Yes, a free copy of Inquisition should be given, and would help the situation greatly. Although, it should already be standard practice to have a free copy of a cross-gen game you already own once you upgrade, so we wouldn't have to have this conversation.

And you still got the product you purchased. There were no promises of a definite number of future DLC.

Got a question. Is Battlefield 4 on the PS3 and XBOX 360 still being supported by DICE? If that's the case Bioware has no excuse.
I don't understand it myself. Optimization is definitely something the PS3 and xbox360 need focus on over at BW
They could just be tired of trying to fix it and thats the official story on it.

Yup, it is. As far as I know, all platforms have received the same content and will continue to do so in the future. The only difference I can come up with is that the community test environment is mostly PC and now expanding to current gen consoles. Actual game content is equal.Got a question. Is Battlefield 4 on the PS3 and XBOX 360 still being supported by DICE? If that's the case Bioware has no excuse.
(this gave us the nerfed riot shield though

The only reason why I would want DAI on PS4 is, because BW abandoned PS3 folks and doesn't offer DLC's to us anymore. And that doesn't want me to go repurchase their game again. Them offering free copy of the game for people who already have to same game is only reasonable solution here. But since Bioware is what they are I guess I'll just watch the DLC's from youtube and keep warning everyone on how they treat customers.

To everyone who bought the game on last-gen consoles, you have all been suckered by Bioware!
It was always known that DAI would not run optimally on last-gen consoles, but in Bioware/EA's greed, they wanted to maximize profits. And they cunningly succeeded.
it was also likely always planned that they would drop last-gen at a pre-determined time, i.e. Now.
Why do you think they are dropping it? It is sure as hell not because they are planning such awesome DLC that last-gen can't handle. That is total nonsense!
It is because they are trying to save on resources. Maximize profits once again. Because it is much easier to create content across 3 platforms than it would be across 5.
From a business standpoint, more people would have adopted to current-gen consoles by now, so they are also counting on people buying a second copy of the game in order to play this awesome new DLC they are planning for the elite class.
You're all a bunch of fools for even considering buying anything from Bioware ever again!
Mark my words, this is not the last time Bioware will burn you. But your choice to keep on supporting this terrible company will make you a participant. You'll no longer be able to claim innocence and being victimized because you can clearly see how they operate.
STOP SUPPORTING THIS KIND OF PRACTICE! STOP SUPPORTING EA AND BIOWARE!

I think it's really unfair how they went about this. If you commit to making a game for last gen consoles, you need to follow through and offer all of the game (including DLCs and expansions) for those players. It's really terrible to drop those customers mid-way through the process. While I am not one of the "Bioware and EA are money-hungry scam artists" conspiracy theorists, the way this played out really does seem to be a play to minimize expense on their end while strong-arming players to upgrade a buy a second version (plus DLCs) of the game. I'm a die-hard Bioware fan and I think DA: I (vanilla) is a fantastic game, but the way that they've handled DLC this time around is definitely making me side-eye them.....alot.

Exactly.
I feel like a fool for buying this game, so shame on Bioware and EA. I will not make the same mistake again. They will not get any more of my money direct. If there is a game I really want to play, I will get it used. I will not buy dlc. I will not financially support any more multiplayer (I was one of those people who spent around 200 american on me3mp---I will not do that again. ) Bioware lost a very loyal customer over this, and they don't care. That's on them. I'll spend my money where its wanted.
ETA: What's even more upsetting is the complete apathy from most of the current gen users. These are the same people who've been complaining about EA's anti-consumer practices for years. Because they aren't being affected by this, they don't care. Their apathy will come back to haunt them, though, because this won't be the last of it. They've helped set the bar for what gamers will accept and what they won't from publishers. Take note, this is only the tip of the shitstorm to come. And when something happens that negatively affects them, I will not support them. I'll just laugh.

For what it may be worth, you can get the game on either console for 30 bucks at amazon.com . You can get even cheaper copies of them on Ebay if you shop wisely (clearly only buy from a trusted seller). It's not free, but it is much cheaper then it was day one. Also you could just wait till the price drops even further as the future dlc isn't even out yet. It'll be 20 bucks before long I'm sure.

No. I won't even pay 20 bucks for this. This is a pathetic cash grab and I'd be doubly a sucker to fall for it. I have standards. Bioware/EA will do as they do, and so will I. They don't deserve my money.

1. Limits the experience for the rest of us so what he wants directly negatively affects my experience.
2. And far more importantly, likely didn't buy the previous DLCs in enough volume to justify the additional expense.
Previous generation buyers got a full and complete game. They got what they paid for because there is never a guarantee of DLCs coming to any game.

There may not be a guarantee, but is it so unreasonable to assume all the platforms would have equal support?
No one is disagreeing on the notion of Bioware making a mistake to port old-gen copies, but the way this has played out between the fans here is a little unsettling.

Support means bugfixes, patches and help with technical issue. Support doesn't mean new content.

Putting aside whether or not new DLC for single or multiplayer counts as support(because I'm not in the mood to debate that), will old gen consoles even get so much as fix patches like that anymore? Patches cost money to make after all.

Great since old gen hasn't received those since release day. Not truly, just some fixes for all platforms.
