Such helpful advice :) Going over to an RPG with a set protagonist, with a poor dialogue system and more action oriented combat is clearly in favor of playing a Dragon Age game which is completely different in almost every aspect. Not saying TW3 is bad btw, just tired of this VS thing. Also feel free to visit CDRP's forums if you want to fawn over them like a crazy fanboy, it is almost as bad as the BSN over there.

Dude, you need to give the witcher a chance. The branching story options and the vastness of the world blew my mind. It makes me feel the way origins did. DAI is an empty world filled with chores in comparison. The thing about the witcher is almost everything about it has a fun twist... Even basic bounty board quests can become full narratives with clever twists and hard choices.

I had my doubts, but I swear by the witcher now. Anyway, dragon age combat died the moment they scaled down the fights, nerfed the magic, and removed tactics. It's the witcher watered down.

Tactics and large scale fights were magical in origins. Bioware forgot that.

This is how I feel about BioWare (and I played DAI on my PS4...):

22_zpsu8ys6xlv.gif

Precisely my reaction.

Here's the thing: Bioware/EA is trying to have their cake and eat it too. They wanted to release Inquisition on last-gen so they could milk the profits there, but they're not willing to support those gamers once they've actually taken their money? What the hell is wrong with these people?

If you're going to support a platform for a game, you have to support a platform for a game. You don't get any points for half-assing it.

People....if this is not proof enough to convince you of Bioware's contempt for their fans, then I guess nothing will.

My advice is for everyone to seriously consider whether you really want to give this company more of your money. Personally, I think it would be a total mistake and a waste. Head over to CD Projekt RED and see what incredible value you will get for your money there.

I'm not a fan of the Witcher series/franchise, but heck I'd toss money at it (CD Projekt RED) just to spite Bioware. This treatment just crossed the line for me.

I agree with the OP. This is incredibly irresponsible of them. I won't be throwing another cent at them, and if I happen to buy a Bioware game I'll be purchasing it used. No more launch day purchases for me!

It still is the better game from a better studio that actually respects the consumer and fans. Trying to downplay the game superiority doesn't make it true, you know?

I agree with the initial post, we are all customers, this type of policy only alienates old gen gamers like myself, right now i can't afford a next gen console, and i'll probably won't be able to for a while, I bought the game on ps3 thinking I would at the least get the same game despite the visual downgrade, but that is not the case, not only does it perform terribly on said platform, but it now has a bug thanks to patch 1.09 where if i go to the Black Emporium all sound glithces out completely and stops working, and now this....

Bioware or EA (whom ever it is) is being totaly disrespectful to us, if you're not going give us a better performance on old gen (at the least in cutscenes, which look awful do to model and texture pop in) the least you could do is let us have access to the content you're planing for the title. So disappointing and unerving to see this type of thing happening in this industry, if this is what you where going to do to begin with, you shouldn't have released the game on last gen in the first place, but you did, and you got our money for it, now suck it up and deliver.

I'm pretty sure that sound issue is a problem only you had, no one else with the last gen version is reporting it. I suspect the patch was corrupted, in which case reinstalling it should fix it.

Doesn't make it any better. A bad decision doesn't become a good decision simply because it's not alone in practice.

I wonder if those other companies made the announcement to their fans as if they were doing last genners a favor and skipped over an apology.

At some point companies have to stop supporting last gen.
Just like Microsoft is trying to get people off xp

Microsoft gives win10 for free for win7/8 users to keep them upgrading so they won't face another win xp situation.

What about DAI? Will ps3/xb360 gamers get free version for ps4/xbone? Is it really ok because other companies do that as well? Ugly is still ugly, context is irrelevant.

You would assume that they would do that by stopping making new games to these consoles instead of cutting them middle of DLC production.

DA:I was 2014. But ok.

Has the number being lower than last year? As some of them started development before the ps4 and xbone were announced

I have played all The Witcher games, more than once. And yes they are amazing games, it doesn't take anything away from Dragon Age beeing amazing aswell. And comparing the two franchises is not possible. Bioware made their lore from the ground up, while CDRP built on what was already there. There is ofc alot both developers could learn from eachother, but i think both games have alot of the same flaws, which i have shared in other threads. The presentation of TW3 is alot better than DA:I, but the replayability and the roleplaying elements are severly lacking, atleast for my tastes. I am glad that you found enjoyment in the game though :)

It still is the better game from a better studio that actually respects the consumer and fans. Trying to downplay the game superiority doesn't make it true, you know?

And it is still subjective to what you and i find surperior. I don't think TW3 is a better game than DA:I, i really do not. I think they are both great games and i enjoy them both immensly. What makes the studio better than Bioware? How are we gonna decide what and who is better?

If EA is to mimic Microsoft, Bioware should discontinue DAI Last Gen support in 2028 given that XP was released in 2001.

This is beyond bad business practice, if they were going to not support DLC on previous gens, this should have been made clear WELL before release. This is fraud

Seeing as the game was meant for a 2013 release. It would not have been a smart move to drop last gen consoles and only release for xb1 and ps4.

This.

The game should never been designed for the old hardware to begin with.

Sucks for the people who bought the game for the PS3 or Xbox 360 however, and now won't have access to the DLC.

This is totally unfair, players that still own last gen consoles paid the same amount of money when buying the game than next gen console owners, some even a little more (I bought the Deluxe Edition), when they announced the game would be released for last gen consoles as well they never said we would be neglected like this. We paid like everyone else to be left with an incomplete game (the next dlc will be pretty much the conclusion of the game) I’m pretty sure every gamer wants a last gen console, but Guess what? Not everyone can afford it, and we shouldn’t be punished for that.

I am a big fan of the Mass Effect trilogy as well as all the Dragon Age games, as a loyal Bioware costumer I feel cheated. If they released the game for last gen consoles it’s their responsibility to provide the same service to all their customers. If they were going to do this they never should’ve released the games on PS3/Xbox360 in the first place, now to play the DLCs we have to wait till we can afford a new console and we have to buy the game again! ( and if you bought the deluxe edition you have to buy that same version again for the save importer to work, so more money you have to spend) It’s a complete rip-off.

Bioware should take this matter very seriously and look for solutions instead of just notifying with a just “deal with it” attitude. I don't even know if this is the right place to post this, but I'm trying to find a way to communicate with Bioware directly and all I get is redirected to forums and such. The least Bioware can do is try and make this right for their costumers.

I guess I'll try. We'll see if they respond, and how.

Edit: Sent to Mike Laidlaw. I'll see what he says, if anything, in the morning. I tried to simply be inquisitive, not snarky or provocative.

hahahaha who at BioWare thought this was a good idea? If you're gonna release it last gen you had better support it on last gen. Excluding them from later DLC is just slapping them across the face with your summer sausage and saying, 'just kidding, buy the real version of DAI if you want to continue.'

Ugh. This is ridiculous. Mike Laidlaw's response was that he was not allowed to tell me the reasons why oldgen is being dropped. Seriously?
