and there it should stay long enough for us to point and laugh.

I knew it would come to this. Bioware shouldn't have released the damn game on last-gen consoles. This is just greed and screwing customers who didn't have the money to jump to the next-gen after installing a false sense of security.

It's not ****** right.

Eh, I somewhat agree on the false sense of security bit.  Personally however, even though I'm a 360 player who loves the game, I'm not that upset about it all.  The whole idea of transfering saves, and how (most of) your DLC will transfer over between consoles tells me they are trying to make the transition as easy as they can for us last gen users.  If they *really* wanted to screw us over, they wouldn't have even made the attempt at a save transfer system.

Would I upgrade?  Not at this time.  First off, there haven't been any DLCs announced yet that would make me want to buy a new system.  Secondly, the only way I'd ever want to buy an Xbox One would be if Microsoft allowed modding across the board for all of their games (like they are supposedly going to do for Fallout 4)   If I was to buy Inquisition again, it would be on the PC.  However, since the save transfer system doesn't import to PC (yet?) I'm content just not upgrading as of right now.

I can't argue with you there...it's extremely shady and I miss the days when DLC didn't exist and there was no only support...all the extras were in game and that was it...sure games took longer to release but they were polished and ready...sometimes DLC is fun, sometimes it isn't...some of us just like certain games too much to resist...and then there are games ::cough cough:: like Yakuza 4 that didn't need it to suck hours away :: couch cough::. Then the worst possible example of abusing DLC would be Asura's Wrath, that game was the epitomy of what gamers feared DLC would become "Want the ending to the game? Buy this DLC" "Oh wait that ending isn't the full TRUE ending you need to buy this other DLC" for what was a fun interesting game...it was horrible...getting off point. Fans of Inquisition tend to get DLC because...well we love furthering the story in any way...it's just our nature; we love the series we want MORE so we get it, it adds a little to the experience or it doesn't...but it's fun for a time; but bioware is killing us with this...not everyone has limitless funds.

Also I'm just curious THOSE of you that played Inquisition, well...this is more specific; those of you that played two handed warriors...Spoiler warning now:

When your made head of the inquisition, was anyone as furious as me that you didn't actually get that large broadsword with the dragon hilt? When you actually find the bloody thing it's a weak common sword in a shop in Val Royeux...and there was no plan to make it better...I was so dissapointed.
