To be fair they look more like wedges than heels; unless those are kind of the same thing. 
To me it feels more like a complaint about customization/choice. So roll on ME:A with hopefully more customization options so that we can choose the type of footwear. To me it's an easy choice of wherever to see sensible shoes vs. having a more pert butt to watch.

Chaps are already assless. Otherwise they'd just be pants.

I always think heels as in high heels; so the heels vs. flats makes more sense.
I'm aware one of the reasons for heels is it makes your butt look better, but you could just sprinkle in some space magic to make your butt look better and not look ridiculous running around in heels lol
