Since the infamous patch 9 came and I lost my inquisitors (they were made completely using mods and now they all look really derpy) I'm gonna turn the game off for now. It's really frustrating that these things happen, I know they are trying to fix broken stuff and all but I was only replaying because of the different custom content that made my new characters more unique, like may of the PC players do.

But enough about that. The reason I created this topic is because I have an idea/suggestion to the bioware team. Wen all the DLC cicle ends, can you release a DLC that lets us put custom stuff in the game? Since by the time you guys won't be releasing new item packs or stuff like that, It would be amazing to be able to mod the game more easily and expand its lifespan more until you guys are ready to give us Dragon Age 4.

And this being a official DLC would greatly benefit console players too, since they could never use these kind of content and I've seen some here that would really want to use some of the custom hairs and outfits and all the great stuff the community is putting great efforts on.

This would be a dlc I would happily pay for, among a warden themed one or a deep roads one, but those are subjects for other topics lol

A lot of developers are allowing something like this, like Nintendo with Mario Maker and Bethesda with Doom Snapmap. Sure, level builders like that would be really awesome, but just being able to create new stuff for the CC would already be pretty neat.

You're asking for mod tools to be released once the game is done its life cycle, basically? Mike Laidlaw has said he'd love to do this, but its difficult due to technical limitations. I don't see a problem in continuing to ask, though, so more power to you. Might be better served putting this in the feedback & suggestions board, though.

Do you think I can get a moderator to move this to the right board then? It would be nice for them to see that we we would want this.

Just a small change would do, like having a new directory in the game's files to specifically put custom things like we did in DA:O and DA:2. Or for making things more standard between all the platforms, just add a search bar in the game's CC or item folder so we can search our HDs for the mods

I'd be content if every patch stopped breaking the mod manager. If only wishes were fishes, we could feed the world  ^_^

Yeah but then they couldn't patch the game very well (if at all) if they had to work around that. So you win some and loose some.

The only thing to do is not update until the modders update.

Modding any game that uses the FB3 engine is hard, and the most common way folk inject mods into their games relies on using the game's own mechanisms to make it treat (a group of one-or-more) mods as a patch.  So when there really is an offical patch, things go sideways.

Not BioWare's fault, and not a lot they can do about it.  Want to improve support for mods in DAI?  Talk to DICE.

Sure, just PM one of the mods for this board. I don't honestly know who that is, but someone here can tell you maybe? lol

Looks like I have an email to send. lol Or a tweet, since there doesn't seem to be an email address.

Yeah but I was with auto update on x.x I wish there was a way to downgrade the game... from what I heard this patch is for fixing multiplayer only, wich I don't even use :(

@ OP, you can still play the game using a saved version of the patch file.  You'll just need to open it and change the version to 10.  Save, and it will work just fine.  The problem is you won't be able to upload "new" mods until the mod tool is updated.

I can play the game just fine. But my inquisitors are all heavily modded, so now they are really derpy. So unless I can downgrade the patch I'll have to wait until the modders update the manager.

You can play the game with your mods (and thus fix how your inquisitor looks), if you edit the old modded patch file from pre-patch and change the version number to 10 in the package.mft.

What you won't be able to do is add new mods or remove one or two in particular until the mod manager gets created for patch 8.

You can't change which mods you use, but you can keep using the old ones by following lastpatriot's instructions.

Yup, that's what I was try to say but Dorian explained it much better.  The only problem is that you won't be able to make any changes or add new mods until the mod manager is updated for the new patch.  As always, the mod experts are already well on their way of making a fix.
