Bless your everlovin' hearts! Guys this is not news. Those terms have always been offensive because they make people feel old.
Welcome to the South.
It's news enough to get a pointless thread though, ma'am. So take that!

Typical White Male blogger, attempting to use their privilege to tell everyone else what to do and how to talk. Will the oppression never end?

I just want to know whether they are legitimately offended or are just bored and are making stuff up to get attention, because I have yet to meet anyone in real life who is offended by being addressed by such titles...perhaps this particular sub-group of SJWs are basement-dwelling antisocial internet misfits?

*insert gift of overweight, sassy woman here*
And also, I wasn't entirely kidding before. Sir and ma'am have always upset some people. Depends on the social situation and the age difference of those involved.

Yeah I've seen a few instances of people taken aback by sir or ma'am myself. Before all the SJW stuff. With the internet in full bloom and oversensitivity running amok you just see sillier cases of what's already been going on much more easily.

Everything is offensive now. Anyone else see the one about trigger warnings? Apparently you can't use the term "Trigger warning" any more because the word trigger could be "triggering" to those who have experienced gun crime. These people are too funny.

I do not have profound words that can address this. I will attempt to convey my thoughts with images.
I believe Gary Larson was attempting to convey the angst of feeling broken in modern times, but I felt it illustrated the state of my brain upon contemplating everything.
Here, I felt Larson was addressing the duality many of us feel pulls us in two directions in modern life. Also, it felt like what was happening in my brain.
This represents Larson's vision of order in the universe. I might be stretching slightly, now.
And this one, I just liked this one.

At my work people get offended when I call their pet a he when they're a she or a she when they're a he. How am I supposed to know with all that hair and when they have a random name like Potato.

I am potato-kin and this offends me.

The internet is an outlet for varying types of silly opinions, from SJWs, to racists, to conspiracy theorists. Are they all worth reporting on?
What if I told you that the Easter island statues have full bodies too?

Which implies either ancient Lizard folk made them or ancient aliens... and THEY'RE STILL AMONG US!

I've never had any problems with Ma'am. I mean anywhere I make a phone call to they always address me as "Ma'am". Until I say my name, but at that point I just let them keep on using it.
